I would like to partake. What time is good, Sir?
i am.do i need to bring anything and what time?
ok if you feel like that with your two cents then i got $20 on Poongko against who ever you think is gonna win. bitch:lol:
8 should be fine
I wish I could partake
What is this about?
SFIV world champs or something. Poongko was winner of Korean nationals, and thus will be competing in worlds.
According to some reports Justin Wong and floe raped Poongko last night in casuals.
Oh, and Mike Ross told me he will be calling me throughout the night with updates on the tourney. HYPE!
Iyo is taking it for sure. Iyo Dhalsim is just too solid, his defense is impeccable and he has great judgement. and over agressive Ryu doesn’t stand a chance. It’s an unwritten rule of SF. Never rushdown Dhalsim unless you know what you are doing. Poonko Ryu loves to rush down and force his opponents to flinch. Korean players are probably as a whole more agressive than Japanese players. But Japan excels in defense. As far as the American Champ, it will more than likely be Justin Wong, and he will likely get raped by Iyo as well. Justin Wong is really good, and I’m sure he has a few tricks. But Iyo is the sole Grandmaster Dhalsim players in Japan, and there are like what? 4 videos of him playing? For him to have reached a level that high, he has had to been beasting everyone. So Iyo probably knows every matchup in and out. I don’t think there is a lot Justin can do that will take Iyo by surprise.
you heard it here first. A Dhalsim player will be the world champ. You can bank on it. And it’s about time, Sim has been slept on for far too long.
Haha
Does anyone know when the fnal four will play each other?
this world championship is so hype. Justin up 3-2 vs Iyo right now, pongko lost to everyone, daigo beat iyo… INTENSE
[mike ross getting second in nationals is cool too!]
Justin just beat Iyo, 4-2. HYPE.
and now it’s over. epic. can’t wait for the videos, hopefully it isn’t just direct feed and we get to hear crowd reactions. What is justin going to do with the machine I wonder…
Fail. lol. You were so wrong in this post.
Justin got 2nd place! USA!!!
My man Daigo. I guess I havent been wrong after all.
Dear Georgia community:
Bitch shit on my bed. I’m out $400. See you in 4 days.
^^ What the hell
How the fuck did Justin Wong beat Iyo? Doesn’t make any sense. Anyway, at least Iyo shitted on Poongko. To everyone who think flashy offensive play pays off, watch this video and it will show you it doesn’t.

Offense seems to have paid off for Daigo…*and *it has more entertainment value than watching my fingernails grow.
Actually it didn’t. Poongko Ryu is far more agressive that Daigo’s Ryu. And we all know how that turned out. Daigo does have superior defense and footsies. Daigo switches styles on the fly a lot anyway. to say he’s aggressive really shows you have no idea about his play style. Daigo can attack, but when he’s attacks he always defends perfectly. If Daigo was 100% offense, he wouldn’t have beat Iyo. He beat Justin Wong soley on defending.
That is the sole reason why Japan excels at fighting games in general. Over there, defense is what’s considered worth learning. That is why in Japan they can defend against some things that anyone else can’t. They throw tech almost all of the time, and their footsies on are on par. While some Japanese players do become more aggressive, their base is totally based on defense. Korea is different entirely, they’re bigger on execution. But this style works for KOF but not SF.
Japan excels at fighting games because a Japanese player tends to dedicate himself to mastering his character and his style, whether that style is conservative or risky. Offense in general is usually a risky procedure, but what do you have when both players in a match just jump back and spam projectiles?
Who knows. Maybe I just don’t get it. That’s a distinct possibility.
I’m sure everyone is concerned with mastering characters in any country. The difference is how you approach learning that character or style. Japan first learns to defend and then they learn to attack. Several people who have been to Japan verifies this. I even asked NKI at Final Round about Japan, and he said there appears to be no scrubs in Japan. At the very least you have a hard time hitting them. MetalMike told me the same.
Japan learns to block defend and footsies FIRST. As opposed to America where we simply learn but pressing buttons and attacking constantly. That is why so many solid players arise from Japan. Sure there are other factors as well. They have way more competition, way more arcades, etc. And that’s true. But honestly, even if America has as many arcades as Japan has, I still think Japan would be better. Because their philosophy is based totally on patience.
If you’re being spammed by fireballs, the best thing to do is wait it out. Beccause there is more than likely an opening. Just running up on a good player who throws fireballs is something I wouldn’t suggest. More than likely you’ll be running into a lot of damage.
Like I said…the most likely explanation for my discontent is that I just don’t get this game. In fact, I’m relatively certain that that is the case. Either way, turtling irritates me. It’s almost like I’m losing because my opponent is boring me to death.
