GGs SRK Vega Thread

i soo agree wit u buddha EAST COAST all FUCKIN DAYY !!!

@pedoviejo: good games! i knew i recognized your gamertag from somewhere and it was awesome to finally get to play an SRK Vega…

…if you ever want to get some more matches in, i am always down. :]

sure.

as for the turbo i called it becaue ive played people with turbo and when they know how to tech using turbo you cant throw them unless you hit them first. And that was happening a lot. but nevermind about the turbo, your OS tech must be pretty good then. GG’s.

If you ever think that someone is using turbo, you could always watch the replays with input on.

Yo!

Haven’t posted on the Vega boards since shortly after vanilla launched, but wanted to stop by and say GGs to some of my fellow Vega players who added and have been playing with me recently! Always nice seeing what other Vega players have up their sleeves. And you can never get enough of the Vega mirror!

Anyway, if anyone else is down for some matches then feel free to add/invite me! I’m in Arizona so keep that in mind in terms of latency. Though I’m not that picky as online is what it is. And I do get decent connections with some on the east coast. I’m on pretty often as this game has pretty much killed my desire to play any other games. Haha

Also, I have some matches of my Vega against Ed Ma’s Balrog/Juri along with some against eva01 (Ken) and Satyamdas (Sim), two really good Cali players, saved in my replays. Unfortunately, I don’t have any way to capture and put them on YouTube, but if any of you are interested in seeing them then I don’t mind making a Replay Channel room.

Hope to play more with some of you!

GGs the Joker. Yea I really did get alot better, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t do the same! Follow some of these tips and you can really improve your game.

  1. Learn those one frame hit confirm links! Pretty much 80 % of the time I hit with a cr lp I went into cr mp into Ex FBA, and as you noticed I hit with cr lp ALOT of times. Worry about this one the most as cr lp is probably the move that is easiest to hit with. Then get your other two main combos down with cr mk and cl Fierce. St lk is by far the hardest one though, but can be useful in several situations.

  2. Learn how to use CH. This is the second move that I hit you with ALOT. Everytime I get CH, that is a free 250 dmg. It is essential to be able to get good with CH. Also those CH setups where I hit at a later frame gives me frame advantage! Even on Balrog if I do cl fierce and then hit him with the CH he cannot jab me out of my cr lp! I learned good followups after a blocked Cl fierce as I showed you today.

Also I found even another great setup for CH. Forward throw or back throw, and then walk and do a meaty CH, if they don’t block they get hit (except in the case of I frames) and if they do block, then you are can be at a huge frame advantage which is perfect if you have the cr lp combo down.

Focus on those two things for now and you can throw in kara throwing as well. If you use some of my setups for CH, Cl fierce, and close grab, and cr lp, and st lk, then kara throw can be an excellent weapon that increases the efficacy of CH and his other pokes significantly.

Just try out new things. That is how you get better. Just today I figured out some of those new tricks, and I even did a trade cl fierce into cr mp into ex FBA against a juri player.

That happened to me 3 times today in a tournament!(against Seth) by the third time I was ready with the EX FBA…

Got messed up by an Adon counterpick in the winner’s quarter finals though…

thx Kamisama

I tried to CH u back but it wasn’t working lol
Also i knew u let me win a couple of rnds to keep my spirit up.

Yea that CH trick u kept gettin me in was annoying  i kept getting tricked every time i block you CH i’ll try to punish but u get me quicker.
Im not to quick with my lp’s like u. and there were other stuff i noticed u kept doing but i couldn’t counter how i wanted to everytime i tried i ended messing myself up.

ggs Pedo, i think the final score was 6-4-1 your way.

I really suprised myself by getting some W’s on you. I remember back when you used to slaughter my ass xD

Maybe it was luck though >_< but i’ll keep the advice you gave me in mind for our next set.

GG to Duey. I was playing as T. Hawk on my brothers Xbox (normally I play on PSN) and ran into him. He fucked me up. lol. Been messing around with everyone in the cast lately to learn the game/matchups better… and looks like my T Hawk needs some serious work. Duey knows his shit. so ya, GGs to you man!

The Vega - T. Hawk match certainly seems in Vegas favor, or he made it look that way… Speed > Power.

