Gen Shenanigans Thread!

That’s a lot of unblockables man amazing job, added. Akuma doesn’t need to be at the absolute highest but I figured I’d just say high and Cammy just needs to be hit low with the last two hits , but they are indeed very lenient. I will probably get back to the lab to check out for tech setups later. I also managed to do my first unblockable setup in game against a Viper, it was epic.

It seems the only ones I cannot reliably cross-up are Abel, Dhalsim, and Sagat.

@azndude

If you do MK it will not be a unblockable, other than that they can both work.

I see, the LK oga wasnt working for me. Any tips to “juggle high” gekiro?

juggle high gekiro means a faster rhythm gekiro, instead of 1…2…3…4…5 you go 1…2…3.4.5 because each kick launches the opponent a bit higer, the closer the kicks the higher they rise.

Hope this helps.

also keep in mind that even tho these are unblockable, they dont hit meaty on quickstand. they can be jumped out of

i’ll cross my fingers for hard KD on lk giekro

That’s why the setup bnb post-2012 will be cr.lk xx cr.lp, st.hp xx HK gekiro. Works on every standing character except sakura, cody, hakan, guile, gief, fuerte, dee jay, rose and the twins without a jump. In other words, unblockables retain their setups except gief(replacing st.HP with st.MK works), tho height might b different. And they are loopable if they dont do reversals with Oga, HK gekiro rinse and repeat. It will also be much more important to memorize characters on whom TC2 xx HK gekiro works. Luckily Gief is one of them.

I still have problems with akuma and cammy :frowning:

EDIT:
=TC2 xx HK gekiro=
Gief: MK Oga - juggle med-high gekiro (unblockable if your finishing kick is kicking his elbow or a bit above. Timing is pretty lenient)
Guy: MK Oga - juggle low gekiro (unblockable if your finishing kick overlaps with his face. Same height as LK gekiro)
T.Hawk: LK Oga - juggle high gekiro (unblockable, same as LK gekiro, launch him high up to the sky)

=raw st.HP xx HK gekiro= (Cannot do 1f links since I suck in keyboard. Hopefully timing is the same)
Rufus: no unblockable setup, LK Oga - juggle med-high gekiro for cross-up.
Juri: LK Oga - juggle low-med gekiro (unblockable if only the lower half of her face + neck overlaps with your kicking leg. Her upper half of the face is still visible)
Ibuki: Same as TC2 LK Gek. I’m getting lazy here.
Makoto: LK Oga - juggle low-med gekiro (unblockable if only the lower half of her face + neck overlaps with your kicking leg. Her upper half of the face is still visible)
Dudley: LK Oga - juggle med-high gekiro (unblockable if you kick his ass)
Viper: LK Oga - juggle wherever you damn want gekiro (unblockable. Lenient. Just kick anywhere between her neck and the midsection)

Labwork round 2: Oga cross-up after TC2 > lk gekiro with quickstand

Alright, here’s what I’ve got so far using the same TC2 combos into lk gekiro but now teching the knockdown. Yeb was right when he suspected that some characters could be interchanged with lk/mk oga. The list below is accurate enough to be used in matches assuming you do them correctly.

**C.viper: **MK oga - juggle high gekiro (highest possible)
**Yang: **MK oga - juggle medium/low gekiro (gens feet hit his face)
**Chunli: **MK oga - juggle medium/low gekiro (gens feet hit her face)
**Bison: **MK oga - juggle high gekiro
**Fei Long: **MK oga - juggle medium gekiro
**Makoto: **MK oga - juggle low gekiro (as low as possible)
**Ibuki: **MK oga - juggle low gekiro
**El Fuerte: **MK oga - juggle high gekiro
**Sakura: **MK oga - juggle low gekiro
**Guy: **MK oga - juggle high gekiro (highest possible)
**Adon: **MK oga - juggle high gekiro (highest possible)
**Dudley: **MK oga - juggle high gekiro (highest possible)
**Hakan: **MK oga - juggle high gekiro
**Dan: **MK oga - juggle high gekiro
**Juri: **MK oga - juggle high gekiro
**Honda: **MK oga - juggle medium/high gekiro (his face is slightly above Gens)

I haven’t tested other characters much, help is apreciated.

oh, how silly of me to forget my bnb from super already.lol guess my mind is trying to delete that version of gen

in other developments, using you guys’ high/low/mid juggle logic, 4 hit giekro juggled high is the safe jump against quick rise on 5 frame reversals

Ryu, Ken, Cody was possible with MK Oga juggling as high as possible. And I’m not kidding when I’m saying as high as possible.

