Getting lost in the beat: Dee Jay Video Thread (front page updated 1/16/12)

Its really not that big of a deal.

it helps me to not mash backdash. every match i use deejay’s backdash as an escape i end up getting knockdown.

i’ve been losing more than usual and i need all of my crutches lol

I chose U1 against the player not the matchup against Chris. He backdashes sometimes and if I think I have a good read I will do it. I’d use U2 but he doesn’t usually use cr. fierce.

that 24/7 lobby is str8 ass, just lag the entire time they need to shut that garbage down seriously.

stop jumping in, you have to out lame sim until he gets bored and decide to be dumb and jump in on you. all sims LOVE when you jump in like you did rd2. free dmg for hit all day. Sim players will just keep hitting buttons. Oh and stop doing random ex sobat, try looking or reading his FBS patterns save ex metter for that and ex-mas outs. look up “Demavrick” i think he got a sim math up on his youtube paige, this is how he has showed me how to play this fight. OUT LAME him and eventually his dumbass WILL come to you and its FREE DMG.

umm hell no you must be smoking. i doubt anyone will be throwing us out of it like that. Unless you play a friend(s) alot that knows your habit etc etc and just mash throw on reaction to reading a lk sobat.

UC1 has always been the better UC for ALL FB chars, or the better UC all around UC2 just has that huge dmg that i love and the animation it self (hahaha hands down favorite UC in the game next Goukens) just gotta reaction to there FB pattern and its good for chip. A bit more chip would’nt hurt but oh well moving on… But on the other hand UC@ is good if you can reac quickly to sim hiting random FP from mid screen

its not that my friends are reading me in AE, its the fact that i thought you could steal use it to obvious throws. I play online too much. i was playing offline with my boy and i’m ok at teching. online got me thinking otherwise lol

Honestly I don’t even really like U1 for chip now either. Yea, it does a lot of chip, but there’s no way to lock the opponent in block stun to safely activate the ultra. So more often than not you’re just going to get to get counter ultra’ed right after the flash.

And besides that the I-frames on that move are pretty bad. If you just toss it out there raw for chip you may be surprised at what’s going to beat you out.

Yeah, many characters can even focus the first hit and end it right there. The only time I use U1 is for characters I expect to punish their ultra with it. Blanka and Honda are the two that come to mind. I also use it for chip on Gief and T-Hawk since I rarely have a scenario where I can pull off U2.

lol damn you got him… With basic bison.

Also lmao comments. Lunch Money XD

hey folks, ive been recording my matches lately. heres my channel… YouTube - dugthefreshest’s Channel

deejay has his own playlist

Nice matches, the fuerte fight i could see you adapting as that match progressed. You used ex mgu to make him stop overheading your wake up, i didnt realize the invincibility was that good on it. Later u fadced a fireball and he escaped ur jump fierce by wall jumping. Then u got in a similar situation soon after that and jump back stronged him for the win. You got desperate next 2 rounds catching that auto correct ultra then holding upback till he gave u a walk ultra. Entertaining match, you got mad lucky to win it lol, I await your AE match vids.

Thanks I guess. I was playing actual matches with deejay for the first time on stick today(only been in training workin on dash ultra) It felt so good, my Ken has gotten decent but deejay just feels right to me.

I’m going to be posting a few matches vs Guile later today for review but until then, I want to post a match from an online tournament running on an irish site. I have been working on my spacing alot and though I did really well. Received a comment form a good player saying that I played the Sakura match-up pretty poorly.

The Sakura in the vid, yreval, is a super player and punishes mistakes incessently. As Ryu, I never beat him once. My plan was to be patient, space well and force a knockdown, then apply vortex pressure.

I know I dropped links (and I has a perfect opportunity to cancel the sobat into a super at the start of round 2, game 1), but I’m feeling a bit deflated this morning by the comments.

