Gen Shenanigans Thread!

Started playing sf4 again so i thought i would add something since i take lots of info from here.
Not sure if it has been posted but there is an unblockable that seems to only work on ibuki in the corner,
Gekiro in corner finished, whiff crane jab for timing, med oga to the wall behind him ceiling drop, tho you can do it to fast so i dont know the exact timing, its not hard tho.
also this is with no quickstand, but with the buffs coming i thought it might be useful against her, i was trying other setups with ceiling drop oga hitting deep on wakeup but this is all i could find, i thought the same setup worked against makoto but with heavy oga but i could not reproduce it so i was probably wrong. xbl lillewis24 if anyone wants to run matches, with gears and sf3 out i have gotten pretty bad. forgot to ask if anyone ever messed with ceiling oga on wake where you have to block on the opposite side that he seems to hit you on

went back to training you can do the same to makoto but with heavy oga, ibuki can ultra 2 and hit

Good information. It also works with LK Oga to the corner wall. There’s also a setup against Guy with MK/HK Oga to the corner wall, and Seth with MK/HK Oga to the wall behind. Works with any face-up knockdown to the very end of the corner, but eyeballing for a not-too-deep meaty is required.

Yea i was trying those out too, but the only characters i could get the LK Oga using the corner wall to work on were Akuma and Gen. i also think its funny that some characters have to block in the different directions with the setup.

Hi, i did a ©c.lk -> mantis super -> reset with (m) c.lp -> mantis u1 on a ryu today and it worked but the ryu told me “how? i mashed the DP” so Ryu can’t mash the DP in it or is it just the lag of the live? or did any other stuffs happened?

if he mashed the light shoryuken or the fierce shoryuken you are more likely to hit him (if it was a reversal) due to the only 2 frame invincibilty making it to trade most of the time, but if he used a mp shoryuken on you, your ultra will either wiff or get blown. ex too

I’ve hit people doing DPs with my ultra on reaction. They did a DP on my wake up trying to FADC and I did an ultra on reaction and it beat them. EX not to lucky. But it was non-ex not sure which version.

Also if he was mashing really hard it probably fucked his ability to auto correct. I’ve had that happen when I was trying to get a auto correct EX Gekiro. So I stopped pressing buttons and only did the direction up until I want it to come out.

Or he probably mashed it so he was at the point of inputting the direction and hadn’t hit punches at the right moment.

Can somebody explain the stance change focus? What are the inputs and stuff?

While in mantis stance, plink MP+MK into LK+MK+HK. While in crane, plink MP+MK into LP+MP+HP.

As far as this being in AE, I really have no idea, but I doubt they took it out. It was never specifically explained in a patch note, so it’s doubtful it would be removed.

Just started playing Gen. Is his stance change focus viable?? I’ve noticed that you can’t cancel the stance change into a normal when going from crane to mantis but you can when going from mantis to crane. I thought they removed the “parry” since vanilla. Lay you Gen knowledge on me Gen Forum.

The stance parry is still in the game. It isn’t that hard to do technically speaking, and I don’t use any macros.

You don’t see it as often because the risk vs reward is rather low. The cancel must be executed at the moment their attack connects, parrying fireballs is simple enough, but an easier and more consistent punish would be jumping on reaction. Making the most out of this technique requires you to anticipate an opponents jump in or poke…Application shows that unless you are gdlk, blocking is a much more consistent option.

This statement is hard to figure out. Meaning do you mean how often someone with terrible execution would miss the stance change? Or if you are able to land it all the time, the reward isn’t that great? Cuz if you can hit it as often as Yeb can, the reward is outstanding. All you have to do is hold up while you are in the stance change animation. Then you have a free jump in. I’m sure if you do it from full screen isn’t the best, but if you are midscreen and they are playing footsies with the fireball like Valle does, then this would be a great tool to learn. I don’t bother with it, because I only use 6 button.

Awesome List Warlike. Hope you don’t mind If I add all of it to mine so it can all be in one place. One note though, I am having a hard time undertanding how to pull of the NO QUICKSTAND options on your list. After they drop… do you do some padding (like c. HK) or do you just wait and time it right?

You are correct. I usually whiff a c.RK © if I think the opponent starts avoiding the quickstand to escape the cross up. I believe street11 covered this in one of his posts.

I feel the same way. HK Gekiro will be untechable soon and there’s probably a rhythm for that unblockable timing as well.
Gen will be amazing and with this he will have some bad matchups swapped around instantly. It’s a shenanigan, but a fearsome one.

Has anyone tried dropping the last hit to the Gekiro then pushing their opponent into the corner? I just did that vs a Guile and s.MP pressured him all day until I figured he would flash kick, then punished that. Might want to give it a try sometime. It really only works if they don’t tech.

do anything to super eg tc2hand super +crane sthk +st mp or hp kara grab oga cross up to ultra u might need walk forward abit for oga cross up ithink overhead beat dp if time right frm wake up

if u hit then high with crane sthk then use mp or hp overhead kara throw it beat dp but be careful u do it late u will eat dp after that u could do oga cross up or lproll safe mk cross up
