WTF? Let me break down the the next 6 seconds after 2:13…
2:13 - Rufus wakes from being thrown, into a sitting duck (no tech, which would have scored a hit); while ducking, is too far away from Ken, who whiffs a wakeup grab; Rufus does a useless short back jump dive kick which doesn’t hit, while ken whiffs a cr.lk which would have whiffed anyway, even if Ru hadn’t back divekicked; upon landing, hits a random cr.lk on Ken, but no combo; a forward short dive kick, which whiffs; followed by a grab. Yay, he got a forward grab. Then dashes forward, a slight step forward, followed by a jump forward, lands right in front of ken, who, doesn’t do anything on wakeup. Rufus did no attack on jump in, and upon landing, SITS the hell DOWN and does NOTHING. Ken takes half a step back, then NAILS a fat, sitting Rufus with a flaming a hp.DP.
Just WTF, may I ask, do you see in this other than complete slop? Someone explain this to me, please…
I wouldn’t be so sure if the whiffed ken lk would’ve whiffed in other case. I also don’t know how much you can do with hitting a cr. lk that far if it still combos into lk tornado or if you can reliably link normals like he does later in the round. A dive kick thats that close and ambiguous to whether its going to whiff or hit is very dangerous.
I mean, I guess my point isn’t to be “OMG, this segment doesn’t have perfect play” or anything like that. Hell, I’m in not really in any position to be on high horses as far as calling out sloppyness, I was just trying to figure out what exactly happened at 2:13 that prompted Latino Kourck too say
because I don’t see anything special or noteworthy about this segment, other than your normal random poke battle ending in a grab knockdown, and then a flaming DP to the face that probably shouldn’t have happened. I don’t think Latino wants to “bust out” getting hit in the face, amIright?
lol Just looked like a baited dive kick but the ken player didn’t do anything and I have no idea why rufus took that fierce Shoyuken. It didn’t show a counter hit so I guess he just wasn’t holding block rofl.
Well, I read your paragraph about that and realized I should look at the video again to refresh my memory, and lo and behold, nothing cool happened at that timestamp; it was a while ago but I’m going to guess I had opened multiple videos and replied about something happening in a different one. Cause no, I don’t want to take FP shoryukens to the face. Duh.
Yeah. Its slow. It still does have its uses though. I’ve been sorely underusing it, but I think at higher level play where you will need a strong footsies game to complement your rushdown, it will be indispensable.
Its tied with far s.MK for his longest range ground normal.
You can safe jump the opponent after it.
Those two facts alone mean that it’s at least worth using to punish whiffed moves at distances where they can’t be punished with anything else except far MK.

It shouldn’t be overused, but I think its in indispensable part of his ground game. When you’re not able to (or don’t want to close distance), crouch FP and crouch MP/stand HP help you control the match up. Crouch FP makes your opponent afraid to walk forward or just do stupid shit inside its range.
Personally, when the situation calls for it (e.g., need to reverse through a blockstring, or countering an uppercut after dive kicking in), I will shamelessly mash on my Ex Messiah Kicks. Nothing sucks worse than losing a match to a tick-throw set up, interruptable block string, or uppercut that you tried to Ex Messiah through.
LOL! DSP doesn’t even know how to do the cl. hp xx hp tornado and he failed the j. hk -> EX snake stirke like 5 times in a row or something. Hmm, I bet he knows how to do it by now though, but that was pretty funny to watch from such a huge complainer. But yeah, at least good job to him for putting the time and effort to make a tutorial.

I think the video is a joke to purposely make people worse or something. DSP makes these videos and then laughs his ass off at people actually taking it seriously. That is honestly the only conclusion I can possibly come to after watching that video.
Watching that video, It reminded me that Rufus had a super… Which is never used anyways, i swear the only time i used that super was when i perfected someone on the 2nd round, opponent was stunned, and i had a full meter, and i just needed a s.FP to win the match, but instead i super’d.
