Kid Saga, the anime throws the order out of whack
The real order goes: Champion Saga -> Kid Saga -> Maximum Tournament
Kid Saga, the anime throws the order out of whack

Thanks for clearing that up bro, I was confused as hell too
I knew of Orochi being a blatant reference to Mas Oyama aswell as Shozan and Karelin of course but the others i had never realized.
Considering the MMA culture of Garouden they need to have a Fedor reference character.
God that would be awesome.
Since this is SRK afterall does anyone have any experience with Garouden Breakblow ?
It includes Yujiro which is what has made me interested in it:
That game looks kinda weird. I think I may have saw it before.
I always thought Kid Saga came first.

EDIT: Also
Chuck Lewis -> Lennox Lewis(Chuck looks all jamaican and stuff, but he uses english words like “bloke”)
Ian McGregor -> Mike Tyson(even though the real tyson’s image appears in SoO)
Ali Jr. -> Laila Ali(pretty obvious connection even though Laila’'s a girl)
The guy Great Tatsumi beat up in the first flashback before fighting crybaby Sakura -> Hulk Hogan obviously
Motobu Ginzo -> Choki Motobu
the masked wrestler in the maximum tournament -> Ultimate Warrior(wrestler)
man knocked out by Ali Jr. with 18 oz gloves -> Wanderlei Silva
Bob Igory(the man who challenged Tatsumi to a real fight) -> Igor Vorvachinian(I think that’s how you spell his name ><)
Too bad on the failed mechanics might still be fun to try solely for the characters though.
Wasnt there a character based on Wanderlei Silva? I think he was in the tournament arc of New Grappler Baki.
^He was in between the prisoner’s arc, and the raitai saga, he was the vale tudo fighter Ali Jr. knocked out with 18 oz gloves.
Thanks BEWD, I was looking for that guy in the manga right now.
But I also reading somewhere that Yujiro is so strong, that AIDS and cancer cant kill him, if this is true then thats some funny shit.
Does anyone that reads Baki and Garouden also Read Shamo ?
http://www.onemanga.com/Shamo/
Synopsis: At the age of sixteen Ryo Narushima was a genius and looked to have no trouble of getting into Tokyo University and joining the elite of society. However, that summer something cracked inside Ryo’s head. With a small knife he brutally murdered both of his parents only leaving his sister alive and cowering in a corner. It is at this grotesque incident that our story begins.
It’s very similar to Baki and Garouden in that it is a very violent and stylistic martial arts manga. But it has quite a bit more adult themes in it.
To be completely honest it is probably my favourite Manga of all time.
If you like Baki and Garouden i am fairly certain you will enjoy it aswell.
Strike: Baki said that in the beginning of SoO ^^
Shari: longtime Shamo reader here, shame that the litigation brought it crashing to a halt.
I think I should just re-read SoO so I wont look so stupid asking questions.
^Lol you don’t look stupid at all dude, there’s a lot of missing information due to the way things are done, so I don’t mind answeing those.
Did anyone else find the hand wrestling battle between Tatsumi and Kurama cool as shit? I first read that scene over a year ago, and because of that went out and bought this:
http://www.hammarsports.com/handstrengthgripstrength.html
My grip is still nowhere near Tatsumi’s though ^^;
Could you explain a bit more what happened to it ?
All i know it the company releasing it died and then it go picked up once again and then nothing.
Are there any chapters/volumes available that are not on Onemanga ?
Also have you seen the movie ?
Trailer:
Is it worth picking up ?
Thanks BEWD.
I cant wait to read the latest volume so I can see Baki beat the shit out of Pickle.
The company didn’t die, Akio Tanaka decided he wasn’t getting enough credit, so he decided to sue the writer Hashimoto for millions of yen. Hashimoto was not gonna roll over and pony up the cash to Tanaka for obvious reasons, and they’ve been in court since july of 2008.
for years, Hashimoto has been credited as the creator, which is what Tanaka suddenly decided to have a problem with last year(even though it’s been credited that way for years)
Here’s where it gets murkier:
Hashimoto wrote the original manuscript, and did some rough character sketches.
Tanaka’s saying he should be considered the creator, since he refined the manuscript and finished the character designs.
The litigation has been going back and forth. There was recently a statement that came out by Tanaka I’m guessing, that Shamo will re-continue when his shitty new manga Kubukimon finishes, and he gets his money. Though I wonder how he’s gonna pull that off if Hashimoto decides to no longer write the story. >_>
Shamo Movie:
Pretty mxied reviews, but in my personal opinion I liked it, I felt they kept a good pace for the sheer amount of material they had to condense to fit it into a movie(the entire Prison arc AND Sugawara arc).
I think you’ll enjoy it if you don’t expect a 100% faithful representation, and give the filmmakers a little leeway with what they had to work with. There’s also a unique twist at the end that provides an alternate theory to Ryo’s imprisonment, probably just a twist made specifically for the movie, and I felt it was a cool thought.
Thanks for the explanation i’ll check out the movie.
Hopefully it will all work out in the end so the manga can continue.
^Yeah, right now they have no contact with each other, and are working on seperate projects, it’ll be interesting seeing that workspace if they do decide to collaborate again.
Also, here’s a small warning about Garouden ps2:
The story mode contains every single fight in the series, leading up to the novels conclusion, so stay away from it unless you want to know all the fights that occur.
Friend of mine picked the anime up recently. Loved it.
hey BEWD, would be awesome if u could hook me up too man
