Group Photo Ops- The Frank West Team Building Thread

I always enjoy watching Haggars play ^^ Personally i toyed around with Frank/Deadpool alot, and its nice to punish untimely hidden missiles with their team super, gives you 4 nice levels pretty easy ^^

But my team is Rocket Racoon, Frank West and Nemesis (yes in that order, but wait til you see the video and youll understand why). I like Frank West, and i Nemesis, and i have been trying to find a third wheel to my team for a long time. For now i am pretty set on RR, all due to a nice rawtag video i saw a couple of days ago in the RR section

In the end, i realise that lv1 FW and Nem isnt characters that can open up opponents that well, but FW lv 4 is another issue. And having Nem corner pressuring an opponent is also pretty decent combined with log trap and shopping cart assist.

But should i use Shoppingcart assist or the :l:tools? Are there any cool RR+Frank or Nem+Frank tech i should know about? I remember reading that someone had an easy way to lv up frank from a Nem command throw, but they didnt explain how

The problem is once RR is dead (and that isn’t hard with his 750k health) you’re pretty boned.

What kinda synergy does Akuma and Frank have? I’m running Wright (Press the Witness)/Frank West (Shopping Cart)/Akuma (Tatsu), and although I’ve found that Turnabout Wright is fantastic for helping Frank level up, and Shopping Cart is great for coverin’ Wright, I’m not so sure how Frank and Akuma mesh.

As for Haggar, that might be a dead end, with my third. I decided that Haggar/Dorm is an amazing pairing, because it is, so I went into training mode with Haggar/Dorm/Frank, good stuff, Shopping cart actually extends everything everywhere for haggar, off any throw, anything, that otg and shopping cart works perfectly. But, my two legitimate Frank setups are situational in that team (Lvl5 for 1 meter off a ground confirm or grounded rapid fire fist, Lvl 3 off a confirm without a ground bounce, but I end up confirming with pipe all the time). Haggar gets Touches of Death so easily, but Frank never gets levelled. Thing is, a few other assists can extend just as well as shopping cart, with similar or better neutral game applications (Jam Session, Arthur’s Daggers), so there’s better compliments to Haggar out there.

And I ended up going with Cap/Vergil/Frank for now, almost all confirms allow me to DHC to Swords, Lunar Phase, and Raw Tag, suddenly leaving me with anchor vergil. And Cap is good at baiting out assists, as well as he has a pretty strong defensive game (YAY SHIELDS). And I’m okay with Vergil, so yeah, that’s that for now. Oh, and Vergil has a lot of solo Frank levelups in case of Cap getting ripped to shreds like tissue paper.

And…hrm, you posted a similar thing in the Nemesis teambuilding forum. I’ll tackle that team’s synergy over there.

I just found(through someone else’s video on another thread) that if you have 2 meters and land a grounded combo, you can ToS L to pull them in close then cancel into shopping cart hyper and DHC into RFF before the cart pushes your opponent too far away or off the ground. Then you can fully mash out the RFF and hardtag Frank in for whatever finish you would like resulting in lvl 5 Frank. Its not as good as Haggar landing a grounded RFF obviously but it is another option if Haggar has taken a beating and you have lvl 1 Frank out. Lariat assist is also great for getting more than 1 shot in a combo. Of course, I use this pairing because I would drop Frank before Haggar but I have a bunch of different tools in my belt to get Frank leveled up. I used to have the same problem as you with Haggar where it is hard to choose to level up Frank instead of going for the kill but I just had to get over it and get frank leveled.

I realize how well he works with Frank, the ground RFF, their assists help each other a TON, and point Frank likes Haggar spin, as does everyone, but he gets an extra picture off it. I’d say to make my version of that team really work, though, someone besides Dormammu would have to be in second. Trish could probably do it well, same with Dante, maybe Chris. And I think, for all that’s going for Haggar/Frank, I like the pairing of Haggar/Dormammu a bit more. Dormammu likes the spin as defense and an excuse to tridash in on turtles, and Haggar gets good extension from Dark Hole, and a decent pressure tool. The matchups also really compliment each other, Haggar and Dormy cover a lot of options. Also, I tried Trish, could never get quite good enough with her. She would be pretty perfect on that team, though.

And for now, I’m kinda really loving Cap/Vergil/Frank. Shield Slash is a really underrated assist, and I managed to annoy a Felicia online to no end by using shields and rapid slash.

Final thoughts, Haggar and Frank need a third who also has an animal-print costume. I would use that team immediately.