Hey gg Graphf! I actually ran into a few T Hawks last night so I don’t know which one was you (one beat me ; ; ). But yeah I’d agree that Vega has a big advantage in that matchup. Meaty Izuna can really own T Hawk, and for some reason he’s just alot less threatening to me than say, Zangief. If you’re on Xbox again some time hit me up!

GGs to Rugal.

That was quite hilarious XD Eat my loafers!

Hah! I was saying “Stop making me eat your loafers!” But yes. GGs! You’re getting better and better.

Also, GG to pretty boy Tatsu. Always a pleasure.

GGs Qbanace. Your Vega has gotten alot better from before. Your links have gotten better and so has your defense. However, don’t forget to utilize the tools that you have like back dash and ST. If you only block and tech grabs then I am going to look for when you tech grabs and punish you for it. Sometimes doing a back dash is also better to get out of a bad situation even if you know you will get hit.

Unlike what Seth K. thinks though, “turtling” isn’t as great with Vega as he thinks. Regardless though its good that most of the time you aren’t panicking on defense. Blocking is usually the way to go and then you got to look for a way out so that you can be on the offense again. Don’t let me just keep dashing in and continuing pressure, especially with Ibuki where a wrong move can lead up to over 400 dmg (her super and her U2).

Then when you go on offense, you should be pressuring me greatly. Not just hitting me with combos per se, but making sure that I am on the defense. Poke me, dash in, combo or w/e. Don’t let me relax and do what I want.

As you noticed I was very ready to AA you with Vega most of the time and I utilized the cr HP well I think. Don’t forget to really utilize Vega’s repertoire of AA moves.

As for me… I started playing again a few days ago after completely not playing for three months. This is why as you noticed I dropped most of my 1 frame links, and messed up some of the timing for some of my moves (like cl hp dash in cl hp, where you saw me just standing there after the dash lol). Regardless I hope you can learn some of the tricks that I used on you with my offense such as the CH as a great wake up tool after hitting ST and my CH in general. CH frame traps are quite powerful as you saw even though I couldn’t link my cr lp.

I main Ibuki now, even though I like Vega better. It’s kind of sad that I have to drop my favorite character in AE after I got so good with him.

Man, Kamisama, I can see why you made the switch to Ibuki. Last time we played I remember I lost the first 2, then I had a really good run until you switched to Vega then all hell broke lose. It would always go to the final round and you got me every time. Now the recent games that we had, your Ibuki has gotten to that grand master level, lol. I managed to get only 2 out of the 7 followed by another Claw exhibit. I did drop alot of the 7 to 10 hit links that I rarely miss and started to get frustrated. I usually go to the training room for about 15 min. to get my rhythm down before I do matches then they are more fluid. But when you sent me that invite when I logged on, I was like man, I haven’t played Kamisama in a while, here’s my chance. Not saying that it would of made a difference because it’s so hard to get a hit confirm on you because you’re spacing is on point. It’s just something I pride myself on and when I drop a few I start beating myself up over it. But yeah man, let’s get another set going soon. It’s always fun getting some games in with you.

good games Alex, although you dont play Vega and idk if youll read this, those where great games.

@Joz

sorry for my complete shitty play. Im completely readjusting my play style, so it does not incorporate Cosmic Heel, unless its to punish something.

ggs alex,

sorry for sending you a blehhh message but i was pissed that i wanted to run it back against your ibuki and the games just kept freezing
no, that was not my connection. i’ve never had a game do that to me, ever. Once I figured out that ibuki’s (fucked up) focus attack barely ever gets hit by both hits of roundhouse i was way more comfortable, but man, she does retarded damage. i feel like every time ibuki knocks me down i’m completely and utterly and royally fucked. do you have any ideas on how i can block kunai better? I might just go into training mode and figure out all of the common set ups for kunai and see which way i have to block, because jesus!!! i’m a fish out of water once i get knocked down with neckbreaker

ggs pedo,
cosmic heel has nothing to do with it. every time you did that string into c. mk RCF you lost all your momentum you could have had with tick pressure. cosmic heel is totally useless against other vega’s cause i’m crouch teching with c. mp, it’s literally never going to hit me in those situations. the ranges don’t work out and you have to make sure you’re doing tight strings that DON’T rob you of your momentum after while doing like 30 chip damage and pushing me away from you.

