GGXX top tiers?

doubtful . . . checking all the match vids i got of Test v Eddie, Eddie easily rapes Test

note: these are japanese match vids from march and april

Testament web is quite possibly the single most overrated special move in the game. Any good Eddie can set those things off with normals without getting a scratch on him. All that shit is good for is wakeup games, which doesn’t do Testy any good if he can’t lay a hand on Eddie. Man, scrubs must love Testament, one of the single simplest characters to learn and all his combos are easy and do damage. Too bad the character’s so limited.

Invite Hell > web.

Testament is so fuking scrub friendly… JD all day long and wait till a counter hit!!

Oh well, at least they change him abit in #reload so his game is not ONLY fuking involve around wakeup web… which is very annoying in xx

And to be back on topic… May is top tier for her cuteness:o

Testament is bait for Eddie’s okizeme unblockables

Unblockables > 50/50 mix-ups.

Oh let me rephrase that…

May’s counter 6p IK > Eddie’s unblockable > Slayer’s bite infin > Testy 50/50 > ur mama

And the list goes on and on…

lol

More like Slayer grab inf to IK combo > Eddie unblockable >>> Testy 50/50 > May counter 6P to IK. That May shit is so unlikely.

The May unblockable setup might be good if the 6P didn’t hit late. Tell me there isn’t a split-second there before the 6P connects.

Indeed BoF. Eddie’s going to land 10 unblockables for every CH 6p he eats from May.

People forget that May’s 6p does not have the abundance of invulnarability and speed that characters such as Johnny, Eddie, and Bridget carry with their 6ps. It’s an overrated move for May, which is saying something considering it is May.

ryucross: Yeah. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve stuffed May’s 6p with a jump-in…and the resulting number of times my May playing friend yelled almost threw the controller

lol…
Yah i just put may in the front cuz basicly thats the only BS she got!! And i just feels sorry for her and praise her up there…

But seriously, Eddie’s unblockable has so much setup that make him the top tier with style!! No question ask

not quite, may’s 6P has 18 frames of upper body invulnerability
johnny’s has 18 as well (but its alot quicker)
bridget’s has 14
eddie’s has 16

its just that may’s has WAY TOO MUCH START UP
though its still fun to 6P through fireballs

I just got this game a few days ago and I am getting customed to the engine… it’s a very fun game. I was just wondering where does I-No stand. She seems like a contender to say the least. Her style reminds me of a weird Morrigan/Rogue type of gameplay.

Anyways, I want to know how the hell do you jump cancel? And how can you add it to a combo? Oh and I’m curious to know why Johnny is top-tier. When I started to use him, he just seemed kinda slow like Potemkin but with a dash/airdash. Oh and is it possible to get more coins in battle or are those the only ones that you will have for that round?

I-no is second tier. She’s pretty good IMO, high damage combos, nice mixups and wakeup games. Problem is that I’ve never seen a really good I-no player in person, so I can’t give out lots of tips or anything.

Jump-cancelling: Simply press up or any other jump command when a JCable move connects with your opponent. This can be used in combos that juggle your opponent in the air, allowing you to extend them by jumping and continuing to attack them.

Johnny’s not top tier: he’s second tier, like I-no. The reason he’s so good is because of his excellent zoning and pressure ability. It’s sort of hard to explain in words, you have to see it in action. Most of his normals have really excellent priority and he has a lot of high damage combos, plus tons of mindgames. He’s pretty versatile. And yes, you start with 8 coins and that’s it (if he could recover them, that would be pretty freakin’ broken, IMO).

Johnny is a rushdown machine. What scares me the most is not the 60% unblockable setups but his mist cancel pokes which really leads to those 60% unblockable setups. Good thing only the right people can use Johhny right mist cancelling is similar to Sent’s flight cancelling rushdowns whatever it’s called. And finally that’s all the coins he has in his pocket for every round which is a good thing for everybody’s sake.

I-no would be right next to Sol if you ask me. Her damage is insane and landing them ain’t problematic at all if you get used to her.

Jump cancel? Well maybe you’re using the wrong basic moves to jump cancel from. Johnny’s jump cancellable moves are [f+P] and… I forget.

…jump canceling with johnny can be done with every button except his slash. not sure if you were referring to ino about these cancels but for johnny these moves can be used to be the initial moves of the combo [ie - forward hard slash(being the move that can be cancelled), air hyper ensenga, cancel, dash, short, jab, then so on].

  • ::wonders who to0k ggxx at evo, checking top-h8rs:: game 0n all!

Whaa? You can’t jump-cancel with fHS, cHS, fS, sS, fS, cS, etc. You we’re right about his f+HS. So I guess sP, f+P, & f+HS are his only jumpcancellable moves.

in the midst of the EVO conclusion, Sol has been moved to top tier, that is all

(unless you have a better explanation as to why 5 of the 8 finalists used Sol)

LOL. Sol is too good.

Zazz, you’re not helping… :bluu:

you just explained exactly WHY Johnny IS top tier. except for the coin thing (you dont really need more than 8 coins to win a round… i dont know how YOU play, but dont abuse the coins, and you wont get abused). you also forgot he has an excelent wake up game with his divine blade transport, ensenga, and coins… coins have hella high priority, and can stop any character from doing a wake up special, which i find is VERY useful. johnny IS top tier, and a good Johnny player can prove it. Sol on the other hand ISNT top tier… he does not have any pressure ability other than his FRCed gun flame, but that can only be done like what, 3 times most of the time unless the guy bursted… his bandit revolver is too slow, and easy to block, he has alot of useless moves like the stomp attack… although it could be VERY usefull to a great player… i doubt any good player ever uses it correctly. (i dont use Sol, so if im saying anything wrong, kill me). his power dunk move is just USELESS… TOO SLOW, TOO counterable. his only useful moves are his gunflame, his shoryuken type thing, and his ground viper + his super because of its priority,… his dust loop does alot of damage, but no other combo does even close to as much, so he has NO flexability… all sols are the same, set him up for a dust loop… great…

im sorry, but bottom line is sol is NOT Godly Tier… just because 5 finalists played as sol doesnt mean crap… maybe all the other players sucked with thier characters? dont you think that?.. a Good Johnny player could bondage up any Sol and punish them HARD like Johnny does to Dizzy! =]
