GGXX:Accent Core Thread! [AMERICAN PS2 RELEASE, GO GO GO!]

Lol, you’re hilarious. So you’ve never seen a Slayer do 5k>DoT? Ah whatever.

Smart Slayers play like that. Sad to say, though, the vast majority of Slayers would much rather IAD xx Die.

im not talking about just 5k dot.

yall can say what you want about the matchup, 90% of the jap matches i watch potemkin owns slayer.

because the matches you watch are the only matches happening in Japan or the entire world

The matchup is a weird one. Potemkin’s strengths cancel out what most Slayers love to abuse, but Slayer can fight entirely differently and succeed. It’s a case where Slayer’s most obvious strengths just don’t pan out against Potemkin’s most obvious strengths, but once you get into the nitty gritty specifics, it’s all mind games. Just so happens that the top Potemkins have been the top Potemkins for a while- experience, big name fear factor, just being plain good enough to stay on top for so long; all that plays a part. By contrast, all of the old top Slayers went to other characters or other games (kubo comes to mind), or you never see vids of them (Niga and Hase come to mind).
Short version- it’s way easier to find videos of good Potemkins than it is to find vids of good Slayers.

Which isn’t to say Slayer rapes Potemkin or anything… but it certainly isn’t as lopsided as you make it sound.

i still agree that the matchup is horrible for slayer but it cant be as bad as it was in slash

austin is slayer capitol of the world

pretty much, everybody who lives in Austin plays Slayer and everybody who plays Slayer lives in Austin

Random 5K poke into DOT doesn’t really happen. In fact, I can’t really recall ever seeing a random 5K poke into DOT. IMO, it’s not worth the damage it gives unless you can FRC DOT since anything into DOT will not result in a knockdown.

Unless I read the posts wrong, it was like CD was arguing that Slayer is just a big of threat mid-range (5K distance) than close range. Frankly, I think that’s a load of bollocks. Slayer’s options mid-range are very limited, and from a blocked 5K he doesn’t really have much he can follow up with that should be of any threat to you. Random 5K isn’t really that threatning as you’re playing it out to be. To say Slayer is just threatning mid-range as he is close range isn’t really accurate at all.

why dont u travel with john and latifffffff?

Is slide head Oral sex during slayer 2D/?

Maybe!

Also I’ve got some new, real combos now. :woot:

Also! Teach me some potemkin next time you come down

Ya Ill make it fri. My Pot is pretty basic, but sometimes I can invoke FAB.

Unlike John and Latif, I need to go to my classes ;(

=[ that sucks

I strongly disagree. 6k alone opens so many more doors that Sol doesn’t have (i.e. any threatening overhead move… sure his dust is pretty quick but it practically has negative range). Not to mention the fact he can feint that overhead. Let’s not even get into dandy step, dandy step FRC, or the dandy step that goes behind them. Sol’s mixup is basically sweep and wild throw.

Oh, Silly Juice.
Your knowledge on Slayer makes me lulz cakes myself.

I have a job working me 40 - 50 hours a week and Latif has school.
WHAT MAKES YOU SO IMPORTANTTTTTTTTED?!?!?!

OMG!! Cash battle, but money on who works more ;o

Exactly :(… and that leaves you with cash to actually travel.

I wish I had a job that works me 40 - 50 hours a week. D:

6K is a 20 frame overhead that’s really, really obvious. Most players will block it on reaction in most cases (unless it’s America lol), and it really isn’t much different than throwing a random dust in terms of speed and obvious animation frames. 6K feint is terrible because your only real option after it is to throw them, and since they’re not in block stun like they would be from a normal 6K you have some recovery frames that will get you punished. Not saying it isn’t okay to throw it out on rare occasions, but just a regular 6K is much better due to your options after it (blocked or hit).

Dandy step is quite slow and isn’t really “awesome mix up” like you imply it is. It has uses, but everything you can do from it can easily be reacted to. Reverse D-step into EX Bunker is typical Slayer cheese, but also can be reacted to (29 frame cross up).

Slayer and Sol’s mix up are very similar: they both rely on frame traps, throw tech traps, jump traps, etc. to bait you into a mistake. Slayer’s mix up is probably a bit better than Sol’s, but not by a whole lot.

I obviously know nothing about Slayer. Nevermind that I’ve played countless hours over the years with the best Slayer in America. Clearly I’m a button mashing scrub that knows nothing about the game! >:o

Seriously, most of what everyone has been saying has been theory fighter. Saying “OMFG SLAYER CAN DO HUGE DAMAGE OFF OF XXXXXX” is true to a degree, but in reality no Slayer player is going to do crazy 60-90% combos off any random hit. Just because the character can do it doesn’t mean it’s going to happen. That’s like saying “OMFG SOL IS THE BEST CHARACTER IN THE GAME BECAUSE HE CAN VV THROUGH ANYTHING”… and we all know how untrue that is.

Slayers mixup is way better bacause of the threat of damage. Vs sol you can guess wrong all day and just fuck around and not eat 50% every time. It’s like playing A-bison, the fact that he can activate and kill you completely changes the game, a walk up throw becomes one of the best mind games out there, when typically you can just kill him for it.

Mix up, average damage, and max damage are all completely different categories. You can’t lump them together.
