GGXX:Accent Core Thread! [AMERICAN PS2 RELEASE, GO GO GO!]

I Lol’d

Backdash -> PotBuster. All you need is one PotBuster (and 25% Tension) and the round is literally yours.

Slideheads are fine too

Man, I got this weird feeling to pick up Millia now. I don’t why. At this rate I might never get back to Johnny or get good with Venom. I think it’s time I drop Sol. I went about 20 matches against the local Eddie and I can’t cut with Sol. Mixup game is lacking. I didn’t even win 1 match. However I did win 13 with Order-Sol, THE MAN IS A BEAST! 10 match winning streak. Unblockables can’t stop HOS! Lol at killing lil Eddie with fafnir…

Millia sucks, don’t pick her up.

Seriously, she takes damage like a complete bitch and you apparently have to learn character specific (air) combos for everyone. Considering how much you bitched about Order Sol a month ago, starting over with her is going to twice as bad.

Just stick with Venom.

In the meanwhile, I think that I’ve decided to make Faust my main.

I still don’t understand what the hell his coin item is for, though.

Coin allows you to do the old just frame fire hand slap from the pull without the just frame. Increases tech time for that move. Very unfortunent for us who could consitently do the just frame in Slash :frowning:

You’re kidding? She’s hard to play but she is definitely one of the better characters. She has some of sickest okizeme in the game as well as crazy mix-ups, pokes etc. If she gets you in the corner, you might as well be dead.

Yeah I was kidding actually, and the game is over when she puts the opponent in the corner. My friend usually has to dp/burst/daa when I get him in the corner, but dp is sort of too dangerous for him.

I’m assuming that it’s just as it is for Johnny in that it only acts for the next Scalpel Pull, whether you hit or not, since it seems like it never works for me.

And what exactly is the “just frame” supposed to be? I mean that question along the lines of “when” it’s supposed to be more than “what”, I suppose.

And as for Millia, I figured that Kurumaster was kidding considering his new avatar; I, however, wasn’t, but that’s because I tend to shy away from character take more damage than normal, especially that much. And, really, the corner thing can be applied to like any character in alomst any fighting game.

just frame means you have to hit it on just that frame

aka its a 1f timing move, you have to hit the p during the right time of the combo!

So basically it’s harder than a FRC…

How the hell can you do that “fairly consistently”?

And since we’re on the subject of Faust, is there any type of statistic table for how likely his items are?

If I had to create the list, then I would go from my experience showing me that the most likely is the Doughnut and the least likely, for some reason, is the Coin. I think that I have a pretty good grasp of a full list from most likely to least likely:

Doughnut --> Warai (surprisingly) --> Chocolate --> Time Bomb --> Mini Faust --> Poison --> Hammer (surprisingly) --> Mini Robo Ky --> Meteor --> Mini Potemkin --> Coin.

Anyone (read: Zinac) have different experiences?

practice

JFs usually aren’t actually that strict. You almost never see a JF with an execution window of one frame anymore. They’re definitely still hard, though.

I believe there is a potential chart for each item. It may have been for slash though. Do expect to get donuts more than anything, thus don’t throw items when your opponent is within range to punish your items throws.

Oh, I usually don’t unless I end trying to throw an item when I can’t, i.e. there’s a piece of food on screen that I can’t see or I didn’t see that I threw out a meteor.

Then, in that case, I might get raped because I end up using 6P like a freaking moron.

Otherwise, I usually have a bad habit of doing up close in the corner, where it usually overshoots them and goes off the screen, meaning I can’t see what it is (and I can’t retrieve it if it’s food).

I tend to screw myself over with Time Bombs as well, which is actually the main reason why I was asking since those damage things hurt. I’m they take more 1/6 of your health if you get hit doing something.

Other than that, I’ve mostly just been focusing on using the pogo really effectively since it’s fun and quite useful and I still can’t FDC worth crap, especially since I use a pad.

No, dude, you don’t get it. Getting knocked down by Millia in the corner and being forced to block Secret Garden or FB disc is like boarding a rocket headed straight for the sun. Every character is most effective in the corner but not to the extent that Millia is. I would rather try to block two Eddies at the same time.

I Lol’d

Eh, blocking Millia isn’t that bad. But then again, I’m used to getting fucked up by MvC2 Mag/Psy mixups, not to mention I’ve been playing Millia (and have experience against other high-level Millias) for a long time, so in comparison, this is cake. If anything, I consider blocking I-no a much harder challenge. If you want a more accurate analogy, blocking Millia is like riding a car that’s headed straight off a cliff with faulty brakes and the only choice you have is to pray the brakes work.

Yeah, I was exaggerating. Millia was my only competition for like three years so I’m well aware that it’s completely doable. But any mixup looks shitty if you compare it to MSP. I don’t think there are any other characters with as confusing a high/low/throw game as her though, which is why I had to pick on that “every character is good in the corner” malarky.

I don’t think I-no is very good at dealing with FD and then GTFO, she’s harder to block than most GG players seem to realize though (since conventional thinking, which is way stupid, is “just block high by default then block low when she lands…” which is about as helpful as “overheads hit high, so don’t block them low” :P) so I see where you’re coming from. I don’t think you really see her mixups setting up repeated mixups on block though the same way Eddie/Millia do though.
