One small thing - after you land a throw, you should dash forwards twice instead of rolling. It’s faster and it puts you in the right position to jump forwards and land a crossup as they get up.
Aside from that, you’re at least as good as me so there’s not much advice I can give.
The unthrowable special trick works with any command move, including green hands or whatever else. It’s just that it’s really easy with the lariat because the lariat doesn’t require directional inputs, so it’s just up and then lariat. To work with something like green hand that has a dragon punch motion, you have to sneak the up input in by doing something like toward, down, down-toward, toward, up-toward + p.
And it might actually be that the move doesn’t hit while it’s unthrowable too, it might be that canceling into the command move immediately ends the unthrowability portion. Basically it might be that instead of really being an unthrowable special, it’s more like you’re unthrowable and then you do a special move. Gonna take some more testing to find out for sure.
That’s the impression I got of how it works from your Flowchart thread.
But its pretty hard to test, because even if it a “true unthrowable special” Zangief would still at least have 1 frame of vulnerability before the pre-jump frames get cancelled. so you can’t test this using meaty move, but with moves that hit 1-2 frames after Gief wakes up, which is impossible just using training mode alone =\
When the Rufus does the Dive kicks. Wouldn’t a crouching lariat beat those easy. or trade and go into Ex green hands.
In the video I saw the Rufus use more offense then i feel comfortable uing agaisnt Zangief. I really hate this match upo and would like to know what I am missing. Ultra david any word from a Gief specilist would be great =)
Which is why you mix up between dive kick (whiff)> Throw and Dive kick (meaty)> combo
If you think he’s going to lariat, you do the dive kick early, and it whiffs. Then you throw just as he hits lariat/green hand, and you throw him out of the start up frames of either move.
If you think he’s going to SPD or block, just go for the block string/combo for pressure. Rufus needs to apply some pressure in this match up because you need meter for Ex Snake Strikes and Messiahs.
And yes, Kirisuto’s videos all show more offense than I’m comfortable with, and lot of the things he does look hideously unsafe on video. He is a top player though, so he’s definately doing something right. Rather than assume than he lucked out, it make sense to assume that he’s knows what he’s doing and learn from it.
The match with Dhalsim was pretty interesting - divekick, target combo in corner, to divekick reset. To more divekick pressure. LOL. Reminds me of why I quit playing Dhalsim.
Man. Looking at these videos reminds me why online is such a disadvantage to Rufus. Even with good connections, things move just a teensy bit slower, and that makes things easier for shotos.
That said, I think the lower framerate in these videos makes it appear that moves are coming out faster, too. Hmm.
