I noticed one other thing, you blew up my safe jump attempts with Kongo, I don’t know if that’s because I was too slow on the safe jump dive kick. Can you stop safe jumps with Kongo?
Short answer: Yes Kongo doesn’t care about safe jumps.
Slightly in depth(but possible minor errors) answer: To understand this you need to understand safe jumps a little. When you jump and press a move you receive 4 landings frames that you need to wait when landing before you can block. With a safejump you attempt to jump in and have a jumpin that is active on an opponents first frame after getting up. If they block its all good as you get blockstun and continue from that. If they do an invincible move that means you are going to go straight into your 4 landing frames. Any move faster than those frames(like ryu srk which is 3) can not be safejumped as you will still be in your jump recovery. Kongo goes active on it’s first frame, so if you ever do anything that can cause an opponent to block they can substitute it with a kongo.
There are ways to safejump 3frame moves though and that is by using spacing, safe jumping at a distance that cause the first few active frames to whiff allowing you to complete your landing before their active frames reach you.
Okay, that was my understanding of safe jumping as well. It’s nice to know that my assumption of being able to use Kongo wasn’t off. The safe jumps for Gouken as far as I know are from sweep, MK.demon flip + dive kick, Nj. FP, and Nj. MK. The timing is somewhat character dependent as certain characters wakeup times are different.
EX palm reset is simply c.mp xx mk flip, you can do hk flip to bypass srks
For some reason, I prefer lk flip after sweep.
Guess it depends on spacing and how deep you were when the sweep connected.
Just combed through a ton of AE2012 footage and not a single gouken match, smh.

How do you tech against this character? I’m sorry but I have been under the impression that if I do nothing but mash throw then I will either throw or tech am I rite? I want to avoid this monster-characters throw but I can never for the life of me tech against Gouken even when I know they are doing nothing else but mashing throw.
I was playing gouken when the game first came out and the bison fight is controlled using goukens focus attack against bison standing roundhouse. Lv2 quick relase= free hit everytime.

Forward throw is 3 frames, back throw is 5.

It does, especially if you are crouch teching. The throw that “kills” you is backthrow. If you try to crouch tech like a 3 frame throw you will get thrown out of the startup of your cr.tech.
