Group Photo Ops- The Frank West Team Building Thread

Good looks son. I said dorm though but it’s okay your point got through. I’ll try Gram if Vajra ain’t workin out. I just want an assist that’s gdlk outta combos. And I need it to get Frank in since it’s a pretty good assist for keeping characters grounded.

I’ll Dexter it up in the Lab for a couple weeks.

Yep, any ground chain you can hit confirm into RFF works fine!

Iron fist + Frank!!!

Iron fist on point, so he can abuse that amazing cart assist. Land anything into crumple? Raw tag in frank and go c.M, c.H, S, MMH, j.2H, call assist from third character to continue, snapshot, S, superjump, H,S, Snapshot.

Instant level 3 to 4 frank, pending what assists were used in the combo. Level 1 frank need not apply.

Bonus: I use dormammu’s dark hole assist in this combo and it builds over a bar of meter. So if I land it close to the round’s start, I can raw tag in frank, combo to “weapon X” super, then DHC BACK to Iron fist’s column super. Easy 800K, level 3 or 4 frank waiting in the wings, and ironfist out with a shopping cart backing him.

The only thing is iron fists assist aren’t quite…good. So there’s that.

Cosign this, I figured this one out also. It’s sooo mean.

dah finally

my branespload.

@EricTwist
haha yeah my bad i thought it said doom. vajra is good for getting in but gram is easier to use in combos. i played dorm as my second for awhile and dark hole works great to continue combos, even for mid-screen. just do your bnb. call doom. snapshot. launch into bnb again. snapshot and he gets to lvl 3 with atleast 500K damage. you could stretch it out by doing MHS after dark hole. then call gram and snapshot. launch with H and S. then snapshot into super. probably get you lvl 4 atleast and maybe 650K (you will have enough super to DHC so it could elad to char kill). BASICALLY, just replace that combo in the vid with dormammu dark hole instead of nemesis launcher slam. and i dont think you should sacrifice a godlike assist to lengthen your combo. i think strider vajra is too good. so yeah.

To share my team- I’ve been running Ghost Rider- Hellfire, Frank West- Shopping Cart, Taskmaster- H Shot (forward).

If Ghost Rider lands a combo and ends up with 2 meters, he can do the full spirit of vengeance (bike) hyper and a DHC into a whiffed Survival Techniques, which lets Frank get a very easy snapshot to reach level 3 since it’s a hard knockdown (I can also combo after the snapshot with x-factor for a full air-string into another snapshot for level 4 if I choose to).

If Frank is on point and Ghost Rider is alive, my bnb with Hellfire assist gets him him to level 3 and does about 580,000 dmg for 1 meter. If Ghost Rider straight out dies and Frank has to come in at level 1, I can do a combo ending in a THC with Taskmaster for an instant level 4 and a ton of damage (I can even throw in another hyper after the snapshot if I have the meter).

The beauty of this team is that Ghost Rider with arrows and shopping cart assists behind him is a monster, Taskmaster is a powerful anchor who can make comebacks and help Frank get in with arrows, and Frank levels up very easily on this team whether he has to start the combo or not. Funny how the guy from Dead Rising works very well with the skull-faces.

Saw Jint using Frank’s Tools of Survival L assist on the CC Ultimate tourney stream. James Chen said that it was because he liked the chip Frank deals at higher levels with it. It also has that weird “pulling-in” quality. Can someone look into that assist and check out its viability?

which nova assist should I use, they both wallbounce.

I mentioned this in the Vergil forums as well, but if Vergil hasn’t used his ground bounce yet, he can end a combo with Lunar Phase and have enough time to hard tag to Frank and get a camera in. Using the spiral swords super once, it’s not all that difficult to get a 50-hit combo to safely get Frank to level 4. Someone already mentioned the DHC method of getting Frank to level 4 as well, which is also a nice option, but the hard tag route feels like less of a waste. You can get Frank to level 4 (and have enough meter to cancel the camera with super) in the first combo of the match.

centurion rush (the one that goes up and then down) i think you have to block high but nonetheless, use that one

With Frank on point, I decided to change Chris’ assist to the punch combo today in the interest of speeding up the leveling process. Dormammu simply wasn’t working for me. Still on the hunt for a 3rd. I’m thinking, I’m hoping for Wesker to work.

