Fatman takes too much damage
Started using this a bit after a jump in. It’s hot. It’s a good and easy hit-confirm and does good damage. The only problem is you gotta be so close for the cl.st MP to come out which can sometimes be a problem as it’s not so easy to get super deep on a jumpin and using knee-shot can make it hard to get the back charge in time. Still it’s a real easy link and a good way to set up his super (jump hard/medium kick/punch , c.lp, clst.mp xx Sobat xx Super.
Hi guys,
Last month I posted a few DeeJay vids and received alot of solid feedback from all of you.
I’m going to be posting batches of vids over the next week or so. I took some random matches and put them online. The first 2 are just ranked matches, while the third is a first to three game online tournament.

The 2 ranked matches are ones I won (randomly selected to upload them) but I am going to concentrate on uploading the ones I lost. The tournament match was a bit laggy for the first round of game 1 and that was pretty evident.
From my own viewings, I know I am still relying on c.lp, c.lp, c.lp, c.mk on hit confirm when I should be linking to c.mp>sobat/max out. I have the cr.lp to cr.mp link down in training but yet to add it to my online matches.
All comments very welcome. Apologies for quality of video (iPhone).

criticism is welcome on my crap deejay
Work on frame traps because you opponents were mashing cr. lp and crouch teching like a mother.
cr.lp, cr.mp
cr.lp, st.mk and etc.
And Sobaits are not safe on Guile. Your opponent didn’t know the match so I guess if it aint broke, don’t fix it.
Hi Da Knut,
Thanks for taking time out to comment on my vids. I’ll be very honest and say that I barely know what frame traps are. I guess I need to work on my overall gme knowledge.
A frame trap is when you delay a high priority move in a block string by a fraction of a second so that they you hit their cr.lp, cr.lk etc?
You mention cr.mp and st.mk. I generally use the cr.mp. Is there any time when it is more advisable to hit the st.mk as a frame trap?
Thanks for the info on sobats v guile. It might have worked on this guile who might not know that matchup, but I need to know that vs Guiles that do know this and will punish accordingly.
I have been racticing alot with knee shot, mix ups, and the cr.lp > cr.mp link but I haven’t added them to my online game yet.
Anyone else see areas where I need to get better?
@garak001, pretty good stuff. I’ll just tell you some stuff that I saw that I didn’t like. I didn’t like when you put yourself in the corner multiple times, try and stay out of the corner, or at least go for the fake cross ups on the left corner. Also when you block a flash kick you can do cr. HK or ultra, I saw you try cr. MK and miss. On knockdowns you went for cross up alot, which is good vs. Guile, but against Cody you should mix him up more, and others too. And try blocking more on wakeup, and backdash when your midscreen.
I just mentioned the bad stuff, but you did a good job, and you can tell that you know how to play DJ.
Seems like an early version of my deejay. I disagree with some of your decision making and punishes.
Random sobats on knowledgable guiles will get you destroyed. I’ll elaborate later. I’m on my Droid now.
@m1tchapalooza, neither of you really looked like you knew the match. Abel just kept jumping in lol. He was a masher, you could have baited him out many times, but instead he ultra’d you twice. Dee Jay vs. Abel is tough, especially online cuz its harder to react in time.
Against his CoD rekka move you can do two counters:
-If you have down charge and he just throws it out then reversal EX MGU after the first hit. Only do this if you think he’ll go for a second hit, cuz if he just does one he’s safe. You can also do MK/EX upkicks or U2 but those are risky.
-If you don’t have a down charge in time, then block the second hit high and by that time you should have a back charge so do LK/EX sobat.
Hi No_cigar, thanks for the reply.
…try and stay out of the corner, or at least go for the fake cross ups on the left corner.
Re Guile match-up, it’s pretty clear that I do not know the match-up, both from a defensive and offensive point of view. No sobat pressure-gothca.
Re Cody, can you elaborate more re mix up. I understand I should cross up and use tic throws as well…anything else?
Thanks again 9and for the compliments, good to hear I’m doing some things right)!
Hi Jcool, thanks for the info! Yeah, I think my lack of guile experience showed, but I feel my opponent didn’t know DeeJay at all which helped me. I have learned not to sobat Guile. Any other characters I shouldn’t sobay?
L:ooking forward to reading your extended comments, in particular your thoughtson decision making and punishes. I played Ryu for ages and so I hesitate on occasion when think what punish/decision is best.
I can answer this.
There’s a glitch that the two corners don’t function exactly the same, some stuff that can cross up on one side, can’t on the other.
Capcom have said that the problem is at the core of the SFIV engine and can’t be patched out.
Hey i’m going to be more active about the matchup section on the first page. Expect to see more updates there and more match ups categorized.
I was going to only put good matches there, but i decided i would put the good and the bad so ppl can see what and what not to do. If you have matches you would want in there let me know.
Cheers for supporting that thread, Jcool.
I’d definitely be interested in seeing some Bison matchup information, I have such trouble countering safe short scissor pressure.
Anybody see Afro Cole’s Deejay on the NEC stream this weekend?
He was doing pretty good in teams.
Here’s the vid of him
Nothing too crazy. It looked like a lot of the guys he fought just had no idea how to fight Deejay (especially in the match where he beat Sanford). But he really got the crowd and the stream excited.
Sadly, the view count of this forum was only 1 viewer when i looked earlier today.
gg afro cole. Somebody tell him not to mash EX MGU lol. You can’t hit the follow up upkicks if you mash.
That’s a gimmick mixup. The first time he did it he landed in front of Dudley and baited a dp. The second time he landed behind him. It’s kind of like the lk sobait mixup after a knockdown.
Oh yeah, I didn’t really notic that. I saw the knee cross over to bait the DP, but idk. I can’t say I agree with not hitting a follow up after the EX MGU. More damage + more carry into the corner. lol but he won so yeah.
Are you sure? I think I do it all the time…
In the corner you can do it, and midscreen you can get EX MGU > EX sobat. But to get EX MGU > HK upkick (2 hits) you can’t mash. I only mash if they block it, or if I’m just trying to get EX MGU > EX sobat.
