Anyways, I’ve decided to try to come out of my Virtua Fighter cave for a little bit and learn to love Street Fighter with you guys. I’m going to try to make it to one of the gatherings at Waba. The good news is that I found a character that I think I can enjoy. The bad news is that that character is Ken. Fuck my life.
This isn’t a “I’m a serious Street Fighter player now” statement, and I want to make sure you guys know that. It’s me expressing my desire to be a part of the scene, and to be a part of the scene, I have to play the scene’s game.

Not that it was a measuring stick since it was HDR. I said the stuff I was doing wasn’t come out. You said I have “no fundamentals and lack the basics”. My rationale was that I don’t really play HDR, and just showed up to MM Joel and Eddie. And also HDR properties and changes threw me off. You still persisted I was garbage. We play on 2DF, where I was upgraded to “Oh you’re just as good as me” status. So I went from garbage to just as good as you.

And you’re right I did get raped in ST Sunday. But it’s pretty fucking obvious it was due to me not being use to SE sticks then me not knowing what to do. You know my ST game a little too much to know that if I’m in the corner I wouldn’t bazooka knee out of it. And this happened everytime I tried to flashkick. Seriously I’m not the type of person to get owned by butt stomp shennigans, considering the fact that well timed flash kicks beat them everytime. Which is why Guile owns Honda. Now I’ll admit, at Final Round Kajoq did beat me pretty bad in ST because I had no Honda experience and was thoroughly unprepared for that matchup. Since then, I pretty much know everything Guile can do against Honda. Notice 3rd game/last match Kajoq barely pulled it off, after I had adjusted to the stick. I poked him out of his headbutts, counter threw him out of his Ochio tick throw setups and baited his super, even poked him out of it with a well timed jab. If I was more confident in the controls, I would have even timed my airthrow to get him out of his butt slams. Sure I made some mistakes during the last match, but because of bad judgment, not for lack of knowledge of the game. It’s amazing how selectively your memory is. You don’t remember me beating Nato when we were doing ST Guile casuals at your house, but you remember my match with Jason L.

And on that topic, yeah I lost pretty badly to Jason L. And yeah, I did get hit by mixups. I had never played a decent Zangief to that point, so I was unfamiliar with what he can do. It is amazing how you didn’t see that I started jumping out of his SPD attempts, and when he would counter my corner back jumps I started back jumping with light kick to throw off his spinning close line timing. Again it’s amazing what you don’t see. But not to take anything away from Jason L, he is a smart player. Probably the smartest person I played thus far.

Seriously we can do a money match where you can only use Balrog and I can only use Guile. And yeah I may suck in SF4 because I don’t know a lot of SF4 specific things. But I’m not dumb either and I know SF fundamentals. And what’s up with our Alpha 2 matches you’ve been talking about?

I have no idea how you played so bad the first time, but I know you aren’t as bad as you were that first time. You are fairly competent in ST.

You can honestly talk about how selective my memory is, but a loss is a loss. Doesn’t matter what you did during the match. I honestly didn’t remember you beating Nato in ST at my house cause I started talking to someone and when I started paying attention again you guys were playing CE Guile. I wasn’t trying to take anything away from you that time. I just honestly didn’t see it.

And as far as JasonL, same thing applies. It doesn’t matter what you do during the match. If you started to catch on or what not. You didn’t catch on enough to win. You lost. Thats all that matters. He beat you. you can brag all you want about what cool things you did during the middle of the match, but the ending is the only part that matters. Now yeah, maybe if you kept playing him in casuals you would have caught on more and more, but that wasn’t the case since it was tournament.

As far as SF4 money match, I honestly don’t like money matching. I only money match in Alpha 3. Sounds weird,huh?
I have my reasons though. Alpha 3 gets no tournaments. This really bums me out since Alpha 3 is literally my favorite game. So if I want to get some good action out of it, I have to money match. SF4 has so many tournaments that its ridiculous. So when I want action in it, I can get that action. So I honestly see no reason to money match. I would rather just play in the tourney.

You say you only really money match to learn. Well, lets just play some casuals then. I don’t have anything to prove by money matching. My ego isn’t so big that I need to constantly money match people to prove my skill. I can let tournament results speak on my behalf, not some random money matches.

As far as Alpha 2, I am ALWAYS game. I had some great matches with Shinblanka today. I am quite rusty though lol. If you want to get some casuals in that I am down. My PS2 stick isn’t working right though, so if someone has a spare PS2 stick we can do it.

I played horribly the first time we ever played because I'm old and I was having an off day.  Also combined with the fact that the joysticks there were pretty bad as well.  The only reason I played better the second time is because is because I was using my PS3 pad, which I'm pretty use to at this point.  I can pull off everything accurately on that or a hori stick.  Probably the two controllers I can use in ST for the highest amount of efficiency in my gameplay.  I can ajdust to any stick, but I come out the gates swinging with those two controllers.

I take the point about you not watching the match. You were indeed talking a lot to Marty and I can understand you may have missed it.

Although I will say my matchup knowledge is way better now in ST then it ever was.  Mainly from hitting the ST forum and playing on GGPO more regularly.  I think I know what to do in nearly every matchup (save for rarely seen characters like Fei Long and Cammy).

Yes, I much more willing to do casuals than MM to play against someone.  I just issue money matches, because everyone thinks I'm pretty sorry, and believe I'm free money.   So to bait them into playing me, I make it worth their time and money match them.    Seems to be more of an East Coast habit, but I'm much more willing to have some fun casual matches.

And I haven’t played anyone in person (offline)in Alpha 2 in like a decade (didn’t play it at Final Round), so it should be fun. I think it’s probably my second my competent game behind ST.

As far as ST, I haven’t had much time to practice, due to SF4 taking up ALL of my game time. I’ve been learning as much as I can about ST though with little practice. Trying to work on my Claw and Dee Jay as much as possible.
