Ga Thread (Home of the don't get punched in the face stratagy!)

You have other things to worry about.

Me and you in A2. You’d best be prepared. :grrr:

Rock Paper Scissors is Epic

Chinese Food was ok. Soup was Good, the 4 pieces of pork ribs i got was great, duck was good. Nice job Eddy.

People playing so hard on sticks that they can mash in a button on a week old stick to the point that it won’t work…not so epic

what’s up dad, sorry that I’ve been out of touch for a while. Tina and I would really like to thank you for putting us up and holding us down. Same goes to you Ant, assuming you ever come on here anymore. So how are things going dad?

I’m good man. Still job hunting. How are you?

I will own you and mike at the sametime! J/K’ing:wonder:

I don’t know mike. I’m going to get a dog for the wife on friday.

i would love some explanation on the wiring, looks hella clean.

i had to do a rush job on my cthulhu to get it ready for final round, and i want to go back and organize it better (i used wire splices, not as much as a convenience as i expected, since the splices were hella bulky)

BTW, whats that small black board above the cthulhu?

The small black board is an Imp board, another creation of Toodles. Basically, it acts as a DPDT switch for your setup and sets a Home/Guide button for you.

With my setup, for PS3, I just plug in the USB and go, with the Xbox-Guide button working as my Home button.
For X360, I hold down the guide button when plugging in and it knows to bypass the Cthulu basically and jump straight to the 360 PCB.

Thats a rough explanation of it, but it covers the main function. I figured it was worth it to avoid cutting another outside hole in my box, I wanted to hide as much as possible.

I’ll be throwing so more pics up in the tech talk section this evening, a few others are interested in my Neutrik jack placement and wiring. I’ll PM the link when its done.

Hell yeah, What kinda pup you pickin up?

Come play vamp!!!

Eddie is scared of vamp!!!

Marvel!!!

Lets gogogogo!

Karapalm, it was cool meeting you this year and keep up the good work with rufus. Going to Australia, that must be so exciting! Have fun over there and be safe.

Mike, are there any vids for the SBO qualifiers??

Derek, thanks a lot for housing us Saturday night…we were soo tired and we really appreciate it, your getting better with bison, just stick with him and youll get really good.

Good shit to everyone at waba, Im starting to feel like the general community as a whole is getting better, keep it up ATL.

There are vids in the SF4 section. It has its own thread. Only vids of the finals, so no videos of your beloved Daigo.

Shiki doesn’t know what he’s talking about; SF4 rocks!!! :nunchuck::nunchuck::nunchuck::grrr::grrr::grrr::grrr::chainsaw::chainsaw::chainsaw::chainsaw::hitit::hitit::hitit::hitit::rock::rock::rock:

It is the best game EVA, will herald in a new dawn of gaming and more mortals like us cannot hope to even fathom its greatness.

I love SF4; it is the new messiah; without it, life wouldn’t be worth living!

I mean, what’s not to like? The fact Capcom actively gave it practically no identity of its own, basically taking nonsensical bits and pieces of SF3 and SFII, and then it was dragged, probably kicking and screaming, into the studio and systematically turned into one of the most idiotic travesties I have ever seen (I love SF4!!). Nevermind stupid obvious things, like the input window (particularly reversals, being made 10 years open, making wake-up games a joke). Or that most AA’s are subpar except when you use meter for an EX version, or that characters seem to have short-term memory and lost more than one super move to be utilized, or that cross-ups and reckless jumping around is actually rewarding which robs any possibility of becoming involved in metagame, unlike ST, where that shit can get you killed quick. Or maybe I love SF4 so much because they give you a reward for getting your ass kicked in the form of a “rage meter” (SF4: Best Game EVA :hitit:) where you get access to a super that takes half a life bar (AND still have access to your normal supers and EX moves! Now that’s a deal!). Also, its awesome how despite all the neat normals we have access to, two-button command grabs take priority way too often. Its awesome when I’m doing a normal or finishing blockstring, I get put in a thrown animation! Yeah! (SF4 for the win). So much other cool stuff, but I’m so taken in by SF4, there’s no need to continue! And like Shiki said, let’s not forget it even had the shame to steal some of EX’s (Worst game EVER :arazz:) conventions and still not use them correctly!

This is followed by a realization that the original attempt at 3D street Fighter, the EX series has almost none of these deplorable (I luv SF4 :lovin:) qualities and unarguably more depth, options and level playing field for those who put in the effort. Yep this piece of trash should only be used as an implement of pain. It horrifies me that this PS2 launch title is widely available at used stores or online (the store I bought from had two copies! OMG! :grrr:). So much to hate! With its big expansive rooster, diversity of playing styles, not to mention the presence of old, established SF characters its selection sucks, that’s for sure. Also worth mentioning its deep gameplay system which puts SF4 to shame and makes it its own (SF4 is the best), with super cancels that work to increase damage potential, but are regulated like a normal super gauge, tag combos which are totally dependent on who you use and how you create them, jump-ins can be throw-counterable if you aren’t deep/x-uped enough, zoning is balanced, the momentary cancel system allows open-endedness in blockstrings, combo set-ups,etc., guard breaks, emotional flow, critical parade, Meteor Combos and Surprise blows. The rooster is nearly on VF series level of balance, and the music composed between the likes of Shinji Hosoe, Ayako Saso, Takayuki Aihara, Yasunori Mitsuda, Toshimichi Isoe is nothing short of memorable and could stand on its own composition. Gosh, I wonder how many potential fighting game fans have been put off by that nasty EX stuff, and I am tempted to burn it and tell the store I lost it.

