I love the singleplayer but cannot play this game for more than few hours (gets very repetitive). I went online today to find it rather pointless. Felt like a shitty D class shooter with some driving in the mix. Anyways this was the first 360 game I bought besides xbl’s SF HF! Very good game but overrated.
I went to pick dwayne up to go see some titties and honked at him from the opposite side of the road. He was coming to the car and got lit up by a taxi. I pulled the driver out and murdered his ass. Cops saw it…

One time my brother parked so roman couldnt get out so he punched niko in the face and threw him out of the car and got out of the drivers side.
funny moment: getting chased by the cops. my car flies in to the water. i jump out. police car follows behind. lands on top of me and i die.
You know, the driving in this game is really starting to piss me off. It’s getting to the point where I don’t really like the game any more and all this waiting was just for nothing. I want to be able to have fun in vehicles and not feel tempted to just, “grab a cab” to get to where I need to be. I’m doing one mission right now, what’s ended up me going round and round in circles trying to catch this guy, because the cars I’m left with are pieces of shit. Hell I even got an NRG, crashed on the tiny little knock, you’re losing “x,” “x” got away. WTF! Are you serious?
I really hope they sort the driving out in some way, maybe make it so you can actually turn a corner. I just don’t feel that the game should be made so the computer has a better driving skill than you. Yes it has to have some degree of difficulty, but to be in a state where you have to spends days even weeks practicing with the breaks, just to remotely turn a corner is rediculous, imo. The AI has the advantage of being able to control it how it wants to, but a human has to go through laws of execution just to be on the same level.
That, imo for a sandbox game, is boring. I apreciate games which take skill, hell I’m posting on a fighting game board, but GTA isn’t a simulator. Maybe they had to tone down driving for some kind of “banning” issues, who knows? But if I wanted to drive realistically in a fast paced, always on the go game, I would get any of the hundred odd driving games out now days.
Basically every time I get in a vehicle on this game, I switch it off. So at this point in time, for me, GTAIV = fail…
Stop flooring it, brake on turns, learn the right speed. You cant go a million mph then try to make a sharp turn and then expect nothing to happen but perfect turns. Also on bikes you have to be more careful. On a bike you shouldnt go no more than half speed unless you’re on a straight away. Its easy to weave a bike through traffic when you’re going straight. At like a few hundred yards before a turn, brake…this will guarantee you that you will make the turn without falling off. Because if you do fall off, you’re going off in the air and you will most likely fail the chase.
The driving takes a little while to get used too. I had 112 missions failed in my first playthrough and most of those failures were on…you guessed it! Chase missions!. Now im at the construction site mission for Playboy on my second go, and I’ve only failed twice and I plan on keeping it that way.
I like the driving in this GTA.
The problem I have is that even when going at slow speeds, the AI is so much better at cornering and manuvering through vehicles. I should be able to catch them without having to go round and round, whether I’m flooring it or not. Even then, you have to floor it to make up the distance, otherwise you just keep going round and round again. Now I’m certainly not asking for OG driving in this game as yeah it would be broken, but cars having better handling than motorbikes? Come on? I still play the game and still enjoy the game, but it would be so much better if the drving gave you that little bit of give now and again…

The thing that helped me with th driving was changing the configuration to Classic so the gas would be X and the brake would be square like the old gta games. You basically take out the pressure sensitivity factor of it when you aren’t using the triggers. I haven’t had any problems since.

I feel that they tried too hard making the most realistic and dense game they’ve ever made. Hell it’s that realistic, I’m supprised you don’t get a wanted level for running a red light. I just don’t get the urge to jump on a bike and fly around the city that I used to get because the top speeds are so uncontrolable, you hardly ever go those speeds anyway. GTA has always been about good, fun gameplay, but to be honest I don’t really find the game fun at all. All the time I’m playing, I want to go back to SA because the content was distributed in such a better fasion.
Why do good vehicles only appear when you’re in a good vehicle? Why do I find the “best bike in the game” 20 minutes into play? Why do I get most of the way through the game to find I’ve driven all the vehicles all ready? Why are there no hidden vehicles? What do you expect me to do now, while there’s nothing else for me to do? Sell cars to the ship yard? Nope, can’t do that… Do some races for special cars? Nope, can’t do that… Fight off six stars in hope of scoring a tank? Nope, can’t do that… How about collecting 200 fucking pigeons, to get an attack hellicopter that’s so inaccurate, can’t blow up cars anyway… Fuck that!

I’m not usually one to whine, but after waiting 3 years for the game, it turned out almost everything I didn’t want it to be. I sure hope they address some of these issues in DLC (even though the game has already been played by August) because right now, there’s absolutely no incentive for me to play the game at all…

The driving was weird the first day, but it was because I was trying to floor turns like mentioned earlier. I started using the breaks more, the turns are no big deal. Don’t floor the breaks either…just practice, you’ll get the hang of it.
anybody else kind of bored with this game. most of the missions are the same thing over and over. i haven’t tried online yet, so maybe that will spark some interest
