haha! sick stuff Alioune… nice… i mean, “nice” -_-
Yeah, again, I didn’t play very well in that match Mind you, I THINK meaty GTs are actually pretty good pressure tools for Rose when she’s in the corner and DOESN’T have Ultra. I’ve been thrown out of a divekick, too, with EX Soulthrow, and you can see he tries to escape/counter with Ex Throw at one point, only to have it beat by the Tornado.
i’m online for some matches vs rufus… i play chun li. GT ludthinks

Man… Mago really likes using far standing HK as a poke. Gotta try using that more.
Evades lows, launches, positive frame advantage - what’s not to like? I love that shit. But uh… Mago rockin’ the Wufus? lmao gotta check this out.
Here’s some matches of mine from a team tournament event we have almost weekly.

Those are just some recent ones that I thought were good. Or maybe I’m biased because they are later in the season when I shaped up and started winning more. You can check out youtube.com/tournamentwars and search mechanica for all the matches.
Good shit, dude. One thing to remember about Seth is that his lightning legs is about as punishable on block as any shoryu. I’m fairly certain you get a free cl.fp->GT from any range closer than max, and may even be able to set up a super short divekick->whatever if he’s too far out.
Did I end up blocking a bullet kick? I don’t remember. I do know it’s punishable but I don’t catch myself blocking many rh bullet kicks to the face. Good to know, though.
thats my tourny match from last weekend. First real tourney was hell nervous didnt bust out many combos didnt trust lk hp enough yet. But anyone let me know what I need to work on.

You missed out on a lot of damage because your standard punish is grab. Against uppercut and hp thunder knuckle you can easily use HPXXtornado. You also went for target combo a couple of times when you were close to the corner. Less damage if it hits and if you connect the dive kick low enough HPXXtornado is pretty safe (since you don’t feel comfortable with lk, hp) and on block it’s even safer than the target combo (by 4 frames).
I have a couple of vids from a tourney about a month ago. I’d like some feedback, its mostly against boxer, who I feel is my hardest matchup by far.
Besides missing the ultras, I think Im going about it completely the wrong way, so if someone could give me some harsh criticism I’d appreciate it

Flip,
That Rog is pretty tough and it’s a tough match up as well. One of the most notable things I saw is poor decisions with ex messiahs. You woke up with it way too much, sometimes when he was quite a distance away. It seems like you tried to mash it out a few times to break up block strings and got baited too. Against a good player that just won’t fly. You have to be smart and creative with it. When I fight Rogs, a lot of them have a tendency to try and break up your offense with his cr.jab. Look for those places and ex messiah then.
Cross up more. Use a variety of jump ins. Your opponent got a good feel of when and where you were jumping and dive kicking quickly and made you pay for it. It seems like you fell into patterns that led to a lot of his damage. After a roll you’d mostly try to dive kick, after one or two jabs you’d try to dive kick. You’d mostly divekick too shallow and favor missing rather than too high (I hate that lame ass hitbox too) Sure things like a raw jumping mk or hp seem slow, but when you’ve been divekicking in his face for a while you’d be surprised how often things like that hit when you throw em a slowball.
Other than that, it’s hard to say. Nothing Rog specific I can think of other than learn to cross him up with jump mk, but I can’t really talk since I’m shit at that too.
Hmm, I think I’ll have to upload a video of me getting my ass kicked by a Sagat player.
New Rufus player here. Been playing him for about a day now and I played this one Sagat guy I know (who isn’t very good at the game) and I was getting my ass beaten so damn bad.
Knee and TU flat out beats dive kick, galatic and messiah. I couldn’t even get close. All he did was jump into the corner and spam fireballs. The second I got close, he’d TU or knee my ass. And when I finally got in and knocked him down. TU just beat out absolutely everything I had. He’d just mash TU on wakeup and beat whatever I had for him.
Again I’m still new to Rufus. I just sat in training mode and did his combos like cr.lp, st.lk, st.hk and things like st.hp galatic.
Problem for me is dive kick. I know it’s a really powerful tool, but I have trouble judging it correctly on where it’s going to hit on the opponents body. If I do it too high, they’ll block and I’ll eat a TU again.
I don’t know, I was getting my ass handed to me by pretty much a TU/knee/fireball spammer.
Nice vids, I needed some help vs gief. any other rufus vs gief videos you can recommend?
I really like your use of the roll that is one thing i need to add more into my game that move comes in handy.
Nothing comes to mind other than this website: http://streetfighterdojo.com/sf4/matchups/zangief_vs_rufus.html
In my opinion, if the Gief is good and knows the matchup there is very little you can do to win. You can’t divekick, ever. You can hardly ever jump. His s.mp beats EVERY. SINGLE. one of your pokes. You have to have meter to beat it (ex messiah) in my experience. Other wise he can just rape you with it.
Don’t sweep lariat ever. If he lariats, up close you get a far stand fierce, far away you can crouch fierce it as it’s recovering.
Green hand on block SHOULD be punished with target combo ultra, not throw like I did. I was just scared to have ultra mashed out on me and to mistime it.
Neutral jump hk used sparingly is decent in this matchup… paired with j.hp for more of an air to air… or if they’re really above you as you’re coming down you could maybe j.mp. Neutral jump mk can stuff lariat though I don’t really recommend all this neutral jumping on a decent gief, you’ll get headbutted and stunned for some painful ish.
If you’re in the corner and he does that PPP lariat trap where the startup hits you, then he steers it toward you for a second hit/frame trap kinda thing, you can ultra or ex messiah out. Don’t use normals.
Just try to out footsie him (good luck) and bait him into jumping so you can EX snake strike.
Definitely his hardest matchup IMO with Sagat in second.
