okay so question is whats more important? anti air assist for Iron fist or approach assist for frank? and is there an assist that could give both?
Update on Nova/Frank/Spencer:
-
Nova/Frank - After Nova BnB (which uses a ground bounce), DHC to Frank, snapshot… you can get a relaunch-snapshot with a well timed Nova-Beta assist (centurian rush)… I can’t explain the second ground bounce from the assist… maybe it’s because the character is different? Another reason to use centurian rush is so that you don’t lose red health… gravimetric blaster removes ALL red health even if Nova is called as an assist… found out the hard way, but a 500k health grav-blaster shot is HUGE, haha.
-
Spencer - Really hard to get in with no firepower… I found myself having little use for the assist after point (1)… only time is when Frank is on point at level 1. Nova/Spencer human rocket punch combos are nice, but they deny Frank of Spencer’s assist after the DHC… they also do a huge amount of damage which will more than likely kill the character before a snapshot. Spencer is also really difficult to play as an anchor with no assists… contrary to what combofiend demonstrates… People are aware of Spencer tricks now (at least in Japan) and they know how to deal with them… Even combofiend now plays him second as a projectile/beam assist is neccesary for his approach.

Doom - I’m trying to use doom now as my anchor… (QUESTION: beam or missiles assist?) I like his firepower. I’ve been playing with his beam assist so far and it can be used to extend Frank’s combos after an OTG snapshot. After 2-a-b-c-s, air-b-b-c-s, you can snapshot-beam-relaunch combo-snapshot in the corner, but this won’t work after a previous relaunch. If you are level 2, it’s possible to do OTGroundhousekick-beam-launch after Frank’s relaunch combo.
For those of you that use Frank/Doom, any pointers?
On the discussion about whiffed DHC’s to level frank, i feel that spending that bar is worth it. DHC for level 4 can be argued, but a hyper bar for level 5 is definitely worth it. It’s like a permanent power up hyper that allows you to build meter. Think of it as doing the Maximum Wesker to remove the glasses. Although, I think the point about what to do after (mix up opportunities? combo continuation?) definitely needs exploration. There is very little to do after Frank’s snapshot because of the huge recovery. Without meter to DHC, few assists allow Frank to continue the combo/pressure. Beam assists could be one, but from midscreen, the enemy gets pushed too far… Spencer grapple is nice if you play him…
Nova’s assist ignores the ground bounce rule. Always causes a groundbounce.
Been using Frank lately. One thing I learned is to not put him on point if you don’t need to (though I do have him on point in one of my teams ^^;). My two teams with Frank are
Nova (c.rush)/Frank(cart)/Doom(plasma beam)
And
Frank(cart)/Chris(combination punch)/Arthur(Dagger)
The first team is the basic “get frank to level up as quickly as you can” team using dhc from nova to frank, while Doom’s assist keep the pressure.
The second team is for the fun; combination punch after BnB snapshot gives him an extra level usually.
Any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated.
Viper/Vergil/Mel Gibson
This is why I chose this team. The damage this team can create is nuts! I made this quick video demonstrating how easy it can be to level up Frank with this team… If the character didn’t die yet.

Hey guys, I just got the game a few days ago and I just wanted some feedback on my team. I’m running Frank (shopping cart)/Amaterasu (cold star)/Dormammu (dark hole). Any feedback is appreciated.
@supasatolitis i’ve been playing the same team as your first! and i’ve been having some trouble with magneto and teleport characters i have combo notes on a post above…
@poliswagg i think it’s difficult for frank to get in with that team. frank has no way to get in on keep away (easier with his roll, but you have him 1st, so no roll to start off)… and your two assists are not full screen… although dormammu is pretty close… dark hole also can’t extend combos in the corner… can ammy?
So I want to build a team with Frank and Trish on it only im a bit confused about Team order and such and who would be a good third character.
So far I kind of want to tryViper but what order would be good?
Im thinking Viper/Frank/Trish
any ideas for this team?

