What’s the general consensus on Frank’s Pick Me Up assist, and do Chris and Jill benefit from the shopping cart enough to use it over orange juice?
I’m looking to try a team that abuses the heck out of meter, mostly to cross-over counter using the invulnerability and priority on Jill’s somersault and Chris’ combo punch to punish the pressure that I block, and I’m hoping that using Frank’s meter-building assist during combos and miscellaneous safe opportunities will help make that happen without losing too much potential due to the lack of a shopping cart.
Jill is really fun with Frank. Her combos done into Raven Spike can round up enough hits to get Frank to Level 4 if he DHC’s to a missed Survival Techniques and has an assist to get him two pictures, and Chris’ punch assist lets that happen.
Pick Me Up is way too slow compared to Morrigan’s and iirc even Ammy’s, that’s why it’s not that used. Frank is just way too vulnerable during it. If you can find proper setups that allow Frank to go unpunished, it might be good though. I don’t know enough about Chris or Jill to say how much they’d profit from Shopping Cart
Pick me up is a few frames slower than Ammys, but they’re both tons slower than Morrigans. I imagine Jill/Chris would benefit more from shopping cart; meter gain is nice but you really have to have a purpose and game plan in mind to justify it.
It’s been a while! Started playing again last night and people have gotten amazing. I think it’s cuz the Japanese players that do play umvc3 love it with a passion and aren’t just casual players, I was getting bodied by 7/8/9th lords pulling off 100% dante/vergil combos online… ugh.
Anyway, Nova wasn’t really pulling his weight and dying far too easily, so I’ve started to Tinker with my old main… Tron. I don’t remember seeing anyone post about her on this thread, but interestingly enough, Okizeme ran Tron/Frank/Nova. His blog has lots of vids: http://okize.me
From what I can gather, Tron builds much more meter than Nova, so a hit basically guarantees a level 5 frank: Combo->Lunchtime->whiff, backdash, photo, qcf+C (wallbounce), dp+C (roundhouse kick), photo (this is already about 1 mil damage, but you can further cancel into a hyper, Tron’s meter building actually allows for this)
Taskmaster works well enough. I would probably say up arrows for the assist to protect frank and GR’s heads but hori. arrows is a pretty solid assist in general. You can THC frank and Task (might have to have hori assist to get the hori arrow THC) to get a free snap and maybe another roundhouse>snap for an easy level 4. Either way Tasky would help you get in and he’s a pretty strong character anyway. Tasky + cart is pretty annoying and I would bet that Frank + hori arrows would probably shore up the bigger gaps in franks pressure game.
I was thinking of running Nova/Frank/Doom
Nova/Frank work well together. as for doom I like him as an anchor and I’m ok with him. But if there are other options if anyone could let me know that would be appreciated.
You might be able to work something out with Wesker’s wall bounce into a hard tag>combo or MAYBE the soft knockdown from maximum wesker if you can get frank close enough to relaunch before they hit the ground. The counter super is too slow up use for power up loops so you can’t abuse that. Since Wesker isn’t really about racking up the hits I’m not sure how much leveling up you’ll get there, but I’d bet there’s at least 1 or 2 ways to level him up a little without TACs.
You can try hyper grav xx magnetic tempest into frank but the cinematic special might actually hit, so you probably need a specific setup for that.
Other possibility is gravity squeeze -> hard tag Frank and snap.
You can always TAC too, and magneto has really tricky setups for TACs that no one else has.
On this video Desk begins with 2 meter. after level 3, Frank Can level up 4 !
Something interesting with Assist card, Magneto has many possibility and many set ups.
