Gen Shenanigans Thread!

Legendary Kiryu, forgive my statement for lacking articulation…It must have been a bad day that I wrote that.

Yeb is a very strong player, and I only found out about the stance parry from his videos that were posted rather early on during vanilla. That said, he is not the defining example of this technique.
I am positive he can do the stance change from point blank with minimal errors, but that doesn’t make the technique any more valid or practical.

Then again…this IS the shenanigans thread…

Gen’s Parry, is really useful in terms of possibilities, i think it’s really important to just know how and when to use it. For example, lets say you’re playing Balrog up close, and he does what balrog’s do: cr.lp/st.lp, cr.hk to keep you from trying to walk forward or backward. you predict it, and then you stance parry his cr.hk, this gives you 22-23f of time to do whatever assuming he doesn’t have two bars to FADC backdash and even then you still recover first. that’s enough time to land st.hp, st.mk target combo into lk gekiro to cross-up oga.

Being able to focus and recover in 5f versus 15-20f is hella useful if you know when and how to use it…in theory.

“in theory.”

Follow-up trick after Oga, Crane s.Round House. Or Mantis Super, Crane s.Round House. After the s.Round House. do a Crane c.Jab, then Overhead. Changes it up from doing the standard Overhead after s.Round House. If you time it right. c.Jab will whiff, and over head will catch them off guard.

Something I posted in the local thread. I believe this can be used twice in a match (first to train the opponent, second to make him realize what it is), then it’ll not be used I believe.

If this is already discovered then I apologize.

I love doing that.

So if you master this technique.

You have just landed a forward throw. An option is to go for an oga, the plan is to come straight down on your opponent the moment he is able to be hit. The benefit of this is that you can control which way he must block. Making the oga hit at the moment they wake up (below the knees) will force them to block to the right. Typically coming from that angle means you block to the left, but if you’re good at landing this technique it is almost guaranteed that they will block to the left and you will hit from the right.

Does the neutral drop oga take the same amount of time to reach the corner if you go either left or right? Seems like if they are in the left corner, going to the left first and then coming down, would take less time than going all the way across the screen to the right, then dropping down. thus this makes the timing of the two, the moment of impact, different.

Or, do they both land at the same time? Does the strength of the oga effect the timing?

One more thing, which side and strength is the seth setup =D tyty

Does it matter how much you let them fall after the mantis super? or do you hit it asap.

@azndude108

It does take less time if you go to the side you are closer to. At least it looks like that to me.

Against Seth, do back wall MK/HK Oga ceiling. Meaty it so that you are hitting his feet. Seth can block it if you do it too late.

u know what i wanna c if some1 do crlk any stlp/crlp+crlp-fadc-repeatx2 time end with geiko or fadc with roll it be so awersome to c and 3 hit frm lk lplp do 16more dmg then stmp and maybe oga cross up to ultra or somtime

Damn you are cr4azy lol

If it doesn’t skip automatically it’s the combo at 2m06s

I went ahead and did the leg work as Hoigek only tested with Gouken. I didn’t do anything fancy other than what you see there. If you want to test another Tiger Knee way to see if it will cross up on other characters feel free.

hmm, that is one long setup bro.

Meaty cr.mk (crane) fadc. You either CH the cr.mk and charge the fadc for a CH or a level 3 crumple, or you are blocked on cr.mk, so you cr.mk>tap fadc, and dash in at even frames.

I did this to a cammy and her dp whiffed a few times, and i crumpled a blanka with this, expensive mixup but its free damage if they never wake up and block.

Oga cross-ups after HK gekiro (untechable):

Ofcourse there are only a few characters who you can combo into hk gekiro with Gens bnb, but these are also very effective after doing super> HK gekiro if the ultra would not finish them off, of if you don’t have ultra. All were tested thoroughly with Gen being recorded and me blocking. All setups were done with combo into super> hk gekiro, unless noted otherwise. These obviously only work midscreen. The vast majority of these are really easy to pull of aswell, just make sure to time the oga well as they stand up. A few others I did not include in this list due to the fact they were very unreliable and I would not risk it. Enjoy!

High = as much above gen during Gekiro as possible
Medium = same height as Gen during Gekiro approx.
Low = below Gen during Gekiro

**Yun: **LK oga (juggle medium, has to be exactly the same height as Gen during juggle)
**Yang: **LK oga (juggle medium, has to be exactly the same height as Gen during juggle)
**Ryu: **LK oga (juggle medium)
**Seth: **MK oga, can also be comboed into hk gekiro with bnb (juggle high)
**Sagat: **MK oga, can also be comboed into hk gekiro with bnb (juggle high)
**Ken: **LK oga (juggle medium)
**Chunli: **LK oga (juggle medium/high)
**E.Ryu: **LK oga (juggle medium)
**Blanka: **LK oga (juggle high)
**Dhalsim: **LK oga (juggle medium, it looks rather weird but Sim has to be almost inside of Gens legs)
**Rufus: **MK oga (juggle low as possible)
**Makoto: **LK oga (juggle high)
**El Fuerte: **LK oga (juggle medium/low)
**Fei long: **LK oga (juggle medium/high)
**Gouken: **LK oga (juggle high)
**Akuma: **LK oga (juggle medium/high)
**Sakura: **LK oga (juggle high)
**Oni: **LK oga )juggle high)
**T.Hawk: **MK oga, can also be comboed into hk gekiro with bnb (juggle high)
Hakan: LK oga (juggle high)
Guy: MK oga (juggle low)
Cody: LK oga, can also be comboed into hk gekiro with bnb (juggle medium)
Cammy: LK oga (juggle medium, her head on the same height as Gens)
Rose: MK oga (juggle high, her head has to be fully above Gens during juggle)

awesome

Added Yun, Yang, and Guy to the list after testing some more, I think these are all that work. Did a few of these online yesterday and they work great, so much damage when it works.

Thanks for sharing. much appreciated

So here’s something funny, although this is a pure shenanigan in every sense of the word:

fw.throw> lk oga(close wall whiff)> HP super

The super will cross up and most characters are forced to block since they cannot reversal fast enough since they’ll still be in their stand up animation, except srk (3 frame). I only tested this on Ryu, Ken, Chunli, Guile, and Cody so far, but it should work on a lot more. Pretty easy, just gotta do the lk oga as fast as possible after throw and then just do the super et voila, c’est un cross-up! Just to be clear the oga needs to be done to the wall Gen is standing next to, no cross-oga!

EDIT: found a vid of the cross-up, check it at 2:30