Spencer and its actually a pretty good team! I have tried many different people for the 3rd spot including Dorm. In fact, I wish I was better with Dorm but for some reason Im just no good with him. Ive also tried Chris and trish with little success. All of these failures come from my inability to put the time in with new characters not in the character them self. At the end of the day, I use hawk with his alt costume because it kind of looks like black panther which is kind of jungly

Okay, that sounds good. Yeah, I realized that Spencer worked for team Animal-Print afterwards, and Spencer extends for Haggar, gets good approaches from Frank, and is pretty much the only assist with which Haggar can go for a command throw reset after a long-ass combo (the delays are annoying as hell, was working with it earlier today, input spencer then kick, then wait a crapton until the restand into pipe, then grab them when the hitstun runs out)

I have the same problem with learning new guys (the reason why Firebrand/Trish/Frank didn’t dominate, the team synergy is solid, just I’m bad), and my dormammu is already okay, so I went with my semi-experienced Vergil and my new-ass Cap. My Cap is kinda scrubby for now, but he feels easy enough for the few online sessions I’ve played with him. And I have a problem with Spencer’s combos in battle, they’re fun to lab, though. My new plan is Haggar/Dormammu/Taskmaster or Skrull, Task can get combos from his forward throw using spin, and TAC to Dormammu to convert any scaled hitconfirm into a kill anyway, just I have nothing to combo off of Haggar’s command throw excepting X-factor cancelling. And Skrull would allow me more Haggar converts with stone smite, but I would barely have tools to apporach with haggar. On the flip side, anchor skrull is silly, and Dorm gets extension from stone smite as well as spin. But that shouldn’t go here, this is a Frank thread.

Ba-dUMP.

Tatsu and Shopping Cart operate fairly similarly in terms of assists but Akuma’s Tatsu is overall a bit better. You can find some of his level up tricks if you check the Frank West Leveling Up Strategies Thread.

One of the reasons I’m trying to get the thread together, get some basic ideas together for most of the characters so its easier to know what to look for when you make a new team.

Dude I just realized something that may be awesome for team Hagg/frank/spencer. Spencer’s assist restands the opponent which is great for gettign extra shots with frank right? Well what if you do a combo with Haggar that has spencer restand them at the end, then get a full grounded RFF for an easy level 5 frank for 1 bar. I suck with spencer but if this works I may have to rethink my team.

It just plain depends on the hitstun decay, but that had actually occurred to me as well. It would be worth looking into at least so even in early combos you can level up Frank off any confirm (even a pipe bounce).

Yes Haggar/Spencer/Frank allows for a level 5 Frank off of practically any hit confirm. Here’s a link to a video I posted awhile back, mostly just a proof of concept. Group Photo Ops- The Frank West Team Building Thread

This is the main team I use and in the order above. I have since optimized (I think) the combos and if anyone is interested they are as follows.

c.l, c.m, f.h xx m violent ax, m + spencer xx l violent ax, RFF
pipe, m + spencer xx l violent ax, m, f.h xx m violent ax (1 hit) xx RFF
Throw(command or normal), c.h + spencer xx f.h xx h violent ax (1 hit) xx RFF

If after hard tagging in with Frank you follow with: call Haggar, snapshot, m Tools, m Tools, snapshot xx ST - you will build over a meter so you can do these combo at the start of the round, however double m Tools only works in the corner. I believe all do over 900k and should kill the majority of the cast. I’ll put up specifics when I get the chance.

edit: With double M tools they all do over 1mil

c.l - 1,009,000
pipe - 1,030,300
H command grab - 1,018,700
reg grab - 842,200

Also forgot to post M hoodlum combo…

M hoodlum, (delay) j.m, (delay) j.h, (delay) headbutt, land, m + spencer xx l violent ax, RFF
Hitstun is too much to do double M tools after this one so I do M tools into M roundhouse.

Its funny, I concept tested this team and found a few small things. Seems they are similar to yours:

Yeah, wow, whoa. I’m sticking with my thing, but yeah, wow. I don’t wanna learn spencer, mostly because my brother is and I don’t want us using the exact same characters. Also, I found out that with Taskmaster/Dorm/Haggar, I can combo an unblockable into a touch of death on most squishy members of the cast for minimal meter. Yayzorz.

Edit: Hey, TheCape, I was curious and tested out the animal print team. I figured out EXACTLY what was in that video when labbing. lol

Edit: @ Ocaml_ftw, Sick tech.

You can do Nemesis’ tentacle slams -> raw tag Frank -> assist (I used Iron Man’s repulsor blast but RR’s log trap might work) -> snapshot into launch combo. You can also do L M cH xx closeline rocket L -> raw tag Frank attack -> L S s.j. j.L j.L j.M j.M j.S land Snapshot. Neither combo will get you to more that lvl 2-3 but that’s better than nothing I guess.

So you can raw tag from his Clocket L? I’ll have to add that to the list then. Good stuff.

From what I can remember it gets easier the closer you get to the wall and c.H helps with that and makes the raw tag timing easier.

Edit: I forgot to say that other characters with a wall bounce can do this.

Chun Li Can get Frank to about 4 with Strider’s Assist and a Kiosho into a DHCed Blue Light Special. It’s very situational as of right now, but possible.

Kikosho and Hoyokusen can DHC into Blue Light Special on airborne or grounded opponents if the spacing is good. Since both moves launch the opponent on the final hit with good timing you can get the necessary height for the cart super to hit.
