maybe far.lk x lp hado wont be that bad on absolute max range as a poke string when “punishing” a whiffed normal, i.e. hitting the limb not the body. depends of buffer specs if hado comes out wether hit or whiffed and counter focus range. reactionary jump over fireball could still be hit with extatsu or kongo probably… on a second thought, cr.mp may be better for that as low and 1fr quicker.
we will see, but in the moment i also only see far.lk x extatsu with a big maybe as i do not want to whiff sky rocket in max dmg punishes…
I’m thinking far lk x LP hado but charge that shit til they try to pop you out of it with their own Standing poke,
meanwhile your buffering ex tatsu, or Super or Denjin inside that gohado…and then BAP!
That’s how I see it too. Especially given there is a visual cue of “Delayed Wakeup” when they do it, I see myself easily being able to figure out that timing in a few weeks and I’ll be right back where I am now with manual ambiguous safe jumps all day. Gouken is gonna be OP.
I can imagine, if the hitbox of ex tatsu at 5fr start up stays as good as it seemed during loc tests, extatsu x fadc – U1 could end up as the new LOL combo of SF4.
Sweep on gouken’s block during footsies? 482DMG! Anything being -5fr disadvantage or more? 482DMG even at ranges! U1 may end up as the golden standard again. Even as double Ultra it will still be 382DMG. Super will be obsolete. Game plan will be as lame as possible, building up Ultra meter via fireball focusing as well as the usual ex meter building and at the end of the round hitting that one combo for 482DMG. It is certainly no problem to build up three ex meter each round.
Hopefully there will be no bad surprises and ex tatsu will end up that good…
^ it’s a 5 frame throw… But it wasn’t really a nerf, you had to tech it in a certain window or he’d throw you anyway. They just normalized the window to make it consistent with teching throws.
The overall time to tech it is the same, just the gap that you couldn’t tech before is now tech-able.
So do you mean the difference in start up of normal 3fr throw and the 5fr b.throw is now techable? Meaning the last two 2fr start up of b.throw will be techable instead that b.throw grabs the first 2fr start up of the opp throw?
I see, so it’s actually just a correction, thanks for the response.
I see back throw more as a “fear” that the opponent has of it more than the easiness of landing it. As they tend to try and tech a lot to avoid it.
Yeah, we had to tech twice before because of that non tech able window and Gouken will throw people even though they teched if they mashed in that nontech window. Now they should be able to consistently tech him as a normal throw.
My understanding of the back throw change is that you now have a bigger window to tech back throw.
Before, you could tech too “early” and get thrown anyway. I believe what they did was make it so you could tech “early” (for a normal throw) or “late” (for the backthrow) and now either one will tech backthrow.
Just go into training, and tech normal tick throw with cr.tech ten times in a row, only hitting crouch tech once, this way you have a rythm down. Now switch forward throw to back throw and watch yourself get thrown if you cr.tech it like a forward throw.
With the new “cahnge” I assume this will no longer happen.
This is my understanding as well; they have expanded the back throw tech window to include the frames before the current window, where teching was impossible.
^^ Now I’m confused. How is any of this any different from what I said??
Normal throw animations play for 7 frames and will check the previous 12 frame input to check for the tech input. Goukens back throw had a gap where it wouldn’t take the input if you pressed too early, thus why he throws people even if they teched and why people tech multiple times vs Backthrow to ensure the input gets read. They just got rid of the gap so you can tech it properly now.
Ok so a buddy of mine (who is an awesome Gouken player and scientist himself) sent me this video of Gaku (probably the best Gouken researcher in Japan) on some of his USF4 combos.
If this doesn’t get you excited, i don’t know what will! But i love the different ways he uses his new toosl. CHeck it out and leave your thoughts!