SF4 is BEST GAME EVA.:pray::rock::rock::lovin:

Tech Romancer since you don’t know anything about Street Fighter, I can see where you would think it sucks, since there clearly aren’t enough gimmicky gameplay mechanics for your liking.

Basically Street Fighter 4 is all about footsies, and less about ambiguous setups or frame traps. It’s pretty much a game all about fundamentals.

I play Guile and I should really be fucking complaining. He has nerfed pokes, nerfed flash kick, and a shitty ultra that even if it does hit, still doesn’t do a ton of damage.

Still it teaches me more about the importance of ranges and to really anticipate my opponents jump-ins more. Basically I have to use my brain to accomplish anything with the character. Instead of 1 get out of jail free card that’s an answer to anything. You really do need in depth knowledge of your characters pokes and good indepth knowledge of the matchups. I’m finding that this is very important for SFIV.

Yeah but overall if you don't want to ever think, or learn footsies or proper spacing. Then you probably won't like SFIV. I talked to Zach yesterday who said he didn't like the game because it was too slow. I can respect that. but to give a breakdown about a bunch of misconceptions and pass it off as "intelligent critique" is another. since I doubt you've ever liked the game, and never put any time into it, you're just basing your opinion off of nothing.

And then you talk about SFA 2. And while I love the game, there is too much shit in Alpha 2 that applies to SFIV. Especially considering Alpha 2 only has 1 get out of jail free card CC activation. And you can’t even spam that unless you understand footsies. SFA2 has nerfed anti-airs for special moves as well. Oh and not sure if you ever noticed, but getting beat up builds up meter for you. So to CC your opponent you pretty much have to set it up. I’m pretty sure few people eat random CC activations.

Street Fighter games have always been about making your opponent waste their meter by baiting it out. SFIV is no different. If you were trying to pressure a revenged opponent, then you deserve to eat an ultra. The same way that someone who is dumb would eat a full CC in Alpha 2. Seriously the first time I play SFIV, I got hit by a random ultra. After that I started to be mindful of that.

You may not like SFIV because you don’t like it. But there is no need to try to validate your opinion by trying to make it look factual.

I’d like to apologize for my comments which seem to have misinterpreted.

In no way, shape, or form by discussing EX3 did I ever intend to deter people away from playing our Lord SF4, the greatest game in the history of games.
Our new Jesus, SF4, is an amazingly fun, fast-paced, and unfathomably deep experience which is truly unlike any other SF in history of human civilization.

To even suggest that SF4 was derived from any part of the vile abomination known as SFEX3 is sacrilege of the order most foul.

I would not suggest pondering these matters at any length–there is no reason to play the slow, floaty, grossly unbalanced SFEX3 when one can enjoy the smooth, lightning-fast, high-octane pace of SF4.
Not to mention the expertly balanced and deep Tatsunoko Vs Capcom–where you can be thrilled by an endless variety of match-ups…including Karas Vs. Ryu, Karas Vs. Karas, and even Ryu Vs. Karas. I surely expect that 1000 years in the future, people the world over will have replaced Chess with TvC as humanity’s deepest, most strategic, and thought-provoking game.

Also to answer Lobelia, I’m never on AIM (I even forgot I have an account).

However, you definitely SHOULDN’T direct any questions about EX3 in this thread:
http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=3988
Where veteran players such as Shinjigohan and others can answer any inquiries.

Also, definitely DO NOT watch videos on this YouTube account:
http://www.youtube.com/user/IHX
Filled with tons of slow, floaty, turtle-fest SFEX3 matches to put you to sleep with same 2-3 characters used over and over.

Also, NEVER look at the Legendary Kao Megura’s (R.I.P.) excellent SFEX3 FAQ
http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/198826/28675?rec=3391340740

You should NOT do these things, because there is no reason to as Our Lord and Savior SF4 exists.

Why is you so mad at me? I was just worshiping SF4 and kissing its ass like everyone else.

Naw man! I dunno know anything about Stoot Fighter!

What’s a hadoken? What’s a “block”?

I was just telling everyone my love for SF4, the best game ever.

I love SF4. :lovin:

Umm…that all seems pretty unprovoked…

lol I thought so too. That’s where my (joking) comment about doujin fighters came from a while back

Once again, I’d just like to say I love Killer Instinct!

:wgrin:

You missed out on the IC4 HYPE AS FUCK Killer Instinct matches. Tell em’ Marty!

lol, damn right. those matches got MAD intense. also, when did anyone deny that EX3 had nothing to do with the conception of SF4? obviously, ALL games that come after the original in a series take elements from the games before it, no matter how minute. truthfully, it just sounds to me, RoS and Tech, that you guys are bitter simply because EX3 is not popular, and SF4 is. while SF4 is not my favorite game in the world, it is a solid game that is gaining some popularity. not a good reason to hate a game, imo. i don’t really know enough about EX3 to make a statement about it, though…
