cole has a buff DJ! he showed me a combo that ive never seen anyone else do(i havent been able to watch many vids as of late:sweat:) it was j.rh>st.lk>st.lp>cr.lk>ex slasher>ex dread kicks. i can do it but i was wondering if anyone knew if it was chacter specific? on cross up, is this combo possible… i cant test… im at work:sad:
I guess this combo is not possible on cross up, because j.rh will most likely not cross up too often if at all. I only had it cross up once by accident. EX Slasher to EX Sobat combos are cool, there are many normal chains to follow it up with. Very few people use his standing light normals in combo actually, that’s propably why you have never seen this specific combo yet. However these moves have good frame advantage making them nice to combo and they are more damaging than your goto c.lp. I like cl.lp, cl.lk, far.lk EX Slasher > EX Sobat. The link just feels easy for me.
cl.lk goes to cr.mp for more damage on the combo. Also, be aware the link from cl.lp to cl.lk is a 1 framer.
I can’t really pull off the ex slasher to ex sobat reliably. I’m not sure it’s worth the meter all the time, but in certain situations I know it is.
The frame advantage on cl.lk is so good. I feel like I’ve seriously been overlooking it in block strings and combos.
EDIT: scratch that: cl.lk has the same startup and frame advantage as cl.mk but does 30 less damage. no reason to use cl.lk since it’s not chainable, cl.mk will do everything it does with 75% more damage.
Also, j.mk, st.lk, st.lp, cr.lk, ex slasher, ex sobat should be possible on crossup. It’s going to depend on the spacing after the jumpin so you may have to play with how deep it is.
I’m liking cr.hp xx ex upkicks as a punish. does 270 EASY damage.
Also liking cl.mk, cr.lp, cr.mp, hk sobat as a good link combo. 222 damage and is even better with a jump in. The jab only reduces the damage by like 6 points and makes the combo easier. Good meterless damage.

the problem is you have to learn who it works on and who it doesn’t. i’d rather just go for universal setups.
I’m liking the c.HP x EX Upkicks too. It’s a beefy bit of damage. Not too many chances to use it though except for blocked SRKs.
What’s the startup of c.HP compared to c.MP, anyone know? I’m trying to incorporate more c.hpunches into my game.
cr.hp has 1 more frame of startup. So it should combo off a counterhit cr.lp lol
And why does every down-up charge move have to be character specific off cr.hp? So lame!
cr.hp xx hk sobats still does 210 damage for no real execution requirement. That’s basically the same as cr.lp, cr.mp, hp MGU mashed to the max.
Really only 1 frame slower? Wow. I thought it was a bit slower then that. I’ll have more confidence in using it now.
Remember that you can chain cl.lk after a jab which makes it easier to combo if you are not planning on cancelling it, which you probably won’t, because you either use it to set up a tick throw or frame trap in block strings where it is far safer than cl.mk because of the chainability or you are going to link another move afterwards. If you are comfortable with the jab to cl.mk link go ahead, but I rather use cl.lk just because you can chain it. It also happens to move you forward a bit which is especially nice for ticks.

if it chains i’m definitely gonna use it, but the frame data says it doesn’t, according to the frame data the only lk that is chainable is the cr.lk. frame data says neither close nor far standing lk chains

nice job knut, cardell is one of my good friends, i havent played him much in super tho cause my xbox was broke for a while and before that he wouldnt stay in rooms with me for long cause he hated deejay, i bet he regrets that now lol he didnt know the match even a little.
Well played stuff vs Dru as well, hes a beast i used to play him a lot in Vanilla, main thing i woulda done different is chill on the mk sobat after he neutral jumped and punished the very first one you through, Honda is one of deejays harder matches imo.
good matches vs gief i think that could be deejays hardest match if the gief is skilled. Second round u didnt react to gettin hit with that green hand and got ultraed(i warned u about that in the ranked video i saw of you =p) and it was tough to watch u give it away with that unsafe lk sobat at the end when u had such a lead. Second match u were free to empty jump throw and misjudged some of his safe jumps. You caught a tough break early in the last round where it didnt force him to block the 2nd hit of sobat and you got 360ed then u mistimed a slide AA a few seconds later which he punished and got momentum and you got desperate. Great fights tho man I always enjoy watching you, youre solid as hell.
Close s.lk does chain. I personally dont really like doing ex slasher to ex sobat because the setups change depending on character/pushback. ex mgu to ex sobat does more damage. I do rarely attempt it because i often end blocked blockstrings with ex slasher to push em back, so if it hit someone at the end of a block string I will very rarely attempt it. If you notice the video of cole vs cody he does it and the ex sobat gets blocked and he eats an ultra for it. Thats exactly why i dont like doing it.

If you are reffering to the frame data on eventhubs:
If a move can be chain cancelled, it means that you can use any light move to cancel it (I assume).
In this example it means that cl.lk can be used after every light move that you can chain out of, but you can’t chain out of cl.lk. That is why you can also chain far.lk after chain cancellable light moves even though it has no chain property listed, because the C in the cancel column is referring to being able to cancel a light move with another light move.

i’ve used the setup before and its great on cody because he has no answer to crossups.
From what i’ve noticed in order to make it cross up you would have to walk forward more making the block stun decrease allowing them to possible stop your cross up.

0:33. DeeJay jumps in the corner. It seems to be a crossup, but it´s a fake and Sakura eats a combo.
I have done it in training and its not difficult, and it seems a good mixup in the (left??) corner. My question is: does it work in the other corner? I mean… in the right side? I tried it a bit and could not do it.
^It usually works in the left corner. Sometimes it doesn’t work on either, sometimes it works on both. It’s kinda character dependent. I usually just go for it not without which side I’ll land on lol.
that link is alright. you dont keep a down charge though when you do that, so you cant do MGU after it.
I use cr.lp -> cl.mp sometimes. but I find that cr.lp -> cl.mk is the better thing to go for. its a bigger reward for the same link (2-frames). plus, if the knee shot didn’t put you close enough for some reason, you get the shitty far mp. Of course you could say that about the MK also, at least is CAN link though. you can combo MGU off these too. cause of how late the game keeps a charge.
Thanks for the feedback I know I can beat those guys but It’s difficult beating Dru and the Gief player in a consistant basis. Especially the gief player. The whole state of GA fears him lol. It’s always the same people at the top 3. Dru, JTO, Cardell, Shinkuur and TooMuchDamage. I’m new to the scene and I’m getting closer and closer. If the brackets are fixed in a certain way so I don’t have to deal with Bison, Honda or Adon. I think I could finaly reach the grand finals. But then again, I need to work on Chun Li a little bit more so I’ll be prepaired for any matchup
