Gouken SF4 Ultra Updates

I’m not sure this is an accurate assessment.

Decapre is no way another Cammy. I’m actually looking forward to fighting those “old broken” characters. You have Ultra mechanics and they don’t, plus we have so many more tools since Vanilla… Kongo was our worst nerf (imo), otherwise it has been almost universal buffs with a smattering of stupid nerfs like stun/dmg on kongo and less stun on DF throw, oh and recovery on missed df throw and df kick not being overhead, but otherwise…

Welp, it looks like I will have a pocket Decapre.

And I say this not b/c I want to play with Decapre (well sort of lol), but I find it easier to learn match ups if you are familiar with the character b/c you get to understand why/how people beat you with that character… then you can gather that data and apply it to your character.

ill def be labbn with her just soo much damage…leads me to think there is some flaw in the design to exploit, something im kinda noticing with the way they’ve balanced as they say a lot of this game…they throw a bandaid on shit when some other shits the cause of shit…oh well…fight your rival!!!

lets put a forum gag order on mention of ex tatsu being illasfunkkkkk… which it def sounds to be better in the least nut I think it still has a gaping hole in ex tatsu on its airborne trajectory where we whiff lot of stuff, it will still be there im sure, meaning we may miss folks that are standing at about around at inch above and in front of gouken and are airborne…I have a few replays im sure where I can find a hole that is commonly an issue when I use extatsu, not a common issue im having, rather a common issue I guess in the design of his rotation of hurbox hes facing the other way hurtbox wise but his animation clearly shows him whiffing, always been like that alllllways…

anyhpw…also it feels like near its zenith it should “wraparound” a couple of times and hit the backside too I think that would help alottttt against like gief all the way down to blanka

And it’s probably not going to get nerfed. People on the AE Gen Disc forum think Gouken is going to be bottom 10 in Ultra, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

LOL Ryu’s master is bottom 10 how funny.

I was going at it with a Rose player and I still can’t figure out why Capcom gave her a broken aka Chun Li like back dash and she is a fireball character like Gouken…

I’m going to be going to the public testing on Saturday. Anyone want me to test for something? We already know his changes up to the arcade release, but is there anything else you want me to look for? I plan on going only to test. I’m going to offer me losing in exchange for testing most of the time so hopefully people will take it.

Leave comments if you want me to test anything.

I plan on testing regular tatsus, max distance of LP palm off a cancelled st.lk and cancelled cr.lk, st.lk frame start up, and where this deadzone for EX tatsu that we have seen is at. Combo fiend should be there so I plan on talking to him about Gouken if I can…

It is possible that he’ll just tell you what the changes are if you ask.

See if there are any additional changes to c.MP, if you can, although I doubt it. I am also curious about the start-up of s.lk… could be useful, if they want it to be.

I would like from you to confirm the range of cr. Mp to palm as well st. Lk to palm, and palm movement itself, we already know how good ex tatsu is, that’s all from me!!!

if your gonna talk to combofiend…see if they’ll make ex warp palm connect fully from a fireball punish at like 2/3rds of the screen

you could test if there are stealth buffs to the kongo zone by doing that with cr.lp + cr.mp from ryu and akuma. ryu should work, akuma inconsistent… at least kongo was mentioned quite regurlarly in the public change requests.

also:
os tech cr.mk still -5fr on block
range of far lk x ex tatsu
does ex tatsu catches low limbs like sweeps when out of range (hitbox validation)
ex tatsu fadc cross under (side change) when point blank (reversal) or mid ange (validation ex tatsu reversal in ultra1)

there are reports that Akuma’s close MK was buffed in activation range due to “force stand” functionality. Could the activation range buff also happened for Gouken? There were quite a number of requests to change close.MK to a command normal on the CU boards.

After seeing the above video, I really feel as though you should try to ask about further improvements or changes to c.MP that will make it combo to Hadoken… maybe not more hitstun, maybe just reduced pushback, active frames, with more recovery to make it a “real” poke.

Hehe, just watched the vid and the presentation of the buffs are misleading in regard to viability as all of them were done near point blank… Which good akuma will try to sweep you point blank? And why not directly going into EX tatsu then… hehe, just funny…

As much as I love the color yellow. I like gouken with darker color schemes. Which is why I choose the pasty gouken lol

At least now gouki players can’t abuse whiffed demon palm <cr.lp lk bullshit they usually do.

I’ve recently come to appreciate the extra range of LP.Palm over the alternative method of a small jolt forward as it was rumoured to be a while back, even though I would have preferred the later before.

Since LP.Palm is punishable on block at any distance with the right character.
I’m hoping the extra range can make it safe at max range now. (Although I wish it was safe, -1/-2)

And no regular tatsu vortex.
I’m happy.

Also reading the comments on videos like the above seem to signify loads of people might be considering Gouken again.
