If anyone is going to the midnight launch events at gamestop on the 14th advertise Revival and Final Round…I wish I had business cards to hand out instead of telling people who are probably tipsy or high around that time…
if memory serves me right doors opened at 10pm to try out the game (SSFIV back then) and I remember whooping up cats with Seth and Fuerte…ill go around 11 though
I kind of get sick of the 360 as a crutch arguments. Japan plays on 360, Wong and Marn play on 360. They still win PS3 tournaments. So honestly it doesn’t make a difference. It isn’t like you’re playing the Ps2 version of Mvc2 vs the Dreamcast version of Mvc2. The differences aren’t that drastic. Anyone who is intellectually honest about the whole debate will tell you that it only take a few games to warm up to the differences of the two systems. That could be covered in casual warm ups.
Honestly I could care less what system games are run on. As long as I have a proper controller, then I’m usually fine. I’ve played both the XBOX and PS3 SSFIV and I haven’t noticed a drastic difference. Of course 360 feels slightly faster, and I say slightly. About how Dreamcast MVC2 was faster than the arcade MVC2. Again these aren’t drastic changes, a few games and you should be fine.
I really get sick of 360 fanboys whine about PS3 tournaments.
I’m going to a Midnight Release at Lovejoy so I’ll advertise Revival & Final Round. Actually I planned on doing that already but thanks for reminding me Shadow Ace. I play on a dual modded stick so yeah…
Marty is a good friend, same goes for Jason L.
They keep me down to earth, mello and when I’m going off on my lil rants/tangents,they add logic instead of frustration.
I’m Sure Marty knows I was kidding around with him though and if he didn’t at the time…
You guys are aware that 360’s TE’s have very slight input delay right? Actually enough in fact that it negates the timing differences between the two consoles. Only if you are playing on an HRAP VX/VLX on a 360 will it be any similar to arcade perfect. You guys should jump on those Hori sticks instead of arguing which console to use for tournaments, as sticks have a more profound effect on gameplay over the consoles themselves.
In regards to the 360 vs PS3 Tournament Discussion:
Those are quotes from me in a recently recorded podcast.
Other issues play a part but mainly,My idea for these tournaments were to better prepare you all for… “The World”!!
Tournaments on a national level, revive our otherwise dead/dormant Street Fighter/Arcade Community and take it on to the next, next, nextest level (yea I made that word sucka)
I was able too temp persuade the Impact Crew to initiate a change in our monthly tournaments BUT that was voted out 2-1,not because they didn’t want too but we would have to go darn near another 6 months without hosting tournaments, just to acquire the consoles in order to reboot. EVO played a big part in our decision making as well, I realize Ga has high hopes/dreams on EVO, everyone knows I’ve gone too 2 EVO’s in my Fighting Game existence and I wasn’t fond of either so I am not to big on EVO but I am not interested in keeping anyone from attending,so why host tournaments to better prepare the talent yet, handicap them at the same time??
PS3 I think is the way to go for now, there will be a split for sure though.
MvC3,M.Kombat 9,SSF4 all major games cannot be ran on PS3 in the next few months, something will have to give.
Coupled with those facts, the D-Syncing rule will be put back into play ladies and gentlemen,we had minor issues at the last revival with this and I didn’t re-mention it as a rule because I thought it was something everyone already knew and understood since it was the Impact Crew and Final Round that inserted the rule into there system before anyone else.
The X-Box360 has been found a bit faster, people can complain about how it doesn’t matter yadda yadda but they are not really speaking for everyone.
Speaking from my 360 to PS3 experience,I have the most issues when the match is at a more frantic pace,I need to escape a mixup (Rufus.Bison etc) when I’ve placed a person in my own win-win situation, that split second timing can cost me the match when I miss the 1-frame link into ultra.
It’s not fair too tell someone "Oh well I play on PS3 and you should just slow down your combo slow down period in order to adjust" well if you’ve trained, worked on your timing and have to now switch consoles then all that timing you’ve worked on in training has to be scaled back,in the heat of battle you have to keep that in mind…that can cost you a match, I don’t think it’s fair but it happens and has happened to me plenty of times.
I also know people will run too the Stick vs Console excuse but…what you fail to remember is most people who are 360 normally have to ask to borrow a stick for PS3 or ultimately are not playing on there own stick period when switching too PS3 so the timing issue is still in play, there is no telling what the modding of these sticks actually do when making them dual but if you say that the stick takes the timing down on a dual mod while I am on 360…
And PS3 as a system is already slower when played upon…
Then I switch consoles…
I now have to add the timing from the stick slowing down my inputs…
As well as the console…
Never thought I’d say this, but I agree with him 110%.
But anyway, unless the difference in the versions is drastically different from each other, the system chosen will always be the one that is easier for the tournament organizer to get in abundance. That’s all that really matters in the end.
Once again, I have an immense headache from this thread. My opinion on the matter has nothing to do with my former employment with Sony. It has EVERYTHING to do with the fact that the PS3 is just a superior machine technology-wise. Honestly, the only 2 reasons the majority of people even bought a 360 were that it was cheaper on release and it had Halo. I mean, if you look at the numbers, there is a reason that the only decent sales numbers they have are in America: because most of this nation wouldn’t know a good product if it hit them in the head with a bat. Most people in America looked at the 600 dollar price tag and said, "LoL XBOCKS is 300 less and it playz gamez toooooo, LoLz Halooz! " without really looking at the specs and quality of both gaming platforms. Not to mention, most Blu-Ray players on the market were going for about 800-1200, while PS3 was going for 600 and did way more than just play BD-ROMs. But, IMO, that shows the ignorance of America when it comes to good gaming.
You can never blame a company for its bad products if they are popular, you can only blame the sheep for buying them. I suppose I SHOULD thank Microsoft, however. Their ridiculously shitty system design has been helping me pay bills and everything, so I can only complain so much.
Actually I was thinking about Trish/Dante/Modok. But if Modok turns out to be weak, then I may swap him out for Dormamu. I also would love a high damage team, or some reason to use Thor. But I guess I’ll figure that out when the game is released
Modok and Arthur seem dangerous, you just have to put in extra work to make them viable, actually everyone seems like they can do something, no character is to overpowered but its just the team chemistry that makes it happen
Dante/Iron man/Sent for example vs. Dante/Haggar/Tron
lets look at Dante: in this case it looks like the D/IM/S squad has the advantage here but one can also say that haggar could be covered by dante or tron to get it…getting the right teams to work together is important and not just relying on one character to do major damage
problem 1:Felicia/Captain Am/Ryu vs. Felicia/MODOK/Morrigan
Team 1 seems really shitty vs. team 2, how can felicia make this work out in team 1?
Answer: felicia has an assist that I believes hits low, give Ryu his shoryu AA and make captain Am have his shield slash(throw) assist. MODOK will try to cover felicia and more than likely morrigan will try to build meter for felicia so your best bet is to dash>>Cap assist>>to get close>> etc.
So, sitting here at SPSU and the B&B Biweekly doesnt start for another 3 hours. Internet here is terribly slow so i can’t pass time by watching videos. God i hate this place.
