Well guys, I’ll be cracking down at school for a month. I’ve got classes every weekday from now until the start of June. Then my real summer starts.
See you all on the weekends and stuff

You going to Augusta, I am officially going now
I’m not sure yet. I can know pretty soon.
Ice, I’m kind of confused about something. My bad, but is that info you posted for the Augusta tournament or something else?
Just making sure
Augusta said in the other thread I think that they still want to do the 5 on 5. Who is our 5 gonna be?
My hat goes toward JTO, Mike, and Richard being automatics.
Just my two cents.
Are they going?
JTO might he will get back at me this week.
Richard and Mike won’t be they play on ps3 pad, so going to a 360 tourney is kind of pointless for them

Yes Eddie this is the Augusta tournament info, this is the same place I was using for the T.i.T. Trip as well though.
Atlanta 5 vs 5 should not happen unless we are at full strength.
The Game it’s self is being played on X-box, no one from East point officially plays on X-box, neither does Jason L, 70% of the Sticks on 360 Jason L doesn’t work well with due to the Octagon Feel etc, His stick is custom made for his character and play style, Wing-Zero Plays on pad, So does M.E. Red-ATL, why handicap them…
Can MetalMike or someone post it the tournament thread… ask if we can host the 5 vs 5 on a PS3:sweat:
Can we also host a ROUND ROBIN Tournament for the team to be fair to all parties who want to be involved??
I say we wait off on the 5 on 5. Host a round robin to qualify for it, and then either we drive up there or we do it next tournament.
Good games Tiger Onslaught… I know I sent that ass back to the training room LOL…if you want your revenge hit me up tonight
This sounds like a good idea.
I don’t mean that we should definitely run it asap, but just because the tournament is on 360 doesn’t mean that there won’t be a PS3 anywhere.
The venue is a tournament gaming center. There’s tons of systems everywhere.
ggs. yeah u handed my ass to me on a platter 2day.:karate: ill get at u later though.
Ok Metalmike can you get into the Augusta Tournament thread and see if we can at least get the 5 v.s.5 on PS3…
Yes the Round Robin Idea I felt we should do it at East Point Friday Night, We could crash there and leave from there in the AM OR Go home
BUT we all need a spot to meet up at so we can all leave at the same time if the East Point Idea isn’t to keen for you all…
Until I get an exact head count I cannot release a set price per person, The Number of people going will decide which van will be acquired.
I’m waiting til’ wednsday for you all to make up your minds and I can set the price, remember the Fee will include your entry for the tournament-Gas+Rental so when you see me post the total amount that’s what it will include in it’s entirety.
Jason L hit me up A.S.A.P about the Rental Car, I have some kinks and Details I need to work out with you please sir’
Yes but this is NOT an ATL brand tournament, we can’t just go to August and be like "Yo we playing on PS3 for the 5 on 5"
We don’t know if they all ONLY have 360’s down there or not, that’s not respectful or fair. We can ask ahead of time and see where it goes from there.
I can’t find the tournament thread.
Joel, call me. I need the bible back and I’ll outright trade a month of live gold for a n64 mem card
Me either and also i don’t want to go in there anc cause drama either that’s why I asked someone else to do it, sorry if i put you out there like that bro’ but your a nicer human being than I am right now lmao
5v5 on PS3, no problem!
I have a TE stick that works on both systems anyway, so if someone needs a stick during the tourney, they can borrow mine.
I’m pretty excited all you guys can make it out, been forever since there’s been any interest in Augusta. This is a testament to how much SF4 has revitalized the gaming scene.
On a side note: the whole EX3 vs SF4 discussion…Mainly the discussion over mechanics. Adding in a bunch of mechanics does not automatically make a game deep…it makes it more complicated. So instead of being able to jump in and use smart gameplay to defeat your opponent, you have to first overcome and learn to utilize all the “new mechanics” just to get at a slightly competitive level. Yes, all these mechanics can be more flashy, make the game more interesting to watch, and definitely can increase the spread between a pro and a scrub, but on an artificial level.
Having full access to all these mechanics can put some games into one-sided autopilot combo fests at times, look at VS. series, GG, EX3, Alphas, CVS2, even 3S at times, and etc…
Not knocking these games in the least, but in order to have access to solid damaging combos, there is a pretty extreme learning curve and memorization involved. I love all these games, but its hard to get friends into them, as they take much longer to learn.
SF4 solves this by simplifying the system, making it accessible to the masses. I just recently got an xbox and sf4 for a friend of mine, that i know has decent experience in SF games, and he was able to hop in and use his fundamentals to blow through the G3 bracket in a day or two. And that is with extremely little use of DPxxFADC Ultra (which is pretty much the most execution heavy setup in the game)
SF4 isn’t about who can pull off the half life+ CC, one-touch magneto kills, unblockable setups, etc., but about consistent outplaying of your opponent. Block stun is short, because people shouldn’t be locked down by long block strings with no chance of retaliation. Combos? The damage reduction systems helps equalize hit confirmation against risk (cr.LK, cr. LP,cr. LP vs cr. MK into whatever)
Just because a game is accessible to the masses does not mean pros will be getting beat by scrubs. Just like in HD remix with the simplified commands, are they making a difference in high level play? Not a bit, just makes it so people don’t have to sit in training mode for hours to perfect doing a 360 or tiger knee motion.
Accessibility is why SF4 is succeeding so well, and why the original SFIIs still outsold every incarnation of capcoms other fighting games. Does anyone have a problem with turnouts of 243! at FR? 70 people at an Impact Clash? Accessibility means a larger player base, more money in the pot at tournaments, and the possibility of more sponsorship and attention in the pro gaming world.
You can still tell an amazing player in SF4 over a scrub. Proper spacing, prediction, matchup knowledge and punishing makes good players.
Kiyoki, I can understand and respect that, especially the fact the game has brought so many people into the scene. And I found that if this game is successful than perhaps Capcom will be driven to release more 2-D titles or at least some from the backlog, regardless of what I think of it.
So it should succeed, but I took issue when people claimed the game itself was innovative, brought stuff to the table and “was the best title in years.” Obviously, when people hype something up like its the new Savior/Jesus and its not quite what is envisioned people are bound to be dissapointed. And then we have people that haven’t even touched EX and frowning upon it, without discovering the beauty in that title.
However, what if Capcom takes this as sign to keep SF on the current route, with the graphics and system, perhaps even simplifying it further? Is that good or bad? There has to be a threshold, somewhere.
I’m pretty stoked for Blazeblue. I decided I’m going to play Rachel.
Hopefully this game turns out what I’m hoping it will be and provide me a reason to go get a 360/PS3.
