You mostly see Rufus players doing the same thing all the time, I like to see a big mixup game eg: alot of string combo’s an moves go into EX Tornado. Just keeps things interesting then Dive kick, low kick, HP xx Fierce GT all the time.

0:34 and 1:22: LK Messiah kick to counter wake up crouch short? Didn’t know that works that well since LK Messiah isn’t invulnerable on wake up and is only airborne on like frame 10 or something.
0:41: Dash forward X2> Throw as an oki after a tornado and the opponent quick recovers.
0:44: Safe jump set up after forward throw- roll> jump MK. Looks like it wasn’t timed perfectly (and would’ve been uppercutted if Sagat had attempted a wake up TU), but it the set up itself was enough to scare Sagat into not uppercutting on wake up.
0:34 and 1:22:
>>Sagat – watches EX Messiah Kick ,LP Snake Attack and delay attacked LPorLK.
>>Rufus – LK Messiah kick wins delay attacked LPorLK.(but LK Messiah Kick is only airborne on like some frames.)
0:44:
>>Rufus Player – forward and something walk after jump MK is not hit Syoruken and Tiger Upper Cut.(Riversal Tiger Upper Cut goes out oppositely.)
you have good ideas there and generally played very safe and didnt rush recklessly (most people try doing that and die). Use more FA against cammy also dont jump at her when shes doing nothing, youre begging her to anti air you. Try learning the lk, hp xx hp tornado because its pretty useful after high divekicks. Try pressuring a bit more, like using light attacks or cr.lk xx lp tornado, just safe pressure. Once you get them to block you, you can add some mixups there like divekicks or overhead or just throw. and 1 more thing, when cammy whiffs cannon spike use cr.HP because is kinda difficult to get there and try to get a combo.
In general pretty nice, I hope you keep posting your vids
Since I’ve actually played Itazan before, all I can say is, this match is nothing short of amazing.
Points of interest:
0:26- Crouch Fierce is actually a pretty risky move against Zangief, because if he focus dashes through it, he can sweep you to punish, and start a wake up game loop. Still worth the risk if Zangief is walking forward though, like in this instance.
0:30- Gief’s early jump forward beats Rufus’s stand fierce. Crouch strong has an easier time beating jump forward, but has shorter horizontal range and a lot more likely to miss if Zangief short jumps. Its one of those guesses that Gief can force Rufus to make that he has no easy answers to when he doesn’t have meter.
0:36- Crossup dive kick to get out of the corner. Good stuff.
0:39- Light kick> Jump forward to bait a reversal Ultra. Kirisuto is HELLA lucky that Itazan didn’t go with a Lariat instead since that would’ve lead to a knockdown. (Itazan will mash Lariat when he wants a Lariat to come out… and according to him Mago will mash a Tiger uppercut too)
**
0:52 to 0:54- This is the most important thing that Kirisuto does in this match up. Kirisuto does not do quick wake ups after getting knocked down by Lariat. This throws off Itazan’s wake up game just enough that he gets to escape with just one jump splash’s worth of damage.**
1:37 and 1:46- Throwing works very well against Zangief since it beats both Lariats and Ex Green Hand.
1:49- A wake up lariat by Itazan would’ve beaten the cross up MK for free (and led to painful wake up games), But Kirisuto does this one only after having dive kicked a lot from that angle (which would’ve had a good chance of beating the lariat), making Itazan second guess himself. Call it randomness or mix ups, but Kirisuto’s play style really pays off here.
No, it matters, because it determines the effectiveness of a divekick (whiff) > throw and divekick (hit) > combo mix-up that Rufus can use on Gief on wake up.
According to Ultradavid, the unthrowable lariats that you are talking about will get beaten by meaty moves… because they aren’t really unthrowable lariats… they’re just lariats which cancel the pre-jump frames. There’s an IMPORTANT AND DISTINCT DIFFERENCE, because Rufus can delay his dive kick timing to actually dive kick the guy instead of baiting him with dive kick (whiffed) > throw if he anticipates an “unthrowable lariat”
If it was possible to truly make lariats and Ex Hands throw invulnerable (ala Roll Cancelling), then using throws against Zangief would be useless. As it is, its an important (and one of the few real mix ups) that Rufus can use against Geif in offence… which is exactly what Kirisuto does.
Was able to record a match today, my Rufus has improved since my last vid.
PLEASE give advice, feel like I can play 10x better just need the knowledge.
