I use Vajra to help Frank’s keepaway game. If they can’t super jump, your projectiles will probably hit. You can also get two pictures if you call Vajra at the right time; you have to take a picture when Strider disappears so that Vajra won’t miss.
How much mileage can I get out of using it for general rushdown or left/rights? I feel like I should be in someone’s face if I have Lv. 5 Frank, as decent as his keepaway can be.
It’s not great for left/rights in my experience. Even if it hit, I’d be skeptical about whether or not I could convert it. It doesn’t even do that great a job of covering your rolls to keep you safe since it’s not big on blockstun (or even hitstun) and only hits once, but it can work okay for cover if you time it right. As an anti-air, though, the hard knockdown will basically give Frank a kill even if you have to FFC reset to do it, and that’s pretty brutal.
I think with Vajra alone, you’re better off harassing with your absurd normals that chip. Don’t forget that you can convert off of a spaced M with Roundhouse M.
I’ve been running Vergil/Frank/Dante for a while now and I’m convinced this is the best team to level up Frank.
Ending Vergil Combos in a Lunar Phase Ground bounce with at least 44 hits, you can hard tag Frank and take 2 Snap shots with Jam Session assist. It can be done off a cross up rapid slash only needing one meter. Of course THC’ing with Frank and Dante(Or Vergil) can get easy leveling. Dimension Slash/Million Dollars DHC whiff works. Adding Jam Session for a second snapshot is automatic level 4. Both Vergil and Dante have Devil Trigger so you can utilize that hard tagging for another snap shot if needed. I’ve played with Frank on point and both assists get you 2 snapshots. No matter what order my team is in, there is always a way to get Frank to Level 4 with out using TAC or DHC whiff.
Hey, I made a video featuring some accessible combos for what I think are some overlooked, but very strong, Frank teams. So yeah, enjoy. Also, I know I can a few more hits here and there, but I play none of these teams currently, so yeah, cut me a bit of slack if the combos aren’t optimal.
Vergil/Frank/Dante is almost indisputably the best Frank team.
Aside from that, i real feel like Skrull/Frank is the next best option. I have a lot of loyalty to Nova/Frank, but Skrull/Frank provides the insta-5 and the lockdown assist for “you don’t get to play anymore” incoming mixups all in one character leaving the third slot free for a Beam or whatever the hell you want. Too good.
I have said, and will continue to say, that Vergil/Frank is not the best pairing out there. Dante/Frank absolutely though. As for Skrull VS Nova, Scottle’s right, Skrull does bring lvl 5 more reliably and a cheap incoming mixup. Problem is that’s about all the noteworthy stuff he brings to Frank. Nova brings a lot more to the table.
i just want play an original team, like deadpool Frank Doom what do you think about this team ? or have you a third character for deadpool frank team to propose ?
Ammy is a strong partner for both. I can see that being an interesting team with lots of options. Quick Work assist on Deadpool lets chainsaw Frank do “Hard to Blockables” and Ammy’s cold star is great for lock down/pressure.
Deadpool’s quick work should also allow Frank to do out of the corner shopping cart follow ups if his wall bounce is intact (ala this):
You get this nonsense:
As far as I can understand the quick work combos take Deadpool to the other side and should set up a Happy Happy Trigger that is high enough for Frank to shopping cart follow up.
Looks the the team has some potential if you want to play it.
I’m currently running X-23 / Trish / Frank West.
I can get an easy lv 4 Frank West by doing a simple X-23 bnb DHC into Round Harvest, hard tag Frank and photo (50+ hit combo that is hard to drop).
The only problem is that I find a lack of team synergy. Any advice on choosing assists or ideas for setups?
I would run the team Trish (Low Voltage) Frank (Cart) X-23 (OTG).
Gives you a great THC with Trish and Frank, X-23 OTG assist hits low so it allows you to do unblockables with Trish and Frank, Trish can level Frank easily by creating a hard knockdown and then DHCing from Round Harvest to Cart.
I like X-23/Trish/Frank in that order, though I think Wesker’s slightly stronger on average in that spot. X-23, however, has some nice advantages as well.
If you have Trish infinites, something I don’t myself, you can infinite them to death and tag in X-23, call peekaboo assist, then get a free kill on the second character, or use it for a guaranteed Frank, lord knows you have the meter for it at that point. Peekaboo and Cart are great neutral for X-23, but she can’t relaunch with them, so I’d say your best bet is a lot of TACs, and maybe a few resets or TAC baits. I know the X-23 forum has mentioned a few TAC baits a while back. I don’t know 'em. X-23/Trish/Frank is THE order for this one, and should probly be the best overall, as Trish can level up Frank if X-23 dies, which is nice because you know the team won’t die after your point dies.
Ankle slice assist. If you put them into a knockdown, you can throw the scythe, tag frank, call ankle slice and get a guaranteed hit. CS assist is good, but not on this team. Ankle slice is also good extension for Trish combos.
If you’re not going for peekaboo, low voltage, good for X-23, great for Frank, and allows for a nice THC as Cape said.
Wesker point has almost the same advantages, with different neutral, better extension, and no dirt nap. The pros to X-23 are if you get meter from either Trish’s resets, infinites, regular TAC combos, or Frank lvl4-5, all of which are pretty likely, Dirt Nap. For Dirt Nap, use Peekaboo. If you find your team doesn’t get it much, use Low voltage. Wesker can use either, and that’s up to preference.
So we have a teams thread already, but I would like to see it move more towards Frank and each other character specifically. So for my team for example. I wanted to play Firebrand and Frank. Go into the pros of the team and the cons as well as ideal thirds to the team (Skrull, Doom, Iron Man, etc).
the cape, i think you need unblockable set up with your firebrand, like Ammy. i don’t know if you can do unblockable situation with Skrull, Doom, Iron Man. But it’s an interesting team !
for my part, i’m starting to play Spencer Frank Dante. i have a lot of fun and i begin to understand how Frank works !
Firebrand/Frank works with Trish second, and anchor, Dante, IM, Ammy, Doom, possibly Sentinel, all of those last. Skrull would work last for sure, Frank gets nearly as broken incoming mixups as firebrand, and that’s saying something. But we’ve (at least me and Cape) have already talked about this in extreme detail.
And yeah, the Firebrand unblockable stuff actually works better to an extent with Skrull than Ammy, Tenderizer was actually where the Firebrand lewps originated.
And what does Nova provide that’s better than Tenderizer? The way i see it, if you’re playing a Frank team, you should feel confident that you win when you get Frank. To do that you need an assist that provides broken incoming mixups. Nova doesn’t have that, which means your third slot assist has to go to that duty, but there are no assists that do that and still provide adequate neutral utility to flesh out the Nova/Frank shell, so that shell will always be lacking.