As an added benefit the TC2 lk gekiro oga cross-ups that work with quickstand are a lot less strict timing-wise it seems. Good stuff guys.

EDIT: I tried Ryu briefly and it didn’t work, going to try it again now haha. This is a pretty big discovery, well not so much ‘discovery’ as most of us knew gekiro can determine character placement and such, but the fact our bnb(s) set up these things in both techable and non tech situations is pretty sick.

edit2: it doesnt seem to work with Ryu I can block any of the oga versions after doing it really high with gekiro.

When you try the setup against Ryu or Ken, time it so that on the final kick his ankle is slightly above your head.

It doesn’t seem very reliable, I can’t get it and I do it really high yet it never crosses up, not even close.

Hmm. I’m going to make a rough guess that you’re walking forward for a frame, cuz if you do, it’s not a cross-up (not even 1 frame). I’ll first proceed with the other setups, and come back to this later.

I’m doing :d: > :uf: so unless I do it subconsiously…This bothers me because Ryu and Ken are important characters to cross up damnit lol.

Try :d:>:u:+:mk:>:uf: like I mentioned before. Cuz with a stick or a pad it’s almost impossible to go :uf: from :d: directly.

I always use :db::uf: when I don’t want to walk, and for quick rise setups you could also just hold up-forward and mash kick as you recover. I can hit Ryu/Ken pretty easily, but this might even depend on your rhythm for the Gekiro. I can get most characters high enough that the last kick actually whiffs, so hitting their feet or heels is simple. Akuma’s extremely difficult, but it’s possible against him too.

Cammy’s easy with a quick rise if you do TC2 xx HK Gekiro. HK Gekiro increases the distance on the ground, so it can make things easier if you’re having trouble getting someone high enough.

I disagree on the 2012 hit confirm though. I really don’t trust the hitbox on HK Gekiro enough to use anything that will increase the spacing, and there won’t be time to hit confirm after the 1f link either. I’ll probably just use s.HP xx HK Gekiro for punishes and crossups, and s.MP, s.HP xx HK Gekiro for bigger combo opportunities. The damage between those combos and (s.MP,) TC2 xx LK Gekiro is almost identical too.

On a side note, for any non-quick rise or hard knockdown setup, you should have tons of time for walking or anything else to adjust your spacing. You should even be able to do Crane c.HK, the knockdown’s longer than a forward throw, iirc.

Alright it worked once, but it still seems really hard to pull of consistently though. For lulz try MK oga after a high juggle on Rufus, Gen crosses him up but you can actually block it normally as a non-crossup and if you try to block it as a cross-up it hits, lolwut.

I wish I can do all these things you guys speak off.

I find 2012’s HK Gekiro buff difficult to let go. Hard knockdown can lead to lots of things, not to mention 10 extra meter he’ll build. Most likely I’ll use either TC2 xx LK Gekiro or st.HP xx HK Gekiro follow-up, after a cr.LK xx cr.LP, depending on characters.

The reason Rufus works like that (and that unblockable) is because his block motion moves his hurtbox by a bit. Same goes with most characters with unblockables (T.Hawk, his hurtbox seems to shrink when he is in blocking position) with the personal confusion of Zangief.

EDIT: Unrelated, but I saw one of the articles’ title as “Ono Compares Gen Mode to Collectible Cards”

I’m gonna take a break, then continue this after school.

Fixing the HK so it combos after TC2 no matter who it’s vs would be the best buff. I’d take that over the EX roll changes.

Okay so I’ve not been able to hit that **Back Throw, Dash x1, Mantis Ultra 1 **on Hakan in either corner. So I’m going to test every single character to make sure you aren’t wasting your Ultra like I just did in a match. Stay tuned for list.
