GGs SRK Vega Thread

GGs jozhear. Sorry about that lag, but regardless I think you can see some of the things I have been working on. RCF stuff doesn’t work that well against Vega which is why I didn’t use it as much, but I used alot of other useful tactics. AA for example, I have been working on alot and I think you can see some of what I mean. St mp, cr mp, st RH, cr HP are the main ones I have been working on, and when AE comes out I will probably be able to use cr mk as well.

For all the ranges that you can’t move back and AA, you should be able to dash under and get a free combo. I am just not used to doing that as Vega yet, cause his dash isn’t as godly as Ibuki’s. You will be surprised how often dashing under gets you out of an opponents jump in.

As for st mp which I used alot. It has surprisingly far range but doesn’t hit certain crouchers, but if you use it at the right range people’s ground attacks won’t reach you… except for a few, and it will stuff a jump attempt or standing attack. Regardless it works very well as an AA and as a poke if you know how to mix it with your other pokes.

I got you with the CH mixup alot, because I finally figured out how to use it as an ambiguous mixup. The problem is that after CH x ST the timing differs per situation, and it differs from the izuna one completely, and I haven’t practiced it enough. But the one after the ST is better if they want to get up imediately, because it can be extremely ambigous if done right. If they don’t get up immediately I am working on three possible followups that opponents will not like.

Those one framers were hard because of the lag, so I didn’t attempt them much, and it messed up both of us lol. I have been trying to use CH less, cr mk more, and I use U1 now mainly to prepare for AE edition. This is why I have been changing my tactics so that I could prepare for how I will play in AE. I have also been working on U1 setups and they work fairly well, but not as well on Vega lol. I like how U1 will guarantee that I hit my opponent (except for those stupid hit box problems where I hit, but then miss the second part) whereas I have to guess for U2.

I still suck at kara throw which is why I don’t use it (I tried it once and failed, then you punished me hard. I’d say my success rate is around 60% but I want it to be more reliable), and I don’t prefer to throw anyways. Still though you got me good a couple of times, and your use of kara throw is really good. I do use it here and there for extreme cases though. GGs man. Hopefully next time there will be no lag.

GGs Jozhear. Sorry about that sloppy play today but its really late and I was tired. I was up trying to test a few new strategies with RCF, U1 and U2 which was why I was on actually.

Nevertheless its good to see that you got alot better since last time! Very nice use of Vega’s move set during combos and block strings. I see you modified your defense techniques as well which is great, seeing as how fast Vega walks. Your AA was much stronger too. Much more solid Vega this time around.

Sometimes your ST was beating me when I had advantage and thus it was annoying when I was expecting to beat it.

As you can see my timing on my CH corpsehops mixups was off, and it is difficult to time, but when I timed it right, you can see the strength of it as a mixup, particularily in the corner. We both used CH alot less when it would be unsafe (in AE) which is good, and we were relying on our solid techniques more.

Once again GGs. I’m not going to play that much for a few months so it’ll probably be a while till we play again.
