Gouken Combos and Glitches

Hey guys ^^ i just got a quick question …
I dont know if it is my execution or something else but why does:

cr.lp, cr.lp, cr.lp, st.lk, cr.lk -> HK Hurricance not combo?

or better, why doesnt the HK hurricane never come out if i try?

I have the feeling it’s like when i use cr.lk in a combo i cant cancel it no matter what…

Whats wrong? My execution or the game messing around with moves cancel ability? i fear it is the first… xD

The bolded is the bingo.

You can’t cancel chained/rapid fire normals, you can only cancel linked normals into special moves.

Goukens jabs and lks don’t link, they just rapid fire chain.

I posted this in the other section… and realized it should be here.

Not sure if somebody said this or not yet… but against Sagat, Rufus, and Seth if you dizzy and have EX you can full hit EX Hado for …

All Full Charge

EX FB > Ultra
EX FB > lp/mp palm
EX FB > Tatsu (best in corner)
EX FB > EX Tatsu
EX FB > Reset > mix up
EX FB > Sweep > mix up

Corner:
EX FB (full) > EX FB > Ultra/Tatsu/Reset/cr. HK

I’ve been having alot of fun lately getting them dizzied then punishing LOL

yeah, and the only fucking links gouken are st. mp, cr. mk and st. mp, cr. lp, and both suck.

yeah… I rarely use that shit except for block stringing out… cr. lp chains to cr. lk works for me though.

New resets.

EX Palm xx FADC > j.strong > j.strong > cl.short

Last part of this can be switched out for whatever you want, but if you use cl.short then crossover, it’s unpunishable by reversals.

In corner, EX Palm > fierce hado > j.strong > cl.short > crossover j.forward

The crossover is an ambiguous crossup which can hit front or back and is safe from reversals.

In corner, EX Palm > fierce hado, dash under and hold towards > cl.jab

The cl.jab switches sides at the last moment. You can do whatever you want after this, but I reccommend an immediate crossover as it’s safe.

So you’re saying after a j.Strong, you can follow-up with a safe c.LK or c.LP and immediatly jump for a safe cross-over? Does the j.Strong have to be a one or a two-hitter, or it makes no difference?

Two one-hit j.strongs followed by a close short, not crouch. It hits lower to the ground than cr.jab and recovers quicker than cr.short. The crossover looks punishable by reversals, but it’s not. I didn’t try Sagat, but if it’s safe from jab Ryu Shoryu, then it’s safe from jab uppercut as well.

Also carries opponent further towards the corner. It’s not 100% fool proof, but there’s very little risk involved past the executional barrier.

Can we assume it is safe to try this setup after any j.MP or should we try to rely only on the circumstances you’ve listed? Also, damn, two one-hitting j.MP in a row? I can’t even land j.MP into c.Fierce so I think I’ll forget about this one.

It’s not as hard as it sounds. Just think about it as Chun doing Target Combo on the way down into immediate headstomps. Timing is pretty similar.

Only really works if you can land the first j.strong as you are descending, so it can’t be done from backthrow. Although you can just do one and then the short and it’s still safe from reversals.

Basically, the setups (which is from any BnB really) that I’ve listed makes it so the opponent has to guess right otherwise they’re getting stunned. Plain and simple. It’s not like Sakura where she needs two or three wrong guesses from her opponent. If they guess right then you’re still on top of them, no real risk involved except on Gief, but you wouldn’t use this on Gief to be fair.

You can mix it up a little as well, but it’s easy enough to work them out in training mode and matchplay.

I will try these out - if the xover is really safe then this might be useful.

It’s safe against most reversals that I’ve said. It’s not 100%, but it’s main use is that it’s a bit confusing for the other player.

This might not be news to some of you guys, but you can do EX Palm -> Forward Dash -> cr.hp xx mk Demon Flip mid screen. No FADC required. The reset is solid enough that all three of the demon flip options work.

Also, dash ultra is a pain in the ass.

Yeah, thats been discussed somewhere here, but oh boy is it risky vs shotos/sagat. in general im starting to get DP’d more when doing my DF resets. Looks like ima have to do safer DF stuff, cuase people seem to answer with DP more and more these days :lame:

A lot of times I can bait the DP with a hk Demon Flip so they’ll whiff as I go over them and then I land and punish. Doesn’t work if they do a lp DP though.

I’ve been messing around with combos in training and for shits and giggles is it possible, I can’t get it to connect, to ex dp>dash>tatsu xx fadc ultra? It should be able to connect right with gouken being able to juggle with fb’s in the corner into ultra? I know scaling would kill the damage but would be flashy.

It doesn’t work because of weird juggle properties on Gouken’s tatsu and EX Palm. Same reason you can’t do Tatsu FADC tatsu FADC tatsu even though you can do tatsu FADC tatsu.

I see said the blind man, makes no sense given that ryu can juggle his ex tatsu into ex srk fadc that than ultra. Well than atleast it wasn’t my execution its just another stupid gouken quirk with his juggle like the j.mp thing.

rule #1 when playing as gouken, dont worry about what ryu can do.
that will just piss you off.

Yeah, as a gouken user I learned rather fast not to gripe to much bout his flaws but o try and find ways around them. I was just using that as an example.
