@CyborgRJ That combo at 1:19 was pretty slick.
Congrats on finishing third tho, even if the giefs were givin’ you grief.

i have quite a few matches on my channel of my rufus
got a little santana goin on in the background
Cyborg: Two suggestions for you. In the Ryu match up less dive kicks and more sweeps. Even though that Ryu wasn’t mashing out a DP, most of them will.
Hey guys
i just finished my new tutorial vid and uploaded it to youtube. hope you like it…

great video. I never knew I could punish blanka’s moves that way. I didnt know the usefulness of cr.mp til now.
^^ good video but you can actually hit ultra in corner off a forward dash just wait like a second then ultra
yea its usually character dependent though, if its a big character like sagat or gief you can forward dash, but characters like gen you will pass under. Also you only need to backdash if your EX messiah hits your opponent with his back almost against the wall, otherwise you can just forward dash.
oww thanks didnt know that
very nice totorial but i have always problems to do LK HP … not always link in combo >_<
nice vid man, I liked the char specific part, very well explained.
just a little comment, in the corner EX messiah FADC mp snake strike ultra, is indeed char specific but its much better if you use HP snake strike, it only misses on Sagat and Rose (use Mp snake against them) and does more DMG than using MP snake or backdash ultra (its also a bit harder on some chars)
but overall was a really excelent job
Somebody PM a mod to sticky this with the title
Watch this before you post in the Rufus forums.
Seriously.
yeah man I know what you mean…I created a QnA thread for nothing, people just open those random threads asking thins that have been answered like 1000 times already…
Great video. Only thing I’d add is that when blanka goes ultra from medium range (going for chip win or whatever) you can backdash ultra and catch him clean on the way down.
got a camera now so been uploading a few videos from online play.
me (Rufus) vs. violent v-ryu (Akuma) 8 matches.
Good matches, Louie. A few things I was wondering. Why so many EX GTs? It seems like you favored doing s.lk, s.lk, c.lp, ex gt over lk, hp, hp GT. I also saw a ton of single pokes, like c.lp and c.mk into EX GT. Were you one hit hit confirming those? It seems like it would be better to hang on to all that meter and wait for better situations.
Edit: In reference to the Akuma matches btw
Hey man… let me se if i can answer this as good as possible. first of, solo EX GTs are very good now and then, if ur opponent just let goes his block or try poking u’ll suck him in and get him, dont do them to close to him tho, its from a certain range you’re safe. as for all stuff you do, do them smart and not to often. if you noticed, i hit both the akuma/sagat with those now and then.
i bearly do one single cr.lp intp ex-gt, if im far away that a 2nd cr.lp wont connect and im “certain” that the cr.lp/ex-gt will hit i go for it. cr.lk into a ex-gt is better in some situations since the cr.lk hits low. and for the cr.mk>ex-gt is not a one hit confirm. i cant think of any situations i did that vs. the akuma except for the match where i had him in 1p corner, due to his health i was 100% he would try to tech the throw, so i walked up, baited throw walked back one step and took him with the cr.mk>ex-gt. i kinda knew ill land it in that situation he were in under all the circumstances.
EDIT:
the other cr.lp>ex-gt u might were talking about was when i missed the meaty df+mk(roll)>cr.lp>ex-gt combo or the lp-ss>cr.lp>ex-gt combo, and just the cr.lp>ex-gt was linked. i sometimes also do a cr.lp>ex-gt after the HK kick when close, ur +2 after the HK and ppl tend to always press something after blocked HK… sometimes doing the cr.lp>ex-gt is risky, but mix it up with different stuff
Oh, what the heck… It’s not a match I’m horribly proud of, but it IS the only match I know of that’s been posted online with me in it.
So here’s my not-great Rufus against Aquagen84 (Rose) on PSN. The video doesn’t show it, but the match suffered (on my end, at least) from bursts of lag, making it hard to react properly to some stuff. You’ll notice me missing not one, but TWO Ultra opportunities on a successful target combo at the end, plus one instance where I simply went for a throw instead of the HP-GT combo… Things were just jerky enough in spots that I had a hard time reacting to them, never mind that my execution in general is off lately
Excuses or no, it’s actually a pretty decent video to watch if you’re wondering about the Rose matchup. Aquagen knows his Rose, and has a direct counter for a lot of my mediocre Rufus tactics. Watch me EX Messiah as I think a Soul Spark is coming, only to be Soul Thrown right out of it. Or be slidekicked out of a Tornado, and then thrown. And stupidly forgetting all about her Ultra, and getting smacked right out of a meaty GT

Thanks for the info, Louie. I see what you mean about ex GT when your opponent is trying to push buttons. The benefits are especially huge in the corner too. I saw you get ultra off of it once or twice.
T20:
Wow @ getting Soul Thrown out of EX Messiah. That’s weird as hell. Meaty GTs seem like a pretty bad idea in general. Why not just dive kick or c.mk xx ex GT if you want to meaty? I think if you just kept EXMessiahing and toss in some EX GTs you’d have took him . Didn’t seem like he was a big fan of blocking.
