Group Photo Ops- The Frank West Team Building Thread

I had been using Haggar and Frank but was looking for a third and after seeing this and spending time in the lab I’ve found him. Using Spencer’s slanted wire grapple assist causes the opponent to be grounded so you can land a fully mashed RFF even on airborne opponents. So basically after any landed attack with Haggar I can get a level 5 Frank with only one bar. These are just a few examples…

These are really simple and basically all that you need. Adding too many hits will cause the opponent to bounce out of the last hit of the RFF even if they are grounded. I’m still trying to find the optimal combos for this.

Does this ryu assist extension work mid screen? With your back in the corner? As for suggestions, cr.M, st.H, cr.h, S, is a better starter from the guide because it has more range and damage. You can combo air M, M, land, cr.M, etc, as well. Also, once you’re level 3, tools of survival super does more than shopping cart, so if you’re comboing to 3+ use that. You can still dhc to haduken or tatsu, right as the last baseball bat hits.

Ooh, being able to get them re-grounded after a command throw, I like it! Somebody had posted about how slant wire was good for setting up resets with M Hoodlum Launcher, but I hadn’t even thought about using it for the ground RFF. Good shit.

I’ve considered picking up Spencer to anchor my Haggar/Frank team too but… I’ve never really clicked with Spencer when I tried to play him in vanilla :frowning: Probably just need to spend more time in the lab and get comfortable with all his combos. I like how much damage they do as a THC too (although it doesn’t seem to be possible to followup with snapshots when Frank is on point, but hey he’s got Haggar for that).

Right now the anchor for my Haggar/Frank lineup is Ryu. I’m not completely happy with him as a character but his Tatsu assist is alright. I’m mainly using it as a combo extender in Haggar OTG’s, as it does a very good job of keeping them from flipping out before the Hoodlum Launcher connects (unless hitstun has decayed way too much, which rarely happens). All their DHC’s flow very nicely when Ryu is the last character too. Landing a THC when Frank is on point in the corner usually allows him to land one snapshot since Ryu’s hurricane kick super causes a hard knockdown, which is nice just in case Haggar gets KO’ed first and Frank has to fight at level 1. And if all else fails and both Haggar and Frank get killed, Ryu serves as a much better anchor than either of those two since he can use meter safely to do shitloads of chip damage in level 3 XFactor. Still don’t know if it’s quite the dream team I want though. I need to learn more characters but most of my effort in learning new characters is spent on KOF 13 right now…

tbh, i dont think it does work. unless you wavedash like mad very consistently then no i dont think it does. i actually still dont have a solid team right now. ryu is out and i have spencer and sentinel. im switching frank out and having him sleep with everybody so yeah.

Here you go: frank/sent/ryu. Comboing into the corner call ryu tatsu with snapshot, relaunch, snapshot tools super. If you’re not comboing into the corner, relaunch with QCF+H, and end with drones, snapshot, cart super, snapshot. Level 3 corner, level 4 midscreen - and you can make a combo into the corner turn around by delaying the first jump M, QCF+H will then land you in the other side. I can’t figure a combo out yet that uses them both, but this is pretty fun for situational awareness.
Now you’ve got 3 aggressive assists for moving in, HSF into haduken super to punish any assist after frank dies, and if you can manage to get them to blow x factor early, you’ve got plenty of chip.

Edit: corner THC works for either and both, for easy 2-bar level 4.

I have been running Ammy(cold star)/Frank(cart)/Doom(missles).
This team works pretty well. THC with Frank with at least 2 levels. Okami shuffle will keep the combo going with Frank free to move around and snap at least 2 photos, taking him to level 5.

I think the best thing you can do with Frank is put him second and then bring him in with a DHC or even a crossover counter in the air for maximum combo and good damage. My friend runs Firebrand (the otg assist)/Frank (cart)/Spencer (slant shot) as a team and it works surprisingly well. Firebrand doesn’t do high damage but hits a lot of times in his basic combos, and you can DHC really fast his speed up super -> the cart super, take a picture and if you can be fast you can pull them back in with Spencer and take second picture - this usually results in getting to level 3 or 4 really easily.

Frank doesn’t get a snapshot after cart super unless you blow xfactor or team hyper. You can get to 3 or 4 off a TAC, but you’re risking losing any hyper at all to a counter.

I’ve been messing around in training mode and there is a way you can use this without Haggar on point. It’s possible to DHC into a fully mashed RFF with Frank and Ryu, but the opponent has to be grounded. With these two it works anywhere on screen. With Frank you have to use the blue light special super and Ryu the Tatsu super works best, it can be mashed for massive hits. It works on most characters but some big characters bounce out before the last hit like Hulk, Thor, and I think Nemesis. I’m probably going to work on a video and post it in the Haggar section.