also, scarlet terror has no use against vega whatsoever. after i shut it down you were still using it; why? you have to go air to air with vega or move around when i’m continually jumping in on you. after i trained you to not use an AA, I started kara throwing you and you didn’t tech them nearly as often as my other throws. vega’s jump arc is too narrow for scarlet terror to work, and his jump ins are too deep. i was beating ST without trade. also, against adon: EVERY time i did a string you would do a scarlet at the end of it. i got you with the fadc at the end of the one round cause i KNEW you would do it. you have to integrate other anti-air options like going air to air and etc or else ST is useless. you can’t have one without the other, as soon as i found a way around it with my characters you were in trouble.

other wise, looking good. i just realized after fighting you the first time that you had an easily exploitable gap in your defense and that’s how i got my wins. i was playing sloppy and basically just trying to rush you before doing anything else, but it’s because i knew i would be able to crack you. I suggest forgetting about cosmic heel for now and focusing hard on tightening up your defense, primarily finding ways to AA other than ST.

@ Pedo- GGs. I still play Vega here and there, but I just am not as good as I was. Next time I play you and Joz I’ll use Vega.

@Jozhear- GGs. I hate to give away my Ibuki secret lol, but I might as well so that when you play against an Ibuki player that knows what to do, you can beat her with my true main.

I generally try to do non cross up Kunai’s that look like cross up Kunais. Sometimes I mess up and it really does cross up which works fine with me since it’ll keep you guessing. Now my Kunai’s are safe so SC reversal won’t work. The thing with Kunai is that even if you block I’m at + advantage if I do them right so you can get really messed up either way.

Your best bet is to FA dash away, but if you do… I can really mess up your timing with her other mixups if you focus on wakeup, and get some major damage anyway. But if successful you get away free, unlike standing there for max pressure. If you DO block, most Ibuki’s probably will and should be doing the NON cross up Kunai, so you should probably block accordingly most of the time.

Most Ibuki players that I have seen try to do significantly less damaging combos that are easier to do, and don’t know how to get back in for more pressure. They also don’t know how to utilize tsumiji (spin kicks) like I do. So once you block their few moves the pressure will stop.

About my connection, what I meant that it wasn’t me was that its not my internet service or modem or anything. My PS3 doesn’t do that and my computer runs with no problems. Only Xbox live gives me that problem. I don’t know why and I agree that it is quite annoying.

Tick pressure doesnt always work from my experience, and im used to people just teching it or jumping out. Cosmic Heel was my main way of pressuring because i was left with so many options. thing is i have to be closer to use it. It wont work semi max distance and in AE that is going to equal at least -2 or -3. so i have to find ways to pressure more while standing using normals and chip RCF. Kara’s are nice, but like i said they are pretty easy to see coming so im going to start using RCF more since Cosmic Heel is gone. And since Cosmic Heel is gone kara throws lost half their effectiveness. So at this point im going to treat RCF like a spaced tiger knee. Taking advantage of Vega’s mobility, I can just use it to chip safely, and reposition myself and constantly reset the situation back to footsies.

Honestly i was pushing that damn throw button but its i was teching to early or to late since i late tech everything. ive also been trying to learn how to crouch tech, so thats another issue. The main issue though is when i saw a kara throw coming i would always do ST. A new way im using ST is to punish throw attempts. Once i have that down i will have two ways to punish a throw attempt.

I know ST was losing a lot, but i still kept using it on purpose for AA, and against strings. Why even though i kept getting punished. For learning purposes, what strings can i mash mk.ST to beat out certain moves thanks to lk and mk ST cool properties, and to learn how to read better in between block strings. After all you dont learn in till you get smashed in pretty bad.

And trust i can block all day every day and AA easily with all of his AA’s, just have to learn how to utilize all aspects of ST properly so ill keep abusing that move. So i dont mind losing badly, just as long as im learning what i have to.

@Alex

im suprised i did as well as i did. Sorry for mashing ST, but i just have to learn how to use that move.

@Joz

Wait till i start using and abusing SHC. I shit you not, i will start throwing that move like i do ST right now.

@ pedo- Yea I know how it is, abusing a move to learn its properties even though it means that you will lose. I’m trying to do that with my ibuki right now too. When AE comes out Ibuki is getting alot better so I can’t wait to finally have my better frame traps and possibly hit box fixes.
