You have a nice little OS of sorts from s.LK. You throw it out and buffer ex.tatsu, if the s.lk connects you get a nice chunk of damage, if it whiffs nothing happens. That’s all the s.lk cancel really gets us though.
If you don’t want to use meter, sc.mp should always go into hado->c.mp->hado or palm. The link is easier than the “old” j.mk->sc.mp->c.HP->hado and does more damage, and combos into ultra 2 in the corner. It’s just better. j.mk/divekick->sc.mp->c.HP->hado is dead.
Similarly, c.mp combos into ex pain train now, so j.mk/divekick->sc.mp->c.mp->ex palm is similar damage to the “old” c.HP combo and is an easier link. On fatties you can insert a hado between sc.mp and c.mp.
After the first cr mp. It pushes you back so far that you can’t get cls st hk to come out. You can link cls st hk and then cr mp, but that’s something you can do now.
if it really works similar to ryu (not only point blank or quite close) then this would be the biggest buff he could get. i hope and pray until i can test it myself…
seemingly combofiend wanted to improve goukens offense and footsie game, hopefully…
Gouken c.mp have nowhere near the range of Ryu, c.mk, keep in mind. It is not going to be as good as c.mk for sure. But yes. You can combo into non-counter hit one fairly close, but not point blank.
yeah, cr.mp is not as good as ryu cr.mk, although similar range, it has only 2 active frames. question is the range, does it combo to hado with finger (unlikely), wrist, forearm or only elbow in term of range. depending on range it could be huge and provide a hit confirm in fadc in cr.hk (or maybe even cr.hp x rush punch) during footsies midscreen (!).
this could totally change gouken’s damage output in a range, which was quite weak before and change his spacing gameplan when having two bars.
King Blacktoofs vid with it modded in shows the distance isn’t far at all, in fact I fear it works no further than Far MP cancel into hadou(and I fear that might be even further than the distance cMP combos) I think Gouken can survive if these changes are all he gets, but I think they might need to dial up how good they are.
I’ve said this(well on streams, not int hese forums I don’t think) but my Juri is currently way more excited about her long list of buffs than my Gouken is about his -.- Especially withthe treatments some characters are getting out there. Come on capcom, just don’t neglect him.