Two things:

  1. I really don’t see much of a difference between Frank first or Frank second. Both can work if your team is built correctly. I will say that Frank does NOT belong in the anchor position (SMH Noel Brown).

  2. Snapshot after cart hyper? Please explain, because that’s impossible unless you omitted a combo between the hyper and the Snapshot (possible in certain situations), a certain assist (but this is a DHC, so there’s no way), or XF.

Started running Ryu/Frank/Sentinal. All pretty simple characters, synergy is ok, Ryu has a command overhead so that with Shopping Cart assist means it’s much easier to open people up, drones are drones etc.

Normally play keepaway with Ryu until I get a hit, and then TAC into Frank. Do the THC in the corner (since Tatsu super does hard-knockdown) or the fake DHC glitch if midscreen (Tools super xx Ryu Activate -> Tag in Frank take photo, normally level 3 or 4 depending on hits)

Does anyone know if you can setup Tatsu super and then tag Frank in to do the level up camera after? From standard combos into the Tatsu super it seems to take too long to tag him in and every time I try to do the Tools super to make it whiff then take photo it seems to always hit. Maybe I’m doing it too fast?

Also, you can do standard combo into HSF then DHC ASAP into shopping cart super, some of the drones will hit after the shopping cart super allowing you to take a photo as well

There’s a glitch of sorts where you can do the cart hyper, DHC into a ‘DHC glitch-capable hyper’ such as a Wolverine’s Berserker Charge or Wesker’s counter super, and the opponent will be in a flying state exactly like the DHC glitch. You can then tag Frank back in, and get an OTG snapshot. It doesn’t reset the damage scaling, but it works. Noel was doing it yesterday at Big Two.

I’m currently using:
Wesker (OTG)
Frank (Shopping Cart)
Spencer (Wire Grapple M)

A simple Wesker combo into air exchange gets Frank to level 3.
:d::l::m::h: , :qcf::m::l:, :d::m::h::s:, :u:, :m::m::h::s:, Dash +:a2::df::h: :s:, :u::m::m::h: Air Exchange, :m::m::h::d::h:, :qcf::s: to Survival Techniques for ~689.5k

To be honest though, Wesker’s counter hyper doesn’t work that well for that setup, as it has a lot of recovery frames (28) while Berserker Charge has little (8). I couldn’t get Survival Techniques DHC Rhino Charge, tag in, photo to work at all. I imagine Firebrand’s Luminous Body power-up hyper would work really well though because it has NO recovery frames.

I’ve been trying Wesker/Trish/Frank lately. My current level 4 combo is this:

Wesker = Samurai Edge (gun)
Trish = Peekaboo (air trap) :a1:
Frank = Shopping Cart (shopping cart) :a2:

c.:l::m:s.:h:/:a1:jump:m::h::s:, land, c.:m:s.:h::qcf::m:, dash, s.:m:/:a2:s.:h:, :s:, neutral super jump, :m::h:, :qcf:+:atk::atk:, mash, DHC to Trish ( :qcb:+:atk::atk:), hard tag Frank, wavedash close to the target as it’s getting hit, super jump, :s:, land, snap photo. (into hypers if necessary)

Usually gets 50+ hits, the part before the DHC builds a bar of meter. Kinda happy with it, though Wesker can also just do his BNB combo from the new testament and still build a bar.

I’m well aware of that trick. It’s just that the guy I quoted claims that his friend often does cart super DIRECTLY INTO Snapshot. This is impossible, and no special tactics are mentioned.

Interested in getting thoughts on what Doom assist to run with. I’ve got Taskmaster on point, Frank 2nd and Doom as anchor. Taskmaster runs horizontal arrows so I’m wondering if I’m better off with rocks or hidden missiles with Doom. I guess I could go Doom plasma beam and Taskmaster with the angled arrows to cover the air…

I’m planning on using Trish with Frank because of dat Round Harvest. Which of Trish’s assists would be best for Frank?

I’m using Haggar/Trish/Frank and Trish’s Low Voltage is decent for helping Frank get in and do some roll mixups, but the durability of the projectile sucks hard. Just gotta watch out for punishes due to her staying out for a fair bit.

Hrm… I’ll test it out. Thanks for the info!

I prefer Peekaboo, just because it’s easy to trap people with it using roll shenanigans, and leads into basically full combos for Frank.

I’ll test both out. I wish Trish would have an easy “Beast Mode” assist like Doom has. >:(
