Really interesting how he played the match, alot of roll’s, pokes & throws.
Didn’t anyone would use the roll that much but it looked quite effective baited a few times.

Mm, likely, I totally forgot about their wall jumps. I’ll try it eventually. Thanks for reminding me.
Also, it doesn’t work with C. Viper’s High Jump, it’s not high enough.

Dive kick hitting Akuma’s Ultra at start up is weeeeird in the 3rd round (1:30). I’ve never seen that happen before. It looks like the dive kick hits, I see the connection “explosion” animation, but it doesn’t look like Akuma takes any damage, and he’s able to Ultra…
edit oh wait, I guess that connect animation is Akuma throwing out a jab which resets Rufus out of dive. That looked really weird though…
The Ryu match shows a great little tactic, he focuses through one fireball then EX Messiah’s through the second. Very nice.
Vs. Akuma he makes sure he has just enough Ultra to finish him, then baits a fireball for regular Messiah FADC Ultra. Very smart.
Vs. Sagat, I didn’t know crossup MK was so effective.
Now I know what is missing from my vs. Shoto game. You absolutely need to know how to use these specific tactics to win these matchups vs. strong players. Great video to watch especially for those who have trouble with the 3 good shotos.
Kindevu match vs. Sagat… has anyone else tested the effectiveness of the crossup mk? Or is it just because of Sagat’s hitbox that makes it a little more useful in that situation.

It’s not very good for throwing off uppercut tracking. Also, you don’t want to do it on reaction to a quickstand because you’ll probably get reversaled before making it over the top. I recommend just anticipating the quickstand and if he doesn’t, you can take a small step back (similar to punishing a Blanka Ball) and try a second jump. The most consistent time I’ve found is like in the video: forward throw, f. dash x2, crossup. LK followup to messiah kicks leave you at good range, but you have to deal with his wake up timing.
