Gouken Frustration Thread, Go ahead let it out!

Ok, theres a difference between reacting and anticipating.

Verily so.
Just a curiosity, average reaction time + dudleys startup is about 21 frames. Now assuming maybe you have intense human reactions you can get that down to 17 frames(for refernce I’m only slightly faster than average and would maybe have 16, I don’t have stellar reactions). This doesn’t even count the amount of frames it takes to execute the input(but buffering can remove that ofcourse). Goukens crouch jab is 14 frames. Even intense reactions make it virtually impossible to punish Goukens slow ass jab.(Now chun players, in same scenario have 11 frames, still incredibly hard though).

Anticaption and actual guessing + tells change the game entirely though. It’s a whole fun different part of the game, that can be loads of fun to think about

Test your reaction time in the link below. Best I could get was .29 which is about 17 frames, but that was once out of maybe fifty tries. My average was about .31, roughly 19 frames.

I’m sick of having to guess between cr. short and cr. jab, and exactly where the jumping attack will hit.

Nice step forward from Vanilla, Capcom…

Mouse lag, seriously.

press start, then press stop and hold the button down. Release it when you see the color change, will shave almost a tenth of a second off of your reaction time.

This was the problem I had with low kongo and why its the least used kongo in my arsenal.
Either way, kongo is completely fucked now. I pretty much never use it besides EX.

It’s nice. Gouken’s especially nice with a hitbox.

Here’s a better one that gives you an average over 5 presses, but your negative edge strategy didn’t work for me here. I averaged around .24

.226

Nice. I just tried again and got exactly the same as you. I wanted to do better just to see what the automated comment was instead of “that’s pretty good”…but oh well.

Now what this means to me is that we can react, at the very best, to a 13-14 frame action. Add in extra motions like a quarter circle and I’m sure this number shoots up, even with stealth buffering. Even the super-humans here can’t be that much better. That gives me confidence to throw out some more pokes. The problem is though that it is much easier to react to our recovery frames because it becomes obvious, especially when there is a simple, fast, invincible move like a shoryuken at the ready for a punish. I must study frame data.

I managed to get one really early.

The past few weeks I have been free. Losing so many matches with Gouken. Most because of dropping link’s from St. Cl MP.

Yeah that sucks, but that’s online for ya.

I did this on an LCD with 60hz refresh rate, I get around 0.240 final average score on my best attempt after 10 tries (my best click over all are like 0.210)

I than runs it on a CRT with 75 hz and my score go down to 0.197 average on my best attempt after just 2 tries. (My best click was 0.153!)

I imagine how fast your CPU, your video card, your monitor, and even your mouse button will all effect the score slightly. So I don’t think we can use this score to compare who is faster

Has anyone ever fought Kil-5_Man on the PSN?
He plays Chun-Li, he keeps joining my lobby in Ranked, and i’d say i win 2/10.
(Must have fought him over 100 times in the last month)

The rest of the time i just can’t win! It seems i have to put so much effort in to stay alive and all Chun has to do is sweep, Hazanshu, grab.
If i focus attack and hit her(No Crumple) and dash forward she can jab jab sweep me before i can even jump!

I think he uses a Turbo Controller/Stick(?) from his inputs (Everything he presses gets pressed 2 or 3 times instantly)
Which would explain why he’s so damn frame perfect with everything!
Seems unfair to me.

Screw Air Grabs i can’t even get a damn j.mp on an anticipated jump when i’m right!
Also Screw that wakeup EX Spinning Bird, i took your advice on doing a late Dive Kick, but then she just starts to jump instant air grab.
And even if she doesnt air grab and i DO manage to stuff her EX SBird, it counts as being in the air so she just rolls and lands safely next to me face to face.
And with her normals and his frame perfection its a pain in the fudge’in ass.

It’s BullFudge!

Stop dashing forward when you release level one (before the flash) focus attack. You can only crumple her if it is level 2, or if it is a counter hit. Chun Li is fairly difficult to counter hit crumple due to the fast recovery on her normals.

Most tournament disallow those I think… not sure… but this is just something you have to deal with, and it is not without con, try bait parry more if he is button pressing prone. Not on wake up of course.

use j.lk instead. j.mp come out very fast, but hit box does not cover throw zone.

your Dive kick is too late. Hit training room and work on your timing. There is a way late dive kick will beat both reversal EX spinning bird and jump up grab.

Time to do mix up, it is pretty hard to react, but try commit to just two option like c.lk -> palm or jump back hk so you can make her guess. If she do reversal, your palm won’t come out and jump back hk will just whiff, if she try grab, both options hit her, force her to just block, then start throwing / parrying to make her guess crouch tech or not.

vs chun use fb to make her jump over then meet her mid air w j.lp.
She is free on wake also and her ex bird can be stuffed no prob by well timed normal jump ins and of course dive kicks

Can’t use fireballs if she has her Ultra. If she Focus absorbs them she’ll get it shortly.
Free on wakeup!?

Someone on PSN fight this guy and show me please!

Edit: Has anyone got any recording software or anything, i wish to post up some matches of mine with her.

Her reversal is slow enough that you should be looking to safe jump it not knock her out of it.

6 frame start up, -18 on block aka you can Ultra it on block.

Does that also mean a free EX palm as well even with the pushback?
