On the contrary… though Sol is/was BoF’s main, I’ve seen him criticize the character just as much as he’s praised him.
Either way, the characters that I’ve had give me the most problems rushing is Axl, Faust, and Johnny due to the range of their normals.
Characters like Slayer, Anji-Mito, Baiken, Potemkin, and so on gave me Hell for a little while until I learned how to work around their countering to Sol’s rush. In terms of Slayer, zoning hurts him horribly. Anji’s autoguard can be baited out. Especially if you abuse GF. Potemkin’s Hammerfall through a GF can be countered with K since it hits twice, and he’s already absorbed one hit from the GF. You landed a K. Do you know where your corner is?
I’m currently working on my Dizzy, Eddie, I-No, and Zappa. I can’t get over how affective each of the characters in GGXX can be.

Anyways, as I was saying. Sol does half life with a Dust Loop. Dizzy does half life with Ice Spike FRC combos. I-No does half life with Chemical Love FRC combos. Where they can hit these anywhere on screen, Sol also has to sacrifice meter to get you in the corner if he’s not close enough to immediately knock you in it. Why people cry about Sol I’ll never know. If he’s got so many flaws and is so overrated, then we wouldn’t hear anybody whine about his DLoops.
It’ll probably end up like Cable though. I know locals around here bitched nonstop about AHVBs. Once all the scrubs were weeded out, then you never heard complaints again. Only discussions of ways to deal/get around it.
Hey BOF does vaporthrust still play ggxx? I haven’t been on the forum to much in a good while and gamecombos seems to have dried up unfortunately. Anywayz I need a chance to come up and play the carolina comp, I’ve improved 2000% since final round, as has colin, we want to see where other people are heading into evolution, which I have already bought my ticket for. I still toy with dizzy quite a bit, but have settled on faust as my second, and millia as my “business” character. I am surprised to see that apparently she is not played extensively by anyone who ever posts save gandido, the bitch has ridiculous rushdown and combo ability. She fits my gameplay style as well, all rushdown all the time.
When I sit back and analyze why she isn’t played so heavily despite her high teir status it reminds me somewhat of strider though, she is quite control intensive compared to some of the other characters and she is fragile. I tend to lose heavily to my brother who plays axle, yet I find that I’m winning far more often when I drop my mvc2 mindset and realize that yes, wake up super will hit you and do half life bars if you just blindly pile on wake-up moves. That said sometime between now and august will there be a tourney up your ways, I think I could scrape up someone else to make the trip with me and get in a good solid 6 or so hours against some other comp, I haven’t played against some of the cast handled by someone who knows how to exploit there strengths and the last thing I want is to lose to an inferior player at evl because I’m not familiar with the parlor tricks of a jonny, potemkin, or even a good eddy. Colin is playing venom and testament, and those two I’m fairly solid on, other than blocking testaments stupid overhead which for some unknown reason appears to be NOT hitting overhead.
Anyway I BADLY want to see slayer played right, I just don’t picture him beating out faust or millia, but I haven’t experienced the invicibility tricks yet, so I can’t comment on how that alters gameplay. Too bad the game isn’t that big where I live, Marvel >>>>>> all else in bama.
Well, I’ll see what I can do about getting a tourney organized around here sometime. It would be great to see some more players around. VaporThrust (aka IceNinja) still plays and can still give a run with his Ky. People around here are improving steadily, it’ll just take some more play and more players.
Good deal, he put in a nice showing at FR with ky, I was wondering if gameplay advance and experience had made ky obsolete, but the good thing about GGXX is that you can play anyone at a pretty competitive level if you understand your character. I guess it doesn’t even have to be a tourney to be worth a trip, if I can get somewhere where there are even 3 or 4 other solid players playing a variety of characters it will help immensly. I think the main thing holding down the skill level of players in my region is exposure to different playing styles. To help solve that I’m trying to get in some gaming with everyone I can find who plays the game and knows what they’re doing.
Shaun’s a good player overall, so he can exploit people with Ky despite the character’s shortcomings.
We’ve actually got a decent variety of players in the area. We’ve got Shaun’s brother Wayne, a Testament player. Then there’s Charles who plays Bridget, and Dale (CursedOne, our residential Faust player). Ryucross used to play Eddie a lot, haven’t seen him in a while. I’ve got Sol and Axl covered, as well as some other characters. Just drop by when you feel up to it and we can get some quality play going.
If you guys could make a 4 or 5 hour drive (about 2.5 to 3 hours from Winston-Salem) you guys can come to the Blacksburg tourney

No, top tier is Slayer, Millia, Faust and Eddie. Johnny and Sol are still very good though.
Yeah yeah yeah, anyone can win if played right, blah blah blah. Characters still have advantages over others. That’s what a tier list is; who has the best advantages.

1 Sol Badguy is the best character on the game! He has simple combos for the beginners and more complex for the advanced. His moves are easy to master and he has awesome Overdrives. He is your best bet.
2Chipp is also a good character, he is the fastest character in the game, but he has a low defence, so don’t get hit.
