Why is everyone so against running Frank on point? I literally don’t understand it. If you get zoned it, eventually you WILL get in. Eventually you’ll get the meter so that you don’t have to waste it on assists during the combo. And when you finally get it, you get a good amount of health back.
His normals at level 1 are insane, almost deceptively so. Most people will already count you out just because he’s on point, so the mindgame aspect is there as well. His shopping cart assist is NOT that good. Seriously, go into training mode and see how much it scales down your combo. It’s great for pressure and all, but not THAT good to sacrifice that much damage… a longer combo will be cut in half just because of it. He has a good wave dash and his slide is incredible, it will go under a good amount of projectiles in the game, not to mention his dive kick is an overhead for what ever reason. Facing against a zoning team, every time I just feel like it’s only a matter of time before I get in and then, once at least level 3 (though I’m guaranteed 5) he shuts down pretty much every single zoning character in the game.
I’m just curious, has everyone just been too afraid to try him out on point or what? Because I hate having to rely on TAC to make it work, and getting dante into frank is pretty difficult in the corner, which is where people always end up when you combo them in this game.
A nice little trick you can do with a Peekaboo assist is that after a standard air combo, right before you use the camera, call the assist, and cancel the camera into the shopping cart hyper. As the opponent is falling down, the trap “catches” them, making a followup possible.
I think this is corner only, though. Plus, sometimes I can’t get a combo after they get caught in the trap, though it could just be my crappy execution or it only works at certain distances. I need to do more testing.
I’ve been focusing solely on point-Frank during the entirety of my experience, and it’s honestly underrated. He gets blown off for not being at maximum potential right away despite being rather capable and getting his arguably most useful tool in just 5 PP, which isn’t really a fair judgement, but whatever, all it takes is one combo and one assist and I’m already Level 3 going on 4, or sometimes straight to 4 if I feel like expending X-Factor to accomplish it.
Frank on point simply feels far more reliable and inexpensive.
Just started playing a new lineup today and so far I’m liking it. Spent a little time in training mode and was able to work out getting frank up to level 4 at the cost of 3 meters using Trish Round Harvest. Enjoying playing nemesis and can’t wait to figure out some more team synergy after locking down this combo. Just gotta be patient and hold onto my meter long enough to land this.
Edit: doesn’t work on short characters because his deadly reach completely misses. In place of the dealy reach I’ve found crouching H > clothesline rocket L works.
Will try and work out a few more things soon. Anyone else playing this team? Also, can anyone confirm that if you drink > put frank away and then combo into photo he stays powered up?
a level 4 frank dhc is possible using this:

but it’s pretty hard to get the hits up there (maximum spider isn’t mashable) so you need to cheat by getting extra hits from your assists. in an example I was going to record but couldn’t due to the input recorder only being 10 seconds it’s possible if you open them up with shopping cart (adds 7 hits) and I used plasma beam (8 hits) to combo the otg web zip into maximum spider. it’s just so impractical, especially compared to the other level 4/5 frank dhcs that I’d rather stick to the meterless stuff, but it is there.
I like that option with the super, it adds a bit more hits. In the 2nd video you posted you ended with web throw. Could you do web throw into maximum spider? then DHC into frank? How many levels does that give?
it needs to be a fast assist but yes. hitstun scaling is pretty high at that point and because you raw tag you can’t call an assist instantly.
on that subject they have an okay thc:

when you raw tag frank and try to thc frank will do the thc with the other character because spider-man is still in an assist recovery state or something which is…interesting.
I made a video to show ways to combo into Haggar’s Rapid Fire Fist to level up Frank. All of these will get Frank to level 5 in one combo for two meters. Frank can even do it if you like to have Frank on point.
What is this? Full Frank combo -> snapshot, tools of survival -> DHC to Ryu powerup -> hard tag Frank -> Snapshot?
Does this work with all powerup supers?
If that works, that will make your next Frank combo THC with Ryu uber-tatsu really good.
Edit: Yep, that works. Thanks for the technology, really useful considering my Frank needed a midscreen BnB. The final snapshot does combo into another tools super, which combos into powered up Ryu tatsu super if you want to spend meter.
I’d like to play a team consisting of Felicia, Frank, and Magneto but I’m having a hard time figuring out the optimal order to run them in, any opinions? My main problem is that Frank is dead whilst he’s still level 1 far too often, I use his shopping cart assist to help out Felicia’s pressure and mix-up game and put priority on her instead of levelling him up, which generally leaves him fucked once she dies. I was thinking running Mags/Frank/Felicia for Shockwave DHC whiffed Survival or Mags/Felicia/Frank for a quick level up off raw tag after gravity squeeze and having Mags remain my real anchor, is there anything important I’m not considering?
I really want to run Frank with Firebrand and magneto, but I can’t find a good order. Magneto/firebrand/frank on point gurantees me some nice pp for Frank everytime I land a grabbity squeeze, but if my magneto gets scraped then I’m not so sure how good of an anchor a low level frank is. Frank/firebrand/magneto takes care of the anchor problem because magneto is decent enough in xfc3; however, Frank doesn’t really have a good pp combo unless I set magneto to hyper-grav assist which firebrand has no use for. I guess I might be willing to switch out magneto for strange(although strange isn’t exactly my kind of character) but strange really shines with assits backing them. I guess I really just want a firebrand/frank??? team. Does anyone have a good suggestoin for a third. Preferably a character that can net frank some pp and is also a god anchor. Sorry for the rambling. Any tips are appreciated
