Getting lost in the beat: Dee Jay Video Thread (front page updated 1/16/12)

Lol, he started to use max outs in the 3rd minute.

someone commented on that video that the announcers were being assholes.

I totally disagree. If anything, they were being pretty respectful considering how awful Fadam was playing. Seriously, why even enter a tournament if you’re that bad? Maybe he doesn’t realize it. Like those American Idol auditions where the person auditioning refuses to believe they suck at singing.

That comment is way off base if you ask me.

fair enough. i know if everyone had the mindset of “why enter a tournament if you’re bad?”, then there would be no tournaments.

i was just really thrown off at that level of play at the Canada Cup, a tournament which was supposed to feature all the best players in the entire country of Canada (and I was secretly hoping that some hidden “Deejay in the rough” would emerge and shock the world).

So i guess i was just more frustrated than anything when i saw that video.

For once we finally get a Deejay player, at a major, on stream, with thousands of people watching. And who do we get to represent all the Deejays of the world? FADAM!

Here’s a thought, maybe the guy doesn’t suck and just had a bad game at a tournament? That’s just me though. I know you guys are all tourney scarred veterans who haven’t been ran through like the guy in the video… EVER. =0\

lol he is A rank. So that means he reached 15k and lost 3k. Once you get A rank, the point system gives you no mo soup.

@Xiahou Dun- I don’t really provoke Blanka’s wake up game. Maybe every now and then. But if he is in the corner, I will Rush him down until he gets out. His wake up game is about the best in the game. Even empty jumping is dangerous.

@Verify- I panicked lol. I realized that I messed up as soon as I let up off of my charge.

@xavior- I use a stick. I practiced knee shots for a long time in training room. It wasn’t that hard for me because I always played with Chun Li on previous SF games. Her head stump has always been an important part of my game. It’s basically the same motion

There may or may not be a video of my scrubby DJ getting stomped by Floe’s guy at MWC like a month after SSF4 dropped. I wouldn’t let skill determine whether or not you enter a tourney. If you want to play or see where you stack up, tourneys are good. They’re also lots of fun. If you’re not very good just don’t get salty when you lose.

sorry, double post :frowning:

Same here. Everytime. Now if I’m canceling the mp into a light sobat or an air slasher I’m dandy, but as soon as a super bar is on the line I always miss it lmao.

Afrocole has a good DJ. Nice mixups and links. The only thing I don’t like is some of his jumpins and I think he should have have gone for more untechable knockdowns against Cody.

Not bad.

Nothing from his game I could xcopy.

Smart use of Cr. Mp link because cody can’t mash. (Would hk ruffian be a good reversal?)

Did you hear the commentary?

At one point he said “I like Dee Jay’s dash foward a lot. I just saw how fast that shit was.” And I was like WHAT?

But good shit from Cole. I was missing MGUs in his combos however.

I was going to post about that but couldn’t be bothered. I was like “whaa?” The commentator obviously doesn’t know anything about the character. At one point he said something like “DJ’s slide is great at anti-air Honda”. Actualy it anti-air’s pretty much everyone but Honda. Honda can jump jab or whatever it is and stuff it everytime.

Just watched your matches. Much respect to your play there. It sucks your NA’s have to deal with sub-par connections sometimes. The good thing about living in places like Japan, Korea, UK is they’re like the size of a US state so your almost garanteed a almost perfect connection as long as the routers are set up alrite. Most of continental Europe wraps around the UK so from Spain to Sweden I can get good green bar connections which is very nice.

Got a small question though. A few times you got dizzy on someone and you did a jumpin HK, c.MP and then a c.HP. What’s the thinking behind that? Just looking for a counter to a crouch tech or something or was it just flumphed execution with the connection. I personaly go for jump HK, c.mp (or c.HP on bigger characters) xx MK Upkicks, MK upkicks.

i need to work on my xbox timing. everything i do on the PS3 is late compared to the Xbox. I know it sounds dumb to compare the 2 frames of input lag but when combined with online play i fumbled.

Side note: I fight all hakan’s as recklessly as i did in the stream. He’s short so no matter when i hit him with the cross up mk he’ll have enough stun for the jab.

Nahh, I totaly see a 2 frame difference messing you up.

vs. gief . I learned alot. I needed that match.

I finished fifth but I actually believe that I should have won that tourney. I need to apapt to the PS3 speed. It’s a big difference.

Awesome job unlocking a new taunt for Dee Jay.

Nice matches! I’m always too scared to use sobats against Zangief, but you clearly are far better at spacing them out than I am.

Anyone else get excited to hear distinctive Dee Jay Backdash “Hey”'s and Sobat noises on the NorCal stream then have their dreams crushed when the camera panned the room and we realise it’s just one of those bot matches that plays when the Title Screen is left idle for too long?