If you call in Chris before taking a snapshot, then time the snapshot well enough, you can get the OTG bounce from the camera into Chris’ second punch for a hard knockdown and a second photo, netting you double the PP for an easy Level 3 at least, and of course a hyper. It’s simple, easy, and inexpensive, but if you’re too far away, it unfortunately won’t work, though I’ve had it work from rather surprising distances.

yeah been using Chris’ boulder punch for the double snap shots I like it alot. Is there any other assist with a hard knockdown? Man how Haggar’s assist woulda been godlike with Frank if it still had that hard knockdown.

don’t know if u guys saw this yet. lists all the compatible THC for Frank. some are only for corner and some level to 4 or 5. helps a shit load. the list of characters are in the info. mad props to this guy

My main team as of now is Frank (Shopping Cart) / Dante (Jam Session) / Spencer (Wire Grapple Slant Shot), however I’m somewhat considering changing either Spencer’s assist to the Horizontal Grapple or Dante’s to Weasel Shot since I lack any proper ground defense for him. So far most of my issues with Frank is closing in on enemies with superior keepaway skills since Level 1 Frank lacks the neat Dodge Roll. I wouldn’t lie if I admitted my scrubby self relies on TACs to get Frank in at times too often, and Spencer usually proves to be a good anchor for the Frank + Dante BFF team-up. Hoping I can get this to work.

@Cadence
horizontal shot is good. i like to use armor peircer to lengthen frank combos

I keep forgetting to see if Deadpool’s & Ryu’s THCs can help Frank out.

Yes on deadpools. I believe it’s a level 3 if you mash it right.

So I just realized that Spencer’s Horizontal Grapple can easily pull an opponent down to the ground after a snapshot for another free snapshot in pretty much any given situation. If you use the Bottom’s Up, you can get to Level 4 with just one relaunch BnB combo.

Fucking awesome.

I was beginning to become curious about this assist myself, as my new team construct does not exactly take much advantage of the shopping cart, and I could always do well with a little extra chip from the chainsaw oar.

EDIT: I played with Frank’s Beta assist for a little while and am loving it so far. The chip damage on it is massive, and when combined with Chris’ flamethrower in a corner, it reaches about 230,000 damage.

Without a varied assortment of teams to try it on, though, I would have to only guess that between the shopping cart and the tools that the decision would come down to both preference and team synergy. I, for one, adore the chip damage and take great delight in using it before one of Wesker’s teleports, or during Chris’ corner beatdowns.

I think the problem with it, though, may be that Frank runs a greater risk of KO without that cart pushing and pressuring threats away, and of course, if you can’t or for whatever reason decide not to get him to at least Level 4 before switching out, it’s practically useless. Also, you really don’t want to have to start off combos with this thing, as the ten weak hits totally murder the damage scaling. Carries and finishes some combos just as well if not better than the cart, though, it seems. I love chip enough to run these risks at least for a while, though. What do some other teams think?

ALSO: I’ve been playing around with easy routes to Level 4 and 5, and though I have been able to do so with Wesker’s and Chris’ combined alpha assists, it’s simply too unreliable to do consistently, at least for me right now.

Until I can figure that out, I’ve been favoring a regular 17-or-so-hit combo into a snapshot to Chris’ punch combo, to another snapshot, cancelled with X-Factor, and finally a third snapshot. Chris’ alpha reaches pretty far, and the X-Factor isn’t horribly difficult to time. I lose an X-Factor, but it’s an easy road until I can figure something else out.

You could always use wall bounces. I happen to be running Wesker’s Ghost Butterfly at the same time to extend Chris’ combos, and it is actually more potent than Chris’ punches for helping Frank level, especially when used in tandem with another hard knockdown assist, just a lot harder to pull them both in one combo due to hitstun degradation. Totally possible, though, I’ve done it. That said, I am beginning to reconsider Chris’ assist . . .

TL;DR: Frank’s beta assist is pretty damn cool so far, but may not work for all teams or players, also Chris’ boulder punch, as well as any other assist with a wall bounce or hard knockdown is great for a cheap second snapshot, and two snapshots in a row is entirely possible with proper X-Factor cancelling.