Would you recommend changing my team order or just dropping Dorm? If so, what characters/assists do you recommend?
What do you mean? Are you trying to say who should you start out with first? Well if Iron Fist is in the team then might as well use him first since he does good damage and approaches well against grounded targets.
That’s cool. If I don’t have a character that has an OTG assist I can do cr.LMH, fwd.H, qcb+M then start the sword loop and tag Frank in with the ground bounce.
What i mean is when Considering a 3rd character for the IF/Frank/??? team what assist do you think is more important to have for the team? because so far IF has the disadvantage of not having an Anti air. and Frank doesn’t have an assist for helping him approach
So can Iron Fist handle himself without an anti air? or can Frank handle himself without an approach assist? or better yet is there an assist that can do both?
I would get an assist that makes approaching easier if i were you. Anti air assists are not that good in this game, unlike mvc2 (cept maybe like 3 of them and even then they’re no where near as good as the prequel) and you’re better off with some type of beam assist seeing as the two characters so far have problems getting in. I would think Doom missiles would probably work best if you want something that helps the opponent grounded or for allowing your characters to get in. Sent drones might work too for occupying the screen. These assists might not be the best for lvling up Frank though so you might have to experiment and find something that suits you best.
Well Frank can use IF’s assist to approach and IF can use his for approach as well so there’s a little synergy. For the third it’s really preference. I like playing with hawkeye so boom, not only is he a good assist to approach with but also a good anchor. There’s a few tricks you can do with hawkeye and frank but that’s just one character. Remember that the anchor has to be able to stand his own ground so what about Spencer? His assist is literally an anti-air as well.
Personally I would go with spencer or hawkeye as a third. Iron Fist has great synergy with Spencer so adding him would make your IF more dangerous in my opinion…
yep but the idea is to do a 100 hit combo to get him to level 5. Remember that Virgil and Wesker have great synergy and wesker is a great anchor so consider using him in your team.
@poliswagg i’ve been having a lot of success with Doom… if you check earlier posts, I’ve posted about testing with Frank and Dorm, and a lot of stuff just doesn’t work out. I think Doom also helps ammy out…
@fernachi i’ve tried Viper, Trish, Frank… look at my old post for a few strats (i gave up because Viper BnB is impossible online)
for IF/Frank… does strider work? his assist is sort of like anti-air… and both IF and Frank can OTG easily off the hard knockdown (which might also present interesting photo ops…) i agree with Doom to get Frank in… he’s great as anchor too… and his beam adds a lot of hits to combos for frank… also, doom bnb into air finger lasers can be followed by whiffing Frank’s hyper and then a snapshot for level 4 However, spencer’s grapple allows for 2 photos at the end of any combo… I find Spencer difficult to use though
Swap Frank’s and Chris’ positions and that’s the exact same team I use. Arthur’s daggers provide Frank with a fine projectile that works well with pressure application or just throwing more pie or orange juice cartons, and Chris’ punch doubles your PP collection without having to drink if you’re close enough. Besides, something has to take the place of Chris’ missing gunfire assist.
I honestly think Frank can perform just fine at Level 2 with his amazing roll, and that Level 3 makes him excellent with an invincible hyper as well as a new anti-air hyper with great priority plus the new range and damage, and of course levels 4 and 5 are more fearsome than the hydra. So if he can get just one hit in himself, there’s your level 2 or possibly even 3, yet if Chris gets off just one TAC, Frank can air ToS L three times in the air, then air S thanks to the extra hitstun, call Chris and get double the input if he’s close enough, which pretty much always ends in Level 4, or Level 3 if it’s just one picture, which is perfectly fine if you ask me, especially since Level 3 makes it that much easier to get to Level 4, which again makes getting to the next level a simple matter if you really need to.
I’m certain that if you put Chris on point, your team can be more than just for funzies.
I really believe that forming teams around getting Frank to Level 4 or 5 right away is detrimental to his game and a complete waste of time. I’m pretty sure it was Insert Name Here who was saying that his goal should be Level 3, and I couldn’t agree more. Getting to Level 3 is that much easier, which should expand his compatible team mates, possibly lending Frank more players who want to use him. On top of that, with the right assists, maybe even without them, getting to Level 4 from 3 is a piece of cake compared to getting started from Levels 1 and 2 because of all the extra range, damage, and overall ferocity given to him. Heck, you could play through the rest of the match with just Level 3; it’s really underrated.
Whats truly underated is Level 1, Frank can definitely contend with alot of characters out there before he even levels up. Frank has some very good anti air normals for people that like to box dash, his decent jump height lets him go over most assists while going for the anti air. A great example: Nova + Hawkeye/Task combination. I’m sure we’ve all seen the classic “Call assist Air Dash H” from Nova players. But decently spaced J.M from frank beats Nova’s J.H clean, just an example.
VERY GOOD
