I think the biggest problem with this debate isn’t EX3, isn’t SF4 or any other game. It’s the fact that people feel compelled to defend their game, and slam the other, and people are way to touchy about what other people think about what they play. If you play EX great, if not that’s ok too. You like SF4, awesome, if you don’t, it’s personal preference I can see where your coming from.
But it never ends there. Than we have to sarcastically mock each other or another persons game. If someone thinks EX3 is a great game, and you don’t. Oh well, it’s opinion, leave it at that. If someone thinks that SF4 is the greatest game ever, great for them, it’s their opinion.
People get their rocks off to much on slamming other people’s opinions with their own opinions like that shit is fact. In the end the only person who gives a damn about what you think is you, bottom line, and that’s no matter what side of the argument your on.
So stop slamming other games as trash, if you really don’t want people to get heated about it. Don’t go around mocking opinions and starting shit to be cool. This forum is cluttered with pages of bullshit after bullshit already over petty shit that no one really cares about.
Over 100 posts of BS? And this thread was started just this Saturday? Give it a fucking rest
I have a serious question. How does the GA scene think it stacks up to the rest of the southeast or the rest of the country at this point? And also, if you don’t feel that GA really stacks up against other states and regions, why do you think that is? And where do you think the GA scene can improve?
I have my issues with various people in the scene. But I really want to see us level up so we can keep out everyone next Final Round. I really hoping we can have top 8 Evo material locally in GA. I know traveling is good at all. But when do we get to the point where top talent is local and there is no need to travel?
The need to travel is constant, you cannot stay ontop of your game and NOT travel ask Mike Ross, Chunksta Crizzle Seasons beatings was a prime example, you can stay good, stay solid, but to be labeled at the TOP of your game you must travel.
Further more there has not been enough MAJORS for Ga to compare themselves to any other state or region, only local tournaments near by, in order for us to quote on quote level up, we must continue to play, gather, exchange strats BUT ALSO step outside our own comfort zone in Ga.
Also all this hype about EVO this EVO that, the past year in a half I’ve attended about 4 tournaments when its all said and done, I and others will agree, ended up having better competition in a or multiple games they play.
We don’t need to COMPARE OURSELVES to anyone, we just need to do us and let the chips fall where they may, your mission shouldn’t always be to “DEFEAT JUSTIN WONG” you still have 200 plus players in front of you, knocking Wong to the losers but getting yourself knocked to losers by some Dhalsim scrub or some button mash Ryu means you are not AT THE TOP of your game, in the end THAT ALONE should be your mission
Well there are clearly some scenes where the local competition is so strong that there is little need to travel outside of your region or state. you’ll be beastly in SFIV if you live in Socal, bottomline. Paul Somuchdamage is the strongest Sagat in the country right now and never travels. If you were going to level up at Marvel and you live in NYC. You don’t need to go any further than CTF, no traveling needed. Sure I can understand the need to travel. But there are some scenes that are so strong that traveling isn’t really necessary.
I’m just asking how do you create a scene so strong where your own local competition is really good like that? Maybe it’s not possible within the GA scene because of certain factors that I’m not aware of. But if places like Cali and Houston can build strong local scenes, I’m not sure why everyone else can’t.
I went through the list of everyone who posted on this thread and if they were in the Atlanta area I sent a friend request if they had their PSN gamertag. Why do you ask? Well, I look at all these tournies and most don’t represent HDR so I decided to start playing SF4 more. I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong or what, but it’s so hard to find matches either thru ranked or player.
i’ll be honest, i’ve played all of about 2 ranked matches and have maybe 10 online matches total with SF4. I’ve got prior game experience but almost none with SF4 so I’ll be a punching bag for now. I’ve been playing HDR for almost the last 3 months and logged over 1200 matches. I left off with the SF series primarily when HF died in the arcade scene and now am making a return!
if you don’t wish to add me, just ignore it but i’d like to play some of the locals and get in on these tournies and gatherings when possible.
The thing missing here and most other places is an arcade scene. The strongest scenes in the US have good arcade scenes. And I’m not saying you can’t be good without an arcade. Its what the arcade brings is what most communities are missing. The constant discussion, the hanging out with everyone afterward and discussing strategy. Everytime I go to Arcade Infinity and I lose the dude who beat me, whether its SoMuchDamage, Fuson909, BustaBust, etc, they always tell me what I could’ve done better, and will even sacrifice a round sometimes to show me what they are talking about.
Its that sense of community that makes these scenes so much better than others. Not to say that doesn’t happen here. At all my gatherings we discuss strategy nonstop. Same at East point. The only difference is the amount of people and the fact that its a constantly rotating line up of challengers.

Great captures man. Too bad I didn’t play anything but my most embarassing matches on the main XBOX.
As far as EX3 is concerned. It was mad hype. MetalMike and Wanton had some Epic Skullomania mirrors. That shit was mad crazy son. you guys are definitely going to have to have a $500 money match on the big screen at the next Final Round. I got about $50 on Wanton X, sorry Mike, but his Skullomania is just too Godlike.