Any comments on what I did wrong is, as always, appreciated. Was my spacing ok? I think I am playing a far more patient game recently which is working better for me.

I just played a 40 game set with the best sakura player from springfield, and probably the best sakura main on the east coast.

This sakura is not that good. Its probably just online because i suck online as well. He’s showing why the matchup is 6-4 when i think its a little less than that maybe a 5.5-4.5
He let you get knee shots in the match. if a sakura lets you knee shot, you have to be able to convert the damage. you won’t be getting to many of those.
sakura’s small hitbox combined with cr. fierce takes knee shot out of the match if the sakura can react to it.
if he does cr. short ex tatsu and it doesn’t connect get ready to punish. you should atleast be able to sweep on reaction.
the only time a good sakura will let you jump on her is when she’s waking up. all of her options can be easily safe jumped.

if the sakura makes bad jump-ins upkick or trip guard with sweep. you did both so that’s good.
you got the mp link. i know its hard to confirm. I think you should go with the lk sobat because you can mess her up on wake up and force a mistake.
you pressed way too many buttons in the corner. you have to just wait for the throw tech or if she goes for the overhead ex sobat yourself away from the corner.
personally i don’t mind getting hit with the overhead. its leads to no damage for sakura.
most players in general who can’t really combo off of an overhead go low after so get ready for that.
the fullscreen ex sobat was bad. half damage and you’re not honda lol sweep to get in range next time and then do that. it was a waste of meter. i’d safe that for the 3rd round.
if sakura does tatsu to guess a fireball backdash or upkick if you can react.
if the corner is on screen i recommend ex mgu > mk upkick to get them to the corner. i understand the ex sobat gives you more time to set up, but that also gives your opponent more time to think. if you do mk upkick it gets them to the corner and you have more meter incase the tides turn.

On a side not i just played a 30 game set with abel, juri, sakura, and adon respectively (30 games a piece)
i wish i could upload them, but they’re offline. online ruins my confidence so i don’t think i’ll be able to upload anymore videos. i’ll try to have offline sets with better players, but idk if i’ll update my channel in a while.

^good advice, this match goes pretty sour when she gets you in the corner, remember that her strings to LK tatsu arent block strings, so try to look at when shes gonna do t and upkick her. her J.HP is really good like shoto, J.HK, its hard to AA with normals.

I think it was more to due to matchup experience. If he gets a chance, his mixup game is unreal.

I was wary of using knee shot and got punished a few times.

Yeah, we had lots of games after this and I noticed that. The sweep worked well.

Cool.

Can you explain “trip guard” please?

It’s something I’m putting alot of practice into so I’m happy that I’m hitting it online.

OK.

To be honest, that’s the type of play that he hammered me with in the past, and I just didnt know what to do. When we had friendlies later, I was able to throw him after the lk.tatsu.

Yeah, it was risky and I think it changed the flow of that match. However, I agree with you that wasn’t a good idea.

I really like that idea re mk.upkick as he has no time to recover from the pressure. Need to get that down. Great idea.

Thanks for all the effort jcool!

Yep, I just didn’t know what to do in that situation but have a good idea now

trip guarding to my understanding is making you’re opponent land on a sweep.

if they empty then they get to punish if you did slide.
if they press a normal, then slide will hit. in your case he always pressed a button in the air.

this happens because empty jumps have 0 landing frames and jump-ins with a normal have 4 landing frames.

i know its a lot of information to absorb at one time, but it will definitely help. if you play a long set, you’ll find all of the things i’ve said to be true.

My Deejay hasn’t been going too well, pretty much have been losing to everyone and essentially forgot what to do. Considered dropping him (or more specifically just dropping street fighter in general). Winrate went down (~48% now), bp and pp went down significantly, and in general just wasn’t feelin it.

Due to that i deleted my old channel, anyone who wants to learn the char can find much better resources than my scrubby ass vids.

However though im trying to get back into things, so here’s some vids from my latest play session.
