It’s been brought up. A long time ago. The FADC tatsu to Ultra is in the trials…
EX palm fadc to Ultra is almost a BnB lol. You can do it without the FADC, just requires tight timing.
Also, unless you are playing SSF4 and you know something we don’t, you can jab your way to a hit confirm anything with Gouken. Gouken can’t hit confirm outside of s.c.mp - c.mk/c.lp xx
It’s pretty much the timing of the attack after a back throw, so it’s just something you have to practice on, I usually jump for the j. mp when I see them dropping from the screen. I can get it about 85% of the time.
If you can happen to land it, it opens up a few more options for you. For example you can AA and depending on if it hits and when it hits…
-j. mp 1 hit>
-cr. round house for hard knock down > safe jump b.s.
-tatsu (EX Tatsu works best)
-palm
-Ultra/ Super (Full Ultra)
-any other normal for a reset
-cr. fp > df mix ups
-hadoken > cr. roundhouse
-hadoken > any other normaly for reset
-hadoken > tatsu
-hadoken > palm
-hadoken > super or ultra if in corner
2 hit j. mp >
-j. mp
-Ultra/Super (multi hit)
-EX Tastu (The first hit will whiff, but you have to land pretty early and right underneath them to make this happen.
There is a bunch of creative stuff you can do with the above, pending on how many EX bars you have and what the damage scaling is looking like. Doing another long combo with Gouken is pretty much a waste of meter if you’ve dizzied them during a huge combo so it’s more practical to go with a reset or IMO an option for a hard knock down.
On another note, has anyone used EX Palm > air tatsu?
Why wouldn’t you… Backthrow > HK Tatsu FADC > Cr. roundhouse (hard knockdown) > DF mix up / cross instead? Do you use this primarily to keep the momentum going and how are you avoiding being punished after the cr. lk > mk demon flip?
I haven’t been on the SF4 threads in a LONG LONG time, so I don’t know if I accidentally stumbled on something new or if someone already found this, please tell me if this is old:
I prefer to do a good ol j.hp>s.hp>>ex palmstrike thing>>fadc>>Shin Shoryuken/ Tatsu or palmstrike. 644 dmg i believe with the Ultra at the end. It’s just my favorite. Im just picking up gouken now. Trying to learn the ways of the power of nothingness.
Does any one else use hado xx fadc cr.hp xx ex palm in the corner? Been using it lately and its been destroying people in the corner tons of damage and stun. Almost instant stun if ya manage to score a nice reset too.
Seems like an impractical use of 3 bar to me, but Gouken gets Meter easily, so it’s not THAT big of a deal. You should just combo into the Hado, then sweep > mixups/shenanigans IMO.
It’s useful, but in very limited situations. Not unless you know if your fp is going to land or if you are great at hit confirming your cr. FP and you are great at transitioning to a grab or a df mix up if the cr. fp is blocked I wouldn’t mess with it too much. It looks cool though… you have about the same chance of landing that as, just going for stand alone ex palm for the auto launch > whatever the hell you want and you still would have 2 EX Bars.
This tactic also works for to initiate grabs, cross ups, and quick frame trap grabs with Demon Flip b/c they will still be blocking the fireball when you try it. There are ways around this too though. You could work a strategy around it even though I think you could use the 2 EX bars more efficiently.
IMO, in the corner it’s just best to take the EX Palm whenever you can get it > How Ever Many Fireballs you can do > Cr. roundhouse for hard reset or a another normal for a soft reset > Mix up again. It gives you a few more options and you can retain your 2 EX bars just incase you want to rezone, re-combo, reverse, or if you get knocked down.
I can see the use in it, if you are playing rushdown and you don’t wanna lose momentum though,… the risk is very high with this, but the reward is also very high.
