Ga Thread (Home of the don't get punched in the face stratagy!)

I didn’t say it was better. I just said it was my favorite.

Ralph is really a Georgian.

That is all.

So you saw what he discovered?
That is gonna change Gief’s game

on the VF thing, i’ll play. i think Lei Fei is awesome in that game.

wait wut

Having never played Virtua Fighter and not knowing anything about it, I’m not really qualified to compare it to Tekken. However, I can tell you that the video you posted looks really bad. It doesn’t make it look fun at all, and if it’s showcasing the technical aspects, then I’m certainly not picking up on them. It’s just ugly, man.

This, I assume.

At least you don’t play Shun Di…

Who is gaming today? Ill bring a case as usual. JasonL you going to EP today? Marty hit me up.

You’re right, I’m sorry. I should have known that showing a shallow person a more technical fighter without characters trying their darnest to be hip, stuff like kangaroos and bears fighting, ridiculous wall and juggle combos with peeps being launched 100 feet in the air and stuff like having electricity and clouds of red smoke emanating from people’s bodies wouldn’t have impressed you.

I’m so sorry.

So, is there anything else you could do to sound like even more of an elitist jackass?
Get over yourself. People like you are what’s keeping people from taking any interest whatsoever in Virtua Fighter. You remind me of when I was eighteen and telling people that they just didn’t understand the subtle nuances of the music I listen to.

i love playing some VF, but no one i know plays it. I used to play tran every now and then back in the t4 days when we were bored. he taught me the jab/grab jab/elbow way of life.

im on this sf4 for now though. yall best be ready for gross akuma combos

It’s pretty effective. I’ve been using it to get in deep enough on the closer side of cross up knee mix ups plus it helps hit knees deep on either side so you can mix up the block string with the throw more accurately. It’s also what I use to do wiffed knees into spd. It’s a really effective tool.

Lil Kong I’m not sure if I’m going to EP or not. Me and the EP guys Wing Zero and JTO are gonna go to the bama tourney along with cool-breeze and whoever he found to go. So I’m not sure if I’ll go out there tonight per say. I’ll probably more than likely be out there saturday night since we are coming back on the same days and I’ll probably just chill out there for that night.

There’s nothing elitist about it.

Tekken has mainstream appeal (for various reasons) and it is easier to pick up and play. So when people play that game, see the craziness and superhuman feats in it, VF looks boring and plain to them. Understandable, but I take issue when they call it ugly.

You trying to pick a fight with me and claim I keep the people from playing VF is not even a issue here.

The people that keep people from playing VF is themselves. And if someone is so utterly hearbroken when I call them out them out for being shallow on that basis and won’t play the game because of that, chances are they would drop the game in a short timeframe anyway.

In anycase, yflow, I guess my post was sorta bitter; perhaps the problem is not the game looking pedestrian itself, but perhaps what you need is to see is higher-level matches; look in my playlist for the vids with “disc replay” in the title. If you still don’t like those, then its not the game for you. And that’s fine with me.

I still play Garou sometimes and Cool Breeze i didn’t know aceuno plays it. I still remember playing it with JTO and Norman back in tha days. I can relate to that. To me it doesn’t matter what games ur playin as long ur having fun. Hell i didn’t play Vampire Savior for a while until Kajoq rekindle my flame for that game. I might wanna try some sport games but i don’t thing i have the patience and skills to play it.

Oh thats right. Good luck in bama. Well im heading to Augusta tomorrow. Going to my uncles wedding, but ill definitely see you guys Sunday @ Waba

I’ve played both VF and Tekken, and in my personal opinion Tekken is a lot more fun. I don’t like any of the characters in VF and it takes far too long to get decent at VF for my interest. I can see why the mainstream doesn’t like it.

yo me and omnislash going so ill c u there.

Both Tekken and VF are boring spectator games. Tekken is ultra turtly at higher levels with both guys just side stepping and baiting attack strings. Unless you understand WHY they are doing what they are doing, you probably aren’t going to find too much flashy going on. Launchers and juggles are pretty minimal in high level Tekken. Sure you’ll see them, but probably 1 or 2 a round. Compare this to casual Tekken, where launchers are more common place.

VF at high levels is one hell of a poke fest. Again, if you don’t understand why they are doing what they’re doing, then you’ll be bored to tears watching it. Juggles in VF are every bit as flashy as Tekken juggles. But there is even more risk doing in VF than in Tekken. And attacking is dangerous in Tekken as it is.

What is the centerpiece of both Tekken and VF are it’s movement systems. Both games are big on footsies. Seeing how well a good Tekken player moves around is worth watching. Also the amount of mindgames at play. VF has a higher execution factor along with mind games, and has a lot of options to move around the screen.

Overall games with huge damage tend to widdle down to less attacking and more “sizing someone up” at higher levels. CVS2 is another one of those games, as is ST. Taking ANY sort of damage in those games can lead to major momentum shift.
