Grappler Baki + Martial Arts Manga

I was actually reading shamo for a while. That manga is too crucial fucking main character became an animal after a while. But he started taking steroids, and what not lolol. Doing anything to win no matter what he didn’t give a damn.

Shari: I read Shamo. That was a great manga. Huge fan right here.

Hey Shari, if you do get Garouden let me know so I can play you. :o

Kamui admittedly didn’t know how to play the game, or any of the systems in there, so it might not be so bad, and I’ve heard plenty of reviews there, I only haven’t bought it because of the issue with story mode though.

EDIT: I also color baki panels sometimes when I’m free, here’s my thread with some of the stuff I’ve colored, lemme know what you think. :]

I’ll look into finding it.

Does it have online play ?

Otherwise playing might be kinda hard since we are in opposite parts of the world.
Me: Europe
You: US

Btw have you tried the followup Fist or Twist ?

It seems like the same problem with no hitstun is evident from just the trailer but it might have other things over the original.

And while i’m on the subject how about the Baki game ?

Looks like utter trash but i might be wrong.

Geez! That Baki game looks a PS1 release.

Yeah, even Itagaki admitted that the Baki game was pretty terrible, which is why he wrote a sidenote in an editorial saying he wish he could get Namco to do a second game.

I mean the game’s alright as far as representation, just heard that it was pretty clunky and slow, but for $7.00 or less if you get the pal version, that’s not too bad, if nothing else just for novelty purposes, to which I plan to pick it up at some point.

edit: a review - http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/review/R67402.html, if nothing else, it’s atleast worth 7 dollars for a cheap kick.

Fist or Twist introduced a regional damage system, where you can cause bone fractures, shatter limbs, stuff like that(think Tai Feng or Fight Club).

The hitsun thing looks annoying, but remember Kamui only played it 2 hours, and was just fooling with the controls. That’s not enough time to do a review by any means, and I’ve heard lots of great things elsewhere by people who actually DID know the systems.

Consider that the game has: Regional damage, throws, an actual GROUND game(not seen too often in most non-wrestling games, though the Tough video game also has an extended ground system), throws, grabs, submissions, etc, so I’m sure it’s more than just a button mash fest, and seeing as how this is by the same guys that did the victorious boxers series, I’m willing to trust that they made more than a button mash game. Shit, I can button mash in street fighter/tekken/etc and beat a person who’s only played for 2 hours or so.

edit2: Tough: Dark Fight - http://www.ncsx.com/2005/ncs121205/tough_dark_fight.htm

I watched the full anime series and then it just stops completely cutting of the much needed conclusion. The fans need closure just like Shenmue fans need a Shenmue 3. I guess I’ll have to read the manga.

A new Baki game needs to come out already.

Arksys seem to handle anime fighters quite well looking at their work on HNK and Sengoku Basara. Them doing a Baki or Garouden game would be pretty awesome. Arksys has a fascination with every character having an unique mechanic in their games and that would fit in quite well with the baki universe. Shinogi Kosho would be a very interesting character to play as for instance.

But i would rather have another anime season of Baki or a first season of Garouden.

Meh. The Death Row arc was one of the weakest arcs in the series imo. I’d rather have a Garouden season 1 or a Baki game done by Arksys than Death Row animated.

Though a Raitai Saga OVA would be too beastly. I would love if they could do a combo of the art in the anime, with the fluid animation of the ova. >.<

If they would only animate one season i would want the chinese challenge one easily.
Plot could be edited to fit without any real worries coming straight from the Maximum tournament.

I’m not sure if death row arc refers to the arc with Baki in prison with Olivia or The prisoners fighting the tournament fighters. But if there is one arc i simply want to forget it is the one with Ali jr.

It was just… dumb.

Death Row Arc = Refers to the five fighters breaking out of their death rows to seek defeat.

Unchained Oliva Arc = refers to when Baki nabbed bush to go to prison to fight Oliva.

Ali jr. arc was good at first, it just ended in a huge disappointment, Itagaki definitely dropped the ball there, but it was not nearly as bad or as disconjointed as Death Row. :bluu:

I have Fist or Twist, haven’t played it in months though…and I don’t know where my copy of the game is ^_^;;;
A Garouden anime would need A LOT of cash put into it when it comes to fights, since those are best seen with top quality animation, any less wouldn’t do the fights justice.

I heard that Hanma Yujiro appears in Garouden, is that true or does he only appear in the games?

I watched all the anime episodes (my favorites are Jack Hanma, Katsumi Orochi, and Gouki Shibukawa). Honestly, I don’t think Baki will catch Yujiro’s level anytime soon .

I also agree that the Ali.Jr arc had a terrible ending. I mean c’mon, at least go out with a bang and not like a bitch.

But Pickle is just straight pissing me off.

Ah.

I felt like the Death Row could have been good if it had been brought together more closely in relation to the plot and the characters relations to eachother as it is, it seems like simply a bunch of very violent random fights with no real reasoning behind them.

The only one that seemed to have some form of reason behind it would be the whole Shinshinkai as a group against one of the prisoners taking revenge for one of their members but everyone else just seemed so … random.

Yuujirou only appears as a secret char in the Garouden games, he doesn’t appear in the Garouden series proper as that would break the original storyline.

I agree with you on the anime though, I would definitely want it to be done as either an ova, or a high quality anime studio. The fact that Garouden was popular enough to get a live action movie doesn’t rule this out, though I’d suspect they’d use Itagaki’s designs, as the character designs on the original volumes are rough and gritty to say the least as you should know already.

I didn’t read the hole thread but I’ve watched the Baki anime and I’m reading the manga. That’s a manly anime y’all just like Hokuto no Ken.

I’m still waiting for a new anime season though…

Kinda surprised by all the people that came out of the woodwork but aren’t posting ^^;

have the latest chapters been translated yet

ive been spoilerd already but i wanna read
