Venom = not talked about much because he’s very difficult to use.
Sol is not top tier. High second tier at best.

Duh Beef of Flavor, there are no tiers.
Technically, dark sakura is MvC2 is top tier, because her teleport has no ending frame, making her completely invincible as long as you can do the teleport consistantly.
That means, Venom’s lockdown, if it can be done perfect every time, pre-empting the opponent, is perfect.
HA!
Top tier according to SBO is
2 Eddie
2 Millia
2 Sol
1 Bridget
1 Axl
1 Slayer
1 Faust
1 Dizzy
1 Johnny
now stfu about tiers. HA!

Hmm, so venom is perfect…HMMM…
 Suuuuuure there aren’t.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I love playing with Anji Mito. His design is cool and he has those fans, but he doesn’t deal a lot of damage so that’s his setback. Sol is cool, and I-NO has crazy combos. My opinion, it all depends on how you play. Fuck tiers!
I dunno about any tiers… everytime I look at them it messes me up because I end up trying to play those characters and 99% of the time they just aren’t my style… I do, however, like to use the freaks of the game… I first started out using Zato-1 and Potemkin in the original GG. Then in GGX, I used them along with Axl and Baiken. When GGXX came out all I used was Zappa and my other guys… I tell ya, in all honesty, I feel Zappa is probably the most original character I’ve ever played. He’s quick and decent in strength. But his most valuable asset is his unpredictability. I actually sucked when I started out with him but now being able to adapt to any playing style when a random ghost comes out, I think I am pretty good with him. I also just started using Faust this week and I have no idea for the life of me why I neglected to use him all these years. After playing all those characters I feel that the tiers in this game are irrelevant. I mean I’ve been able to get a good win percentage with each character because each of them are designed and built in a way where they can counter anything that is thrown at them. Some might be more difficult than others but with a decent amount practice it is possible to win with every one of them. That’s what makes this game so great. The fact that, for once, each character is balanced enough to take anyone on.
zappa’s biggest strength is his biggest weakness as well
some may as he’s unpredicable
i say he’s inconsistant
obviously, you want certain ghosts vs certain chars, and you get an especially hard time if you never pick up the 3 Ghosts, who are zappa’s best
i’d rank zappa’s ghosts:
That’s wierd, cause I have won many matches with good players with just the dog… It’s quick and if you can sandwich the enemy with it (something I do all the time) you are pretty much unstoppable. At the same time I’ve played him so much that I am able to adapt with whichever ghost pops up.
i did say the doggy was decent, but really, his other ghosts are just better in my opinion
I guess to each his own… I am in no way implying I am great or anything- I just put players in bodybags with Zappa.
I don’t think tiers really apply to this game. As a Baiken player, I feel that there’s not much you can do against me or my tactics. Likewise anyone can say the same thing about any other character because all characters can deal with all situations.
P.S.
do these forums usually move really slow?
All characters can deal with all situations? Hah. Tell me, how does a character who doesn’t have an invulnerable wake up deal with an Eddie player who just knocked them down? You damn well better have a Burst, or you aren’t getting up again.
Tiers apply to practically every game, that’s just the way it is. Some characters are more advantaged than others, period. I too think that GGXX is pretty well balanced, but there are still some bad matchups here and there.
beef o’ flavor’s hometown is located in uragay
Bumfuck uragay.
I don’t feel their are any tiers.

Damnit Rob, you play in Japan, you’re automatically biased.
Actually all characters can block from wake up and all characters can counter. The counter (Dead Angle attack) eats half tension but tension builds as you block, get hit and connect with attacks. If you don’t have the tension, then build it up.
Eddie’s wake up combo is unblockable, sir.
If you’re counting on Tension just for blocking and being hit, well, by the time you get anywhere near 50%, you’re probably dead. Dead Angle Attacks can also be blocked or whiff. Definitely not 100% reliable.
about Eddies un-blockables. They require Eddie to be “out” right? That means it has to end at some point. There is burst but that’s only once (sometimes twice) per game. Not very reliable but still an option. I’m pretty sure most characters have wake-up moves where they are invincible for a few frames. (ex// Sol=Volcanic Viper)
As for waiting on tension. It actually gathers really quickly when you are blocking a rush or getting hit. Also, a dead angle can take the Eddie(attack bit) out while giving you invincible frames and if you are being rushed, it’ll take a lot of skill and a quick hand to stop and block it.
Actually he’s partially right. When my venom rushdown is blocked…they accumulate large quantites of meter. Of course, not near as much as me, and as long as I’m offensive, I almost always end up getting the hit in and winning, expecially max guardbar. When I play with venom, it seems like they always have burst…which is quite retarded. But obviously, if you have more meter and are doing more damage, you are winning. -_- don’t make it sound like rushing down helps them win.
Alright, what if the person who is fighting Eddie doesn’t HAVE an invincible wakeup? That’s what I said in my first post, read it again. The only characters with a reliable invulnerable wake up are Sol, Ky, Axl, and Bridget. That leaves 16 other characters that don’t have it. If you want a specific example, take Dizzy, who has no wakeup PERIOD and is screwed if she gets knocked down.
Here’s something for you to look at:
knockdown, summon Eddie, do the shark, dash in K (unblockable), link to S, combo to buzzsaw, hit with a Dust, chase jump into Dust, Kick, combo to Shadow Gallery (untechable) set drill bomb w/Eddie before they fall. Jump and double jump to hover and time the j.S with the first hit of the drill bomb (unblockable), combo to Shadow Gallery from the last hit of the drill, Roman Cancel, do Shadow Gallery again. By now, Eddie has recharged and you just summon him again and repeat. If your opponent doesn’t have any wakeup, he is dead.
Like I said, contrary to what you were trying to say, not every character has an answer for every situation.
First of all, you will not get a chance to take Eddie out with a dead angle because it’s UNBLOCKABLE. By definition, DAA is done while you are blocking, so if the first hit is UB, then you can’t DAA it.
Second, even if you could do that, the DAA would only take out Eddie, and leave the main body free to still attack you while you are in recovery (attacks that hit Eddie only affect him and not the main body unless it is a multi-hit attack).
So let’s take all this information in: Dizzy fights Eddie. At some point, she gets knocked down. She has no Burst. She dies. Unless she magically builds up Burst again in the middle of it, she has no way out.
I’ll refrain from going any further into this argument. It can only get worse from here. Just seriously take a look at the game and the characters before spouting off crap like the game has no tiers.
