GGXX:Accent Core Thread! [AMERICAN PS2 RELEASE, GO GO GO!]

playing multiple characters weakens my playing i found out. i will play with potemkin against less talented people at our arcade because he is really fun to play and i like watching people jump into an easy heavenly potemkin buster. but when it’s serious time i play my bridget. but now i do a lot less movement and not proper zoning because i am still in a potemkin mindset. i try to just not play potemkin but he’s so damn fun. maybe i should just stop playing sucky people

ehh, thats like saying playing multiple games weakens your overall gameplay, through my experiance that just isn’t true, it may take a round to adapt but it comes back.

Yeah, I can understand if you play characters with very different playstyles, which is more possible in this game compared to more defensive games, but it usually doesn’t take that long to get back into playing the character like you used to play them. It’s more likely that you’re playing scrubs or not playing against other people a lot in general; the latter goes for me, though using Faust is stupid easy.

Speaking of which, I’m sort of bummed out that my teller was incompetent when I went to the bank the last time since she didn’t have me reset my PIN, but that’s partly my incompetence as well on top of not doing it earlier. I have the money I need for SF, though.

Therefore, I will be there at SFSU around 3:30 P.M. today since I still have to about three other things before I even go to SF, where I have to do two other things before I get there.

I just hope the M isn’t crowded like it fucking always is.

yup, I play Sol, HOS, Ky, Eddie, Jam, Baiken, Venom, May, ABA, Testy, Axl, Slayer, Chipp, and Pot.

I summed it down to my 2 best currently, Sol and Testy.

I wanna play as a good HOS or Venom (2 not so easy to learn chars), but my broad cast of chars is throwing it off.

Just pick no more than 3 of them and practice the shit out of them one at a time.

My HOS got a bit worse when I started playing Axl and Venom. And somehow my Sol got a lot better. My Venom improved a bit too, as did my I-no. My Axl fails though. Haven’t learned TK Bomber yet…
I gained more insight into the matchups because of playing other characters. My Order-Sol is still improving now though. Nice. I don’t even now what to do with Venom and Axl…

@The Judge: You need to drop some characters. That’s way, way, too many man.:pleased:

Not really, I play the entire cast (minus Eddie and I-No) on a regular basis and don’t really suffer for it. Just gotta learn how to adjust.

From reviews I’ve heard that it’s the exact same as the PS2 version.
I got the Wii version by the way. Though this is my first Guilty Gear.

Looking things up I can’t see if FRC’s are changed when the Classic Controller is plugged in, nor have I seen anyone on other forums who play the Wii version mention something amongst FRC’s staying down when the CC is used.
I don’t know if it is or isn’t, just can’t find a confirmation.

I currently posted a topic about it in the Arksys forums.

Though other Wii games have their changes adjusted when you use different controllers (Metal Slug Anthology).

EDIT - There’s a way to config. FRC’s in the game. It’s in the Game Options Menu and the “FRC EASY” Panel. It stars at “Off” and it can go up 20, I think this is what they ment with the whole FRC 20 affair. I also got a reply on the Arksys threads and they said the same. So you have nothing to worry about.

Anyway I’m using Bridget and it’s as if the Classic Controller was made for her.

I had said in my last post I summed it down to Sol/Testy.
Mainly cuz they’re my 2 best in the cast.

@CrimsonDisaster: You have experience though, I started playin Guilty Gear around the ending months of XX/.
I didn’t star playing seriosuly till ^Core hit US shelves.

[Necessary Post]Bridget is a boy.[/Necessary Post]

Anyway, sorry about that MAGUS. Even if you went, I was late by 25 minutes and just ended playing CVS2 the entire fucking time.

…After all these years, I’m still unsure whether I hate Sagat or Blanka more. :bluu:

Naw couldn’t make it, had to catch a case I almost forgot about…whew. Definitely Blanka is worse though, he’s like Potemkin in a weird way.

Anyway, drop me a line next time!

:amazed: What the fuck!

Well anyway I’m playing as Ky now, the Classic Controller works amazing with this game once you get use to it. I’ll still get the Hori Stick though.

alas, another potential bridget player turned away by the balls of buri

That always helps

I think it’s important to go through phases of playing other characters in casual to learn more about the game (IMO, the American scene is small enough that 100% specialization in a single character is not a luxury our players have) but for serious tournament play it’s probably a good idea to have a single character you use, and maybe also the counter-character to whatever matchup gives you trouble. Most character switches I see in tournaments don’t work out, the obvious exception being Juicy G who’s always listed as playing like eighteen characters in tournament results and usually wins.

So just play all of them until you know which one you’re best with and then stick with that character for a while.

Nah I’m still playing as him, but Ky is my main because I like the feel of him better.

Seriously though this game is awesome.

Tips for May please n.n

don’t get hit, punish with counterhits

What’s sad is that this is legit advice with May. D:

haha yeah, and watch them get dizzy after 3-4 hits -.-

To expand on what’s been said…
5H, jH, and 2H are all really good moves to fish for counter-hits with. All of them beat a lot of other moves…
5H is easiest to use and the safest to just throw out, frame advantage on hit/block which creates some really difficult to escape blockstrings for some characters. Stagger on CH, if you spot it before your opponent does you can dash up and combo after it.
jH is also pretty easy to just throw out, though you can’t get too carried away because of the way it hits. Launches on CH, you get a free dolphin loop. A bit less safe to whiff since it takes a while to recover and you don’t have many safe options on block so don’t like jump in at point blank range or anything, but it’s a monster poke with a huge payoff.
2H is the hardest one to use safely, but it hits low and beats a ton of moves. Knockdown on normal hit, but on CH it gives you a free dash dolphin loop. Huge reward for landing it on CH, use it early in anticipation of a poke. Requires some decent anticipation to use well but the payoff is way too good. Riskiest of the three options mentioned here but unless they jumped it early, you’re probably not going to eat anything huge.

Other random things-
K is throw invincible, so you can do it meaty against characters with bad reversals.
2D is really good as well, similar use to 2H except when closer. Also a good meaty, gives you a combo if you hit REALLY meaty with it, or just pressure if they block.
May’s infamous 6P isn’t actually all that amazing at normal 6P stuff (aka anti-air) but it’s one of the most dangerous anti-poke moves in the game. It doesn’t beat everything, but when it does you probably stunned them or put them within a mixup from stun.
3K is hella risky and the reward isn’t all that great… but it beats a lot of moves so use it in situations where it’ll work. It’s a bit safer with better payoff if you have meter, still risky though… it’s an important move in May’s arsenal but you have to be smart with it.

Anyone know how much this game sold here in america?
