I mean I can up some vids of my pretty ass Dee Jay. idk.
Just wanted to chime in on the Guile issue real quick…
The Guile match doesn’t seem “that bad” when they don’t know the matchup. But once they learn exactly how to play the match, and specific punishes, it’s a fucking cakewalk for them. And getting out of Deejay’s “vortex” really isn’t that hard for good players. Once he has you at least 1/2 screen away, the risk/reward ratio is GROSSLY in Guile’s favor. The other night I ran into a 16,000 BP Guile player who was pretty aggressive. I won the first 2 games without much trouble. However, slowly but surely he started to learn the match better, and realized that being aggressive just hurt him. By the 3rd game he was turtling hardcore (and figured out all his punish options), and from that point on I could not beat him.
-EX Sobat through SB will only punish close range EX Sonic Booms. Otherwise: he blocks, you eat a st. fierce
-Sliding under SB is pointless cause Guile’s recovery allows him to do anything he wants to you
-If ANY version of Sobat is blocked at close range (or slide at any range) it’s a free Flash Kick for him
-Once he catches on to knee shot, it’s Air Throw City
-If you catch a small life lead and try to hang back, it’s hopeless. The EX Sonic Booms will just keep coming. And he’s not gonna jump at you.
This is why I think the match will drastically change in AE:
- Shorter slide will greatly improve Deejay’s ability to control space and push Guile into the corner during fireball wars
- The nerf to Guile’s meter gain will help you hang onto life leads and turtle
- The nerf to Guile’s air throw will keep him from shutting down your knee shots
- Reduction in AS recovery (combined with shorter slide) will improve zoning even more
- More frame advantage on FADC’d Sobats gives you another option to get through SB’s
- Guile’s meter nerf will also limit his ability to just FADC his wakeup flash kicks whenever you get in on him
sorry.
Hey guys, I decided to record the two mirror matches I played against No_Cigar (THIS IS RJ):

Edit: Please excuse my sorry excuse for a camera…this thing is ancient.
sweet, I can’t put videos up b/c my computer is messed up and flash won’t work. I know I ran into like every single EX sobat through my fireballs.
Please critique me, I’m trying to get better. Recently I’ve been working my spacing and footsies. I have more of an aggressive playstyle and less fireballs. I play super safe online though.
Yeah getting hit by those EX sobats through the EX airslashers hurt you quite a bit. I’m starting to feel a lot more confident with the mirror match up now, especially since I play with another solid Dee Jay from time to time. Though at the same time I find it a bit more difficult to pressure Dee Jay simply because of his upkicks, which makes you rely a lot less on jump ins and crossup mixups. The upkicks are a great tool to have, but also very annoying to fight against at the same time.
seems like you guys were making the same mistake i was making against low tier player. you shouldn’t walk behind a fire ball because ex sobat will catch you. you can’t block on reaction from what i’ve experienced. you guys need to find some sj setups.

@Da Knut…Im in georgia two…I wouldnt mind playing with yall guys sometimes. I wana get my game up lol
I was so free on that stream last night. I need to step my Deejay game up. That mirror match killed me. Plus I was just doing dumb shit.
I really don’t like the mirror match right now. At mid range you just both sit there on down back while it’s sobat back and forth and some c.mk. Jump ins are impossible even with knee shot. Long range it’s just a fireball war that no one wins. I really feel that the one who has more patience to lame it out wins.
I got completely destroyed in a mirror match yesterday, not used to it (and 5 months without playing doesn’t help). I can feel that it can be a pain in the a… though.
Thanks for all the criticism. I appreciate it.
How effective are safe jump setups really? I can usually tell when my opponent safe jumps, and when they are a little late I know I can get them.
Yea I learned that. I don’t see how you guys can react that fast. I need to get my reactions quicker lol. I couldn’t even LK upkick his knee shots, even though I was waiting for it…
I kept hitting him on wakeup so I figured he liked pushing buttons that’s my logic. I usually throw a lot. It’s hard to gauge people if you play them once or twice, I’m working on reading and adapting too.
Vids are uploading now. I got two against two online randoms using Bison and Vega, then one against a fellow Dee Jay main (KomboKaze) using Akuma. Uploading that one tomorrow.
ALERT, ASS QUALITY AHEAD
Vs. Bison

hey DeeJays, just checkin in, lettin u guys know what i been up to. I havent had much time to play cause i been moving around a lot for work. A few of you know I’m a pad player but i just switched to stick a few weeks ago so i can go play some AE DeeJay, the transition is going slow cause i havent practiced much. Ive been using Ken alongside deejay to try to get used to it quicker, and to try to avoid picking up bad habits with my deejay. You guys prolly wont see any videos from me for a lil bit while i get accustomed since im not near my full potential on stick yet. But its nice to see you guys still repping DJ, stepping your games up. Happy New Year and keep rockin the beat
