GantZ: The 2nd Phase

No way.

He’s alright. He’s just. Kind of a bitch.

He’s crafty I’ll give him that.

Still would take Kei, Izumi, Gantz Sniper, probably even Muscle Rider, and the Psychic before I would take Katou.

On pure physical attributes he’s up there with Izumi in terms of Athletic Ability. It’s almost like he has no drive though. I kind of admire him when he’s willing to sacrifice himself.

He’s a good friend basically. As a fighter, unless he is angry or fighting for something, most of the time he comes up severely short.

Really? You would really take Kei over him? I absolutely couldn’t stand the shitstick. But I am obviously not up to the current arc so who knows, mebbe I’ll hate Katou in a week’s time.

YES

I would take Kei over Katou in a millisecond.

That’s post Buddha arc Kei though. Buddha arc and Pre Buddha arc Kei was an ass. I mean who could blame him for acting like an ass? Katou got that fool killed. Trying to save a homeless drunk.

And since naturally girls gravitated to who they thought to be more attractive this made Kei even more (K RAGE) Angry. So now he had to prove to everybody else that they were on crack for thinking that Katou was the superior fighter.

But the plus with Post Buddha arc Kei, at least he might care for your well being a little bit more.

who’s still alive? until he’s dead for good, Nishi is winning. sorry he doesn’t do enough flip kicks and ‘anime cool guy poses’ for you to not think he’s a scrub.

you guys are too caught up in the whole ‘KILL THE ALIENS! GET 100 POINTS ASAP’ aspect. it’s probably why you guys are so pissed off at this story arc. fools aren’t getting their points fast enough and y’all are getting antsy:rofl: why even kill the aliens? Aliens aren’t doing shit to anybody until Gantz sends a team out to kill them (currently). don’t forget Gantz is the villian.

Nishi’s strats are pro- you guys just don’t see it. the *battle *may be between ‘Player’ vs. ‘Alien,’ but the *WAR *is between ‘Player’ vs. Gantz. Nishi’s fighting the war and winning. currently, fighting like a bitch is a top tier strat. why? because Gantz fucks with ‘heroes’ for his enjoyment. Nishi is doing the bare minimum in the battles to get to the next round, not impressing Gantz; all the while using that time in between battles to gain information (not to mention making Gantz public by bending the ‘rules’- what other character is doing that? none. they’re too busy doing push ups for the next battle.). after they fought Oni and almost everybody got 100 points, how did he get revived over all those other people- many of which would be better suited to fight against the aliens? duh- he knows shit that’s important to their survival, and because of that, he’s gonna get revived no matter how much of an ass he is. leverage, guys. Nishi = top tier.

(of course until Oku fucks up again)

Their survival? Nishi doesn’t share any of his info. What good is all that knowledge if he doesn’t let anyone in on it? He got himself killed already, the only person who gave a shit about his info is also dead and their best fighter is dead because Nishi ran off instead of backing him up. So now what? Two of their best fighters are dead (which only makes it harder for him to survive) and if he dies again, nobody’s going to give enough of a shit to revive him a second time.

This is not a top tier strat

Having an arm ripped off/disintegrated, being on the verge of dying, and needing someone to drag you off the battlefield does not constitute winning.

Not dying is winning, imo.

I’d say so too.

However, I just don’t think that Nishi himself contributes to the winning process.

why should Nishi share his info with the team? players are brought into the room from random areas. they aren’t friends and many of the people are complete dipshits. there’s a better chance he’d end up dead from one of them than on a mission. it’s not his fault they are too busy learning how to fight like badasses than learning more about Gantz itself. his blog is out there. the people on the team that have accessed it should be the people he should give a shit about.

@ maelstrom218: kane_warhead said exactly what i was getting at. that’s why i (jokingly) linked you to Sirlin’s article. it’s like you want him to look cool while winning- do the big flashy combo; get a perfect- and you’re pissed he’s not running around like Kurono 2.0. it doesn’t matter if a player takes damage during the battle- if they survive, they win even if they get 0 points. plain and simple.

@ Darkstalker: yeah Nishi doesn’t contribute that much to the actual battles, but just remember what he’s doing IRL which is pretty important.

Well, that’s the leverage you were talking about isn’t it? He can’t hold over anyone’s head if he doesn’t talk.

There’s actually maybe 5 or 6 people I would share the info with if I were Nishi

Kei
Katou
The Psychic’s x2
Muscle Rider
Gramps
The Model Chick

Everybody else, hell to the motherfucking no or he doesn’t know well enough to actually share imporant information with. Which are a lot of hell no’s. Even Izumi though he is one of the best fighters, is a snake.

Let’s just disassociate ourselves from being readers and actually try to think like Nishi.

He doesn’t know anyone about anything. Pretty much Izumi is the only guy, who Nishi thinks would be good to relate info… But we all know that if he’s not involved, he’s not gonna get involved.

Haven’t kept up with this in ages. Anyone pick(ing) up the U.S. release?

This is one of those where I’m thinking about picking up both versions(still need to get caught up the Jap. tanks).

I envy your luck. this story has dragged on like the freiza saga, only somehow even MORESO.I’d say give it about another month and then grab it all at once. if you’re brave, then go forward, but do not do so if you doubt your valor or your courage. One thing about this series I can’t doubt on is the artwork. Top Tier all the way. I could swear I almost recognize some of those buildings in the background when they hit the Tokyo and harajuku areas in some of the earlier issues.

-Starhammer-

Buying the manga itself would force me to justify the purchase by completing it which would then unfortunately force me to buy all 39483948230480 volumes of the current arc we all love to loathe, so no.

There is no way in hell I am buying this manga.

hate hate!

Im always curious(yet don’t keep up with)about the news on how good mature series, that aren’t well known in the US fare among the other more popular shounen series

Back on track. Does anyone have a link to the backgrounds of the kitsune(?) and samurai in the begining of the 2nd Phase? Ive seen the imagery in other manga suchas CryingFreeman
amd other manga of that ilk, so I was curious. I’m not on a pc I can use much, so links would be appreciated please

I definetly wanna finish collecting the first arc. I wish I would’ve had a flash drive back when I had that shit on my comp(which is a goner) tp get my roomy in it.

Obviously there must be merit to this since there is a 15 page thread but I see alot of negative posts. Should I start this?

^^^yes

actually no. But go ahead, its just not worth it, so no.

Man, 2nd Phase…

It’d be funny if all of Second Phase was just one huge long drawn out battle.

The next fight then spans the Third and Fourth Phases.

Funny, but really sad.
