why is it so hard to FRC Baiken’s j.623S?
never gotten it once in my life, and I’m FRCing j.D’s whenever I want.
its not that hard if you’re just trying to do it.
just… as soon as you press slash, press whatever 3 button combination you do to frc. like blamblam no gap. its not super useful anyway imo…i saw maruken use it ONCE, and i never see sharon do it.
The FRC is on frames 3-4 of the start up, so you need to do it really fast kind of like Jam’s 2D FRC or Robo-Ky’s 5H FRC.
It does good damage in short combos (no more then 3 hits into the combo)
so I was hoping I could extend the combo for another 2-3 hits for a little more damage.
I’ll keep tryin.
I know it’s not that useful, but It’s something I wanna be able to do as a Baiken player.
EDIT: With any char I play I try to learn all available FRC’s.
Never played a Guilty Gear, but i love 2d fighting, and it looks awesome, albeit a little intimidating…
Might have to pick this one up
I’m having some luck using the following technique to hit the YZN FRC:
Hit S with middle finger
Raise middle finger back to starting position
Hit P w/thumb, K w/index and HS w/ring as middle finger returns to starting position
The 2nd step helps keep me from hitting the buttons before the FRC window.
I have an easier time doing the TK YZN FRC than the j.YZN FRC, but I have a bitch of a time comboing j.S or j.HS into YZN FRC.
EDIT: clarification
i just do s with middle finger…then pks quickly.
it is realllllly not worth it to learn. you get like one set-up from it, if that. nearly impossible to bust out in a real match.
Is there a Japanese and American/Canadian player list?
Hellmonkey did RazorCrane FRC, Burst Grab on their wakeup. Possibly the sexiest shit I have ever seen. But yes, valid point.
stormlocke, ive been reading your guide on robo ky…good stuff.
i seem some robo players use the gen ky special super, but others don’t, like dogura. you obviously are very for it, is it just preference whether or not to use it?
also do you play a predominantly defensive game until you get meter? seems like a lot of robo ky players just chill and ib untill they get a gold burst or hit a robo dash.
Thanks.
It’s entirely up to the person playing Robo. In all honesty I started using it as a joke back in the #R days when I was playing on Xbox Live. The general strategy was activate, then lag for 9 seconds, and try to explode somewhere near them. Couldn’t do much else because the netcode was ass. But then, I started seeing certain circumstances when it was useful and made it the core of my gameplay offline.
You’re right Dogura rarely uses it. If he does it’s how most ‘normal’ Robo players use it: If either you or your opponent are about to die, you activate it and then use the tension gain to spam missiles till one of you croaks. Nezu, another Japanese player though, uses it quite frequently and even did back in Slash.
Finally, yes, Robo’s Instant Block tension gain of 0.8 is just too good to pass up. It’s perfectly normal and effective to just turtle up till you get some tension. Knowing when to Gold Burst is also very helpful. (Potemkin’s J.d, Sol’s Bandit Bringer, etc.)
Link plz?

randomly came in here
the FRC isn’t worth learning for serious matches, but it can be used for gimicky fun. You want to FRC immediately after youzansening- i hit S and immediately KSHS. tk youzansen FRC j.K is an OK overhead, but for it’s difficulty, and speed it’s not really worth it at all. What you can do though is do a running youzansen FRC while they are waking up and get a crossup j.K. Not TOO hard once you get used to it, but really not worth it, especially since if you miss it they usually get a free combo because the recovery of youzansen is awful. I’ve seen Maruken use it to mixup with a low j.P, because normally they would block low afterwards but the FRC pops her up for a j.HS or j.K, but you might as well mix up with a low j.K -> j.D or 2K instead. There are a few nonrealistic combos where it allows you do get more damage in, mostly in the corner, but definitely not practical at all. Also, when doing the FRC you need to hold down K and S for a few frames or it will negative edge and you will get another youzansen or a tatami mat.
sadly that wasn’t recorded
dont listen to hellmonkey
he turtles too much!!!
Definitely not enough O
baiken should wear a turtle shell in the next guilty gear.
hey, what does Pot do vs baiken? I have a hard time understanding that match up. Seems like she can run in when ever she wants, not just that she always has priority over all my moves…so what am I looking for opening wise? I usually just look for ground smash off jumps, but vs her I eat j.fp into mixup hell.
HELL!!!
Teenage Mutant Baikken Turtle…Teenage Mutant Baiiikkennn Turrrtle!!!
I was thinkin more like master roshi style lawl
