Grappler Baki + Martial Arts Manga

Seeing as how I’ve polluted several threads with my baki fandom, I’ve decided to make a thread for the series. I know we have a few fans on here(and some who probably don’t want to admit it) so yeah, this is the baki thread. :lovin:

For those who don’t know, Baki’s a manga about Baki, a fighter trying to beat his father Yuujirou, who’s the strongest creature on earth. He goes around fighting many opponents, and mixing martial arts to become the strongest and beat his dad. Baki’s author is Keisuke Itagaki, Itagaki is also illustrating Baku Yumemakura’s Garouden novels in manga form.

Since the original manga isn’t being publically scanned, here’s the best viewing order to get most of the story(though there’s some things that are censored or switched around in the anime, but until the original gets scanned nothing to do too much about it):

Grappler Baki OVA
Baki Anime seasons 1 and 2(kid saga, champion saga, and maximum tournament, the champion saga covers the parts of the ova, but there’s a battle or two missing, not too big a loss but watch it anyway.)

then from the end of the maximum tournament the manga picks up with New Grappler Baki,

I’ve been wanting to see this anime for the longest time as I’ve always seen stills from it that made it look awesome. Sadly, I haven’t been able to find a working torrent of the Grappler Baki anime.

Hehehe I know, Raitai Saga was definitely one of my favorite sagas, Kaku Kaioh vs Yuujirou = win.

The anime series is pretty god. I have Grappler Baki and Baki the Grappler. :lol: My favorite character is Doppo. :karate:

Baki Son of Ogre is great so far.

I just wish I knew how often they release a chapter.

Where can I read the first set when Baki first fought his dad when he was 13? I can’t find it. I’ve read all the others up to the most recent chapter.

The first baki series hasn’t been openly translated.

That shithead at wildfang or whatever they call themselves keeps all the trans to himself, and you have to pay to join.

Just watch the anime, which covers all the way up to New Grappler Baki which is where you can actually find scans. There is a torrent for it on demonoid and I think pirate bay-- but the torrent I got was dubbed, but honestly it wasn’t so bad.

Unfortunately, you just have to work with raws and translations since no one to my knowledge has actually put them together.

Another bit of bad news is that the guy that supplied most of the raws for Baki just left Japan-- so the updates on raws from now on will either be spotty getting 2-3 weeks at a time, or just later than everything else.

Currently, the lastest chapter was 169.

Basically, there are vols of baki the grappler(original series), and Son of ogre, they’re released at most once a month, and latest every few 2-3 months. The group doing it is the wild fang project, but they charge you $30 bucks for inclusion into the “club”(one time fee, at which point they send you all the current stuff and you get an email every month or so). I watched the anime series recently. I enjoyed it a lot until Baki went away, came back, and entered into the tournament. The series actually contained growth and felt interesting until it became strictly 100% fighting. I know that’s the REASON a lot of people enjoy it, but it just steered me away. I finished it, but it would have been much more enjoyable had it not worked out the way it did.

I hate that guy so much! I meant he is a shithead, not you. What was really funny was that he was interviewed on the frontpage mangahelpers, and somehow wound up banned.

Anyway, to comment on your Naruto post, before it seemed like Yujirou was way up there. In a top-ten list he’d be 1-7 or so, then Olivia and then Kaku.

Baki is dumb as fuck if he thinks Pickle is stronger than his dad. Well, maybe physically stronger, but Yujirou is still the world’s most powerful creature.

And Ali Jr was arguably the worst arc I’ve ever read in my life. It was like 2 volumes for him to get KOed before he even realized it.

Stabby: I know you meant me no offense, and none taken. FUCKING YES on Ali jr. what a fucking job that character took, was even worse than Sasori. I knew Jack would kick his ass, but for him to go through all of that, COMPLETE the Full Body Acton Boxing method, and still get 1 shotted by Baki made me want to throw up.

The most amazing thing about Itagaki to me is that he does two series-- Garouden and Baki. Yeah, Garou is only bi-weekyl, and yeah, he only does the art but still that is a fuck of a lot of work every week.

^Yeah true, I don’t know how Itagaki does it, especially with the sheer level of detail in both series.

Hahah, I think Ali turned out into such wasted potential, one of the few people that should be able to challenge Baki, and jobbed, horribly.

Jack is another character I think Itagaki jobbed, especially in the Pickle fight, :/, but atleast Jack proved Pickle was anything but indestructible…lulz…
