GGXX:Accent Core Thread! [AMERICAN PS2 RELEASE, GO GO GO!]

…I thought you were black?

We might have played each other then, but I haven’t been to SFSU in almost a month now, so probably not…

I already knew that you used Anji since you seemed so infautated with him. The Dizzy thing is news.

If you go with Millia, which you should, you’ll end up having to learn a lot of character-specific combos while still worrying about taking damage like a bitch–she takes the 3rd or 4th worst in the game.

You could always go the easy route with Slayer…like everyone else in America.

You will stay away from Zappa, though. He’s mine. [/S-ko]

lol wtf:rofl:

i havent been to SFSU in awhile also, so i havent played you yet.

how to learn slayer in AC.

6K hits.

  • close slash
    • pilebunker
  • 2K
    • 2HS
      • BBU

6K is blocked. You have ALOT of options here. 6K is your advantage. I suggest going low.

  • 2K (if you hit, 2HS -> BBU)
  • 6K (if you hit, close slash -> pilebunker, or 2K -> 2HS -> BBU)
  • bite -> BBU, or bite -> 2K -> 2D if you think they can mash.
  • 2S -> high or low. high = 6K, low = 2D. You can RC the 2D for huge damage options from s.HS.

lets say you do 6K -> close slash -> pilebunker. If you do a K mappa after, and they flinch forward and you score a counterhit, combo into DoT super! BAM SUPER KOOGY STRAT.

drunk as shit so yes. slayer is easy!

If you don’t have meter to RC the 2D, wouldn’t 2HS be a better low option off of 2S since it’s safe on block and you only need 25% to follow it up?

Unfortunately, unless the 2S is a meaty, you cannot combo 2HS from 2S as far as I’m aware. I may be incorrect, however. still drunk XD

It’s not a matter of comboing, I’m just talking about if the 2S is blocked and you are working the high/low mixup after it. If 2S hits, you always go for the 2D afterwards.

Damn you all, Slayer is nothing but pure skills. He also doesn’t seem that popular where I live. Potemkin, Baiken, Testament and even Dizzy and some others seem more common, so it could be worse. Maybe I should stop being a whiny bitch about nothing especially since he’s more used in other places than here.

In combo videos, what are the rules on dummy settings? When I practice stuff in training mode I have air recovery set to “back,” but I can’t replicate any of the nice combos from the vids. The dummy always techs before I can hit them. Is it just my crap timing?

It’s your crap timing. Or there is some trick to it.

Dummy Recovery set to, either, Back or Front
Recovery Frame set to 0
Slip Recovery varies. Lvl2 is about what most people can shake at. Lvl3 is the upper limit. MAX is impossible for a human to shake (or is it?)

Some combos might require the first hit to be a counter hit. Or for the dummy to be crouching. Or need their Guard Level set to something.

If you ever see someone combo in to an air-throw, what is actually happening is that they are being thrown the moment (or near moment) they air recover.

GaijinBlaze:

Also don’t forget most of his combos are char-specific so what you see in combo vids may only work on certain weight characters. You gotta learn a variation of his loops for each weight class. His links are also much easier to time if you start your combo when they are crouching, and some combos may only work when they are crouching.

Although its better to spend time learning the main BnB and how to set them up in real matches rather than spending time learning fancy combos from combo vids. Learn especially how to start a BnB from any random hit you get from any situation, Slayer’s abare potential is the best.

Did Roby-Ky’s command grab always give back a little health along with tension? Or is the boost so slight its not worth mentioning.

What’s up with that thing about blacks always playin Chipp or Sol?

I started out with Chipp and my friend played Sol back in the #R days, and we’re both black…

That’s kinda scary…

Well… you do live in Oakland. It’s probably safe to assume you may be black.

It’s a long running joke in the community since the XX days. If you were black, you started off playing Chipp or Sol for some reason. For most part it seems to be true. It’s like 9/10 black guys that start to play GG play Chipp or Sol first.

The best part of the joke is when newcomers come into the community and somehow get offended by this long running inside joke.

I dont think it gives any health

 this is still happening??? I remember this happening like… 2-3 years ago, someone was like “What’s up with Black people using Chipp?” I laughed, but I was really confused by that. I’m the 1/10 that didn’t use Chipp or Sol as their first. I can’t believe that joke is still going, wow!

I heard if your white dude who plays GG, your first character usually was bridget…

I said it

naw man, whities love ky

you’re thinking of people that love (or wish they were) little boys…

Well we were probably attracted to them at first because they looked the most badass at the character select screen.

But I am more attracted to the slick/showoff type of char, that’s why I went towards Anji/Johnny/Slayer.

When I’ll get ^C I’ll probably play Anji or Johnny. They’re the coolest in the cast IMO.

Ouch. I didn’t know you thought I was that dumb. Thanks but I know about added crouching hitstun and the like. Whenever I try to imitate a fancy combo I always pick the right dummy character and set it up the exact way so those things aren’t a factor. It’s just the teching I don’t get it. Now that I think of it, a lot of stuff in my favourite video (the Dead on Time one) look pretty suspect. When I try a few things out next time I’ll see if I can give a specific example. Bah, maybe it is just my timing like 4r5 said. As long as the guard meter doesn’t affect combo physics I’m not concerned about it.

All this and I haven’t really played anybody yet. Excluding Fil I haven’t played a single good player for more than one random match. I guess I was hoping (by some miracle of God) to become a match vid-watching combo machine and beat people without having to play casuals. Basically I’d become one of the very same people I make fun of.

Wait I mean

My mistake I was playing survival mode when it happened. Not noticing everytime you gain a level you get a little health back. Since his grab does 14 hits at max I assumed it was because of it.

Niggas just love Chipp and Sol, they can’t help it. Strangely enough though, my first character I used in Isuka (my first GG game since GG on PSX but it’s basically an abomination from hell compared to any of the XX revisions) was Johnny (back then, he looked the coolest to me). The first character I decided to have as my main was Chipp though. I still don’t know why a borderline albino ninja is so appealing to us.

My friend was recently saying some shit about how me and my other friend “picked characters in the draft” while he wasn’t there back when we started playing Isuka and XX. He’s saying that he wanted Chipp because “he’s raw” (he’s right but that’s the only reason he had though). He said he was going to literally fight me for him :wtf::confused:, even though I said I didn’t care what he picked.
